Brother, this is amazing! I had my first fishing kayak outing last Friday in a Native Slayer Max 12.5. I loaded up everything in the parking space and wheeled in down to the water with the landing gear. But when it was time to leave, I tried to pull it up the ramp to the truck and about pulled my shoulder out! It really discouraged me how heavy it was. This will save my life (particularly my shoulders) and gives me confidence to get back out there. Thank you!!
This is a knee saver. I never dreaded launches..just the taking out. Even though the Boondox's made it easier... pulling 120 lbs up an incline was hard on my arthritic kee. Thanks for making the video and sharing this
Great idea! Only thing I might do differently would be to use a rope loop and pull from the center of your extender. These extenders are not made for rotational torque around the T-joint, but more for vertical support. I backed up into post with my old steel extender (I have a Boonedox now), barely felt the thump and twisted the steel T-joint.
I put my scupper cart in my hobie while in the water without tilting sideways. It's the only way I do it. Just slide the cart in parallel with the yak, feel around for the scuppers, then rotate 90 degrees and they'll pop right up into the scupper holes. Super easy...unless you have the beach wheels, haha. They are very buoyant. I still do it that way, but they are a pain.
What kayak wheel cart is that? I tried to attach my cart while it was in the water and i couldn't.. now have you figured how to load the kayak into the bed truck without removing the motor and everything? Because thats the annoying part i want to cut in the process
You definitely need the XL backer plates. I've had the landing gear for a few years and I think I broke every part on it...I think I was a test case for the really heavy kayaks, haha. They replaced everything and now the latest versions are great.
@@kayakangler I load mine with 6hp Suzuki on boat that set up scares me lol but great info thx I back extension to water and use ATV electric wrench pulls it right in
Good question my man....here's a link to the video loading it in the truck: ruclips.net/video/I4aH0d1Tpkg/видео.html I updated the video summary to include that link, thanks!
Excellent idea. But here’s a tip for you. Get yourself a link out of a chain big enough that your caribbeaner will fit through. Tax weld it to the center of your extender just high enough so that the front of the yak doesn’t hit the ground. Now you don’t have to lift as high . Your pulling from the center so you don’t tweet your extender. And all is good. Great tip.

Awesome! Glad it helped!!

Thanks for sharing. My wife and I love to kayak fish but we're getting a little older. This idea will help us out.
That’s awesome! I’m definitely going to use that trick. Thanks for sharing!!
I do basically the same thing with a cam strap and the latch loop on my rear hatch of my Subaru Forester, with the Landing Gear. Definite back-saver.
Sweet. My problem exactly. Now if I can just install my Hobie wheels while in the water without first tilting it sideways

@@kayakangler whoops friggin expensive beach wheels I have. I moved from the beach, San Diego, to the Sacramento River. Doh…………
Damn dude..that’s not a kayak, that’s a boat. Lol
So how do you load it back into the truck? Thanks
Wow that's a great idea thanks!!

That's a Boonedox Landing Gear. And yeah, I put it right on the truck without pulling off the motor or anything. I just lift it on there, stern first.
I've had an idea almost identical to this but I won't it for some strange reason lol.
Just curious how boondock are holding up I heard cracks the plastic

Kayaks that size I recommend getting a little trailer.
unfortunately trailering isn't an option. I live in a community where I couldn't store one, so trucking it is the best option.
How you get that damm thing on the truck 😜🤙🏼

How many times before your keel wears through and starts leaking?
Not sure what you mean....the keel never touches. The nose is lifted off the ground and the wheels are lowered when pulling it up.
Did not see wheels first time
Kayak? Outboard motor, gasoline tank, etc. I though kayaking was a sport, and a reason to get exercise, not avoid it.
