I recorded this back in 82, a few years later the tape broke, I am so happy to hear it again now, especially as Rick is no longer here, BEST QUO SONG AND BEST VERSION EVER, full stop, nothing beats this.
Absolutley, totally agree. Very underrated and (I believe) it was Parfitts fave track. I saw 'em on this tour and still remember them doing this at (I think) Hammersmith Odeon and timed it...20+ minutes. for a 17 year old, it blew my 'ead off......great times...
totally agree andy im doing the same now on you tube after a few drinks even watchin a few tribute bands 70,s and 80,s of course forty five hundred times forever
+Peter Jewell tommy vance friday rock show i remember it well for years i had it on tape the tape run out on one side half way through this blind panic to change it over lol what a track
brilliant live version, its my favourite live version with rawness and magic, the reissue of live at the n.e.c record will be on double CD and 3 lp vinyl, it will feature this song on it, it will be out on October the 20th , cheers for posting this on, R.I.P Rick Parfitt!!!!
there is gonna be a reissue live at the n.e.c and it will feature this live version, it will be on double CD and 3 lp vinyl, it will come out on the 20th of October!!!!!
The video for this song was on RUclips but it disappeared...I think it was incorrectly titled NEC 82 when it was more recent. I played it so much, I'm gutted.
Is this the song were Rick runs off to the side half way through to get a drink looking shall we say, really happy? If so this was I think the best rendition of this song I've seen to date, they all seem super dialed in right the way through. BRILLIANT.
...also, given the passion for pumping out "best of ..." albums, I'd love to see a "best of Quo live" that digs deep into the archives - something that cuts across the "original Quo", "lite Quo" debate but simply celebrates what a great live band they are and would hopefully include this one. Legal and copyright might make it a bit of a pipe dream, but they are closer to retirement than apprenticeship so it would be a great thing to pull together I think....
there is gonna be a reissue of live at the n.e.c coming soon in October the 20th and it will feature this live version, it will come on double CD and 3 lp vinyl!!!!
love it - remember recording this off the BBC radio 1 broadcast on my cassette player back in '82! no copyright infringement intented of course:) best "long version" of 4500 times I think, great musicianship (if there is such a word)
excellenty - rick pounding away on the black Gibson, amazing. only annoying thing is Pete crashing away on the crash cymbal during the fast bit - by EOTR he was on the ride cymbal, much better
Just fantasizing away, but... how amazing would it be if they'd whip out this version during the final tour in a few months... :D Ooooh... probably not :p
Much better EQ on the drums on this version. Petes sound was really hampered by piss poor mixing. The snare was too vibrant, and the Tom Tom's were really low in the mix. Cannot get over how much better he sounds.
Best live track ever!!!! I think I've heard it more than 4500 times!
yeah man, same here :-)
Same here...its the best. The video of them playing 4500 times live NEC 82 was on RUclips but for the life of me I cant find it.
You said it mate .. I used to sneak in my brother's room when he wasn't in .. play long legged Linda 4ever lol
Very Funny. Me too

Prvu long plejku kupio sam od status quo album quo 1975.
For years the 'More from the road' version was my favorite song, but after i heard this gem 3 or 4 times, this is now my favorite song ever!
was at this concert, best ever concert I have ever been to,or ever will
For me the best Rock song ever written.

Rest in piece - Grande Richard Parfitt.
Absolute brilliant
Remember hearing (and recording) the radio broadcast -- still have the tape somewhere. This is easily the best (and longest) version of this track.
+Peter Jewell tommy vance friday rock show i remember it well for years i had it on tape the tape run out on one side half way through this blind panic to change it over lol what a track
There are probably quite a lot of us (of the right vintage). (And yes I've not thrown my 300-odd tapes out yet). Nice to have this on youtube now.
Got it on vhs, from when it was shown on bbc..
Indeed it is. Haven't found a longer version

Went to the Deeside gig at the beginning of the tour. Great night, great band. and this was the highlight. Wish they still did the full version live.

Ooooh... probably not :p
This is a sadly underrated classic by the quo. Sorry but "in the army now" and soft quo doesn't compare to this.
neza york la ciudad de status quo rock
Jajaja, 3 acordes dicen. ¡Viva Status Quo!

Pete was a very good Drummer, though not always recorded properly.
