Although, I have heard guests on podcasts in general talk about how hosts didn't greet them. It's seems to be an industry standard. When challenged for this in the podcast, at least one hosts justified it by saying he is too busy at that time, prepping everything for the show, to greet all guests personally. And the rest of the crew basically agreed with host. And it is like TV, expensive and pressurized work environment. Personally I'd like a nod of the head at least, but I could understand and forgive if I didn't get it.
Sometimes ppl just don't see you if they are focused on something else honestly. I have seen it happen before, just some ppl can get real hyperfocused on what they are about to do. I think Roland explained that.

I’m not gonna lie, I remember watching that episode and it absolutely did feel like an attack 🤷🏾♂️. The whole vibe was very hostile and it seemed like Roland and the panel were trying to discredit Dr. Umar or have a “gotcha” moment.

It’s all about good and bad energy. I was always taught when one enters the room that person should speak. You don’t have to have a long conversation but it only takes a second to speak. It’s all about starting the day off with positive energy. I know Roland says he has his game face on and he doesn’t speak to anyone before the show. It only takes a second to say good morning. Good Morning = Good Energy.
Lastly I have to say I support both Roland and Dr. Johnson. The reason why is because they are both on the same team fighting for their people. Both are educated with strong wills and big egos but must realize they are on the same team. This reminds me of when Malcolm X left the NOI to form his own organization. Although they had a disagreement both Malcolm’s new organization and the Nation were still on the same team fighting for their people but unfortunately it ended tragically because of ego and jealousy. Sometimes we have to set our egos and pride aside for the bigger picture.

It seems that Dr Umar is implying that on all previous occasions Roland would speak to him and greet him in the very exact same scenario as this one. But on this occasion it deviated from what had previously been the norm.

Before I retired, I did that all the time. Why? I'm not a morning person and that time of day bugged the shit out of me. I told people not to talk to me before I've had my 1st couple cups of coffee. THEY understood. Not sure why you don't. Roland might've been deep in thought too, and didn't even see Umar. I didn't see people either, early in the morning. Another problem in our community is the inability to eradicate confusion amongst our brotherhood/sistarhood, and how valuable we are to each other. It's disappointing to hear him say Umar means nothing to him. This is what continues to drive the division within our communities. Roland says he hates drama, but he's continuing to through fuel and coals on this fire instead of coming with an extinguisher.

I saw the show on TV One, live and it was definitely a setup to ambush, embarrass and discredit Dr Umar on national television. They were gunning for him, and it seemed his stance on IR relationships was particularly triggering for them. In fact, I believe they were directed to do so. That's why he didn't greet him backstage as he looked right at him. It definitely got the show canceled, but we are not going to pretend it wasn't a hostile environment.

Although, I have heard guests on podcasts in general talk about how hosts didn't greet them. It's seems to be an industry standard. When challenged for this in the podcast, at least one hosts justified it by saying he is too busy at that time, prepping everything for the show, to greet all guests personally. And the rest of the crew basically agreed with host. And it is like TV, expensive and pressurized work environment. Personally I'd like a nod of the head at least, but I could understand and forgive if I didn't get it.

It’s all about good and bad energy. I was always taught when one enters the room that person should speak. You don’t have to have a long conversation but it only takes a second to speak. It’s all about starting the day off with positive energy. I know Roland says he has his game face on and he doesn’t speak to anyone before the show. It only takes a second to say good morning. Good Morning = Good Energy.
Lastly I have to say I support both Roland and Dr. Johnson. The reason why is because they are both on the same team fighting for their people. Both are educated with strong wills and big egos but must realize they are on the same team. This reminds me of when Malcolm X left the NOI to form his own organization. Although they had a disagreement both Malcolm’s new organization and the Nation were still on the same team fighting for their people but unfortunately it ended tragically because of ego and jealousy. Sometimes we have to set our egos and pride aside for the bigger picture.

I remember watching that interview and really anyone that did could only come away with the idea that Roland treated it like a hostile interview. With any press you can automatically tell by the tone of the question and the line of questions if someone is trying to play hardball.
