I think a good way to understand (from my perspective) what professor Leftow means when he uses the word 'GOD' is to think of that word as a category or handle or container into which ideas can be sorted. I get the feeling from just this video that his concept of GOD does not necessarily have to have a supernatural existence. Having said this I have no clue if what I say is correct since I've read none of his writing and have only the video to base my comment.
Perhaps a better place to start is to understand that ALL words are containers. The user has imbued each container with his own ideas upon uttering. But if not properly unpacked, the listener/reader can misunderstand the point being made by filling such a container with their own ideas.

Oh my goodness! It is so painful (or maybe just amusing) to listen to Christian academics perform their 'sophisticated/sophistry-like' mental gymnastics trying to explain philosophical concepts. Leftow's distinction between 'Secular' necessity and 'Logical/mathematical' necessity is a typical exercise in Evangelical Modal Logic: "how many angels can POSSIBLY dance on the head of a pin?" Quine got it right years ago: Necessity is the 'common clay' of claims we think hold "come what may". If we listen carefully there is a high pitch of desperation in Leftow's voice. This was a sad and uninformative interview to listen to. I often use these videos with my Christian students -- but there's nothing to see here. Truth is a very important topic in a philosophy class, and this attempt failed miserably. No ground was gained on Pilate's famous question!
