For the Burrow pokemon, it's absolutely not anything Groudon-related. The sprite is in the gen 5 sprite style, and we have the broken-down joints of the sprite and an animation test of it on the gen 5 background with another gen 5 beta pokemon. From what I've read, the common consensus is that it's something related to Druddigon or Carracosta, though they both also had beta sprites revealed in this leak. I definitely see a bit of Archeops in the head, especially in your illustration. Nice work on these! You really do the designs justice.

For a challenge for a steel type gym leader, how about a factory where you have to operate parts of a machine to progress through each section. As to what the machine makes, maybe it makes gym badges and after you make a gym badge you have to face her at the end of the machine to earn the badge you made from her
It was in the gen 5 section, so it would have gotten the noivern treatment (gen 5, then stored for later), bit noivern stayed much closer to the design.
Great work. If Disastorous is an amalgam of the Forces of Nature, may I suggest its Therian Forme be some kind of chimera, specifically the yokai Nue. Its common depiction has the head of monkey, body of a tanuki, limbs of a tiger and a snake as its tail. It is nocturnal, can fly and shapeshift, often disguised as a black cloud. It has an eerie bird cry and are regarded as an evil omen bringing bad luck. As for the turkey anatomy question, the red flesh is known as caruncles. The parts have names depending where it grows from the bird. Throat is the wattle, top of head is the crest or comb chickens have, and turkeys have snoods that grow from the forehead that dangles over the beak.
Because of its stance and spikes I thought dracanon could have been a draft for typhlosion but now that you say it's a turkey I cannot unsee it! Btw loved that you added cacterror to the poryco universe, it will be best friends with sporivine
Imo, Lickysticki could be really interesting with slighty adjusted stats (110 HP, 105 Atk, 95 Def, 60 Sp.A, 90 Sp.D, 50 Spe) and Speed Boost as its ability. Give it some driving related moves (U-Turn, Flame Wheel, High Horsepower) and make it evolve by leveling up after hiting max. power rollout.
9:30 im pretty sure thats an early design for druddigon. It looks very rocky and angular which fits well for druddigon who is the cave dragon for unova. Edit: 13:50 if you squint, the silhouette looks very similar to finished druddigon. The tail becoming the wings, the neck spikes becoming part of the large head, the stance being much the same. I wonder what led to them changing this design?
@TearfulZorua They probably wanted to go with a more Western/Pop Culture stereotypical depiction of a cave dragon. Druddigon fits that bill well. Dracanon here really doesn’t feel like you would see it in a cave mostly due to the tail and it’s coloring. It feels like it looks more like if it got parts from a boat I would say?? They probably used the design here for both Druddigon and Carracosta.

nice to see that even the pokemon deign team likes to start at 1000% on occasion before reeling it back in to make it more in line with standard pokemon art style also mystery kaiju mon looks like a beta carracosta
Lickysticki could have an ability that increased the power of attacks that involve rolling by 1.5x. The name could be Wheel Force. And it would also have a normal-type signature move that would deal 60 damage and increase its speed by one level. This attack would be a rolling attack so it would have the ability buff. In a pokemon with higher base stats this would be quite op, but with 85 in attack this pokemon is just good.
Lickysticki edit: Normal-Rock, which I know doesn't do well for type advantages, but his Rollout-required evolution method makes me think he would be a road-rolling wheel that eats things up as it trundles down hills Cacterror edit: Maybe Grass-Ground? Especially since it's so rooted in place Dracanon edit: I love drGon turkey 😊❤
I see the turkey Pokémon ( Dracannon ) as one of the prehistoric mega fauna, the giant sloth (Megatherium), those things were killing machines and weighed a couple tonne. Very similar frame.
12:45 I think this pokemon is based on Cockatrice a dragon mixed with chicken, the arms with the spikes look like wings with feathers, and all the details you mentioned in the video
Dracanon’s sprite immediately looked like carracosta to me, this looks more like a land bound form though.. the tail could be used to whip up sand for cover while hunting. Love these designs and can’t wait for your next video :)
Dracanon: the Burrow pokemon. A dragon and ground type. This strange pokemon was created by Poryco from fossil pokemon from many eras in an attempt to bring different eras together. This led to an unstable monster that only desires to eat, sleep, and dig. Dracanon has caused a fortune of damage to the Poryco facility.
The forces of nature quattro are based on Japanese Shinto gods and their therian forms on the four "Auspicious Beasts." And according to what was previously revealed, there were originally supposed to be four and the previously cut fourth member was retroactively introduced in the Legends Arceus.

I actually think Dracanon is an early concept for Excadrill. Like the digging is there, as well as the colours and spikes. But I think they had too many dragon resembling pokemon there, so they changed it to a mole.
Despite their scary visage and eerie call, Cacterrors lack the confidence and aggression of Cacturns. They prefer to be sedentary, and are often used as granary guardians :)
Honestly? My instinctual thoughts was that the 'Dracanon' beta design was just an early concept of Baxcalibur. Though it could have also been a fossil pokemon that got scrapped.
I saw "Dracanon" and thought it might have some relation to Druddigon in terms of a few design elements, largely the chest/belly designs, the arm spikes and spikier outline. It feels potentially like a counterpart rather than an evolution or alternate design.
lickitung evolves into lickilicky after knowing rollout. And the beta lickilicky design or lickysticki is more wheel shape it's body more built for using rollout. Ability to give for lickysticki. No guard to make rollout land every time. Thick fat look at it. Sticky hold probably is. Extra ability gluttony.

You know, fairly often beta Pokemon become Pokemon in future games. Sometimes it is tweaked, sometimes its nearly identical. If you like any of the beta Pokemon, there is some hope it will be in future games.
Draconon was from the gen 5 leaks so it wasn't a beta Groudon I do feel like it definitely could have been a scrapped pseudo legendary final evo and it might have been scrapped because they couldn't find out previous evolutions for it or that it was potentially a scrapped 3rd fossil like Aerodactyl figuring that gen 5 was supposed to be a soft reboot to the series and gen 5 had a lot of similarities with gen 1
My first thought when I saw the turkey/dinosaur sprite was that it was a beta Rhyperior, but I'm pretty sure it was found in gen 5? Maybe it was meant as a split evolution or something? I can see what you mean with it looking like a turkey though, the tail (?) *does* look pretty similar to a turkey's tail feathers. Edit: Thundurus and Tornadus are based on Raijin and Fujin respectively. I don't know too much about Japanese mythology, but apparently they're the Shinto gods of Lightning and Wind
tbh i think draconon was supposed to be an evo to tirtouga just look at carracosta, long arms, short stubby legs, beaked head, long claws, kinda a shell forming on its neck (the red part) and the scaley underbelly either it was gonna be an evo to tirtouga/carracosta cus it does share similarities to carracosta maybe it wouldve been a 2 stage fossil, or its own two stage turtlemon or maybe it was gonna be an original one stage turtlemon fossil that was a rock water before they had scrapped it and came up with carracosta
You know you're truly a master artist when you branch into something you don't normally do and nail the fuck out of it. Working in what you feel are limited constraints and doing wonderful work anyway is really inspiring to see!! Definitely subbing. Also, tiny linguistic nitpick- "pre-evolution" as a term for your fakemon is a little confusing, as pre-evo(lution) already refers to a pre-evolved Pokemon, and yours are regressions or de-evolutions. Pre-evo also suggests that they can evolve again, which DOES fit(maybe? If the regressed forms are capable of evolving?) but since the artificially-induced transformation is making a Pokemon regress, I'd suggest maybe renaming the resulting Pokemon a de-evo(lution) or re(gressive)-evo(lution). Devolving is already a minor topic touched on in the anime, and regression is going backwards from a better state of being. Idk, just seems more accurate to me. I love what you are doing here, and I hope to see more of it soon!!!

Basickly in the Pokemon world's equivalent of Oklahoma. Tornado county.
9:30 it looks a lot like Kommo-o. Maybe it was meant to be a Mix of Comodo dragon and a frill-neck-lizard.
I hope by za or gen 10 we get a very close recreation of the brown monster
4:51 that's a straight out of a analog horror creature then a pokemon
I think these Pokémon are probably going to come back real soon.
Draconon was from the gen 5 leaks so it wasn't a beta Groudon I do feel like it definitely could have been a scrapped pseudo legendary final evo and it might have been scrapped because they couldn't find out previous evolutions for it or that it was potentially a scrapped 3rd fossil like Aerodactyl figuring that gen 5 was supposed to be a soft reboot to the series and gen 5 had a lot of similarities with gen 1
... I always forget lickitoungue has an evo. For good reaaon.
Edit:
Thundurus and Tornadus are based on Raijin and Fujin respectively. I don't know too much about Japanese mythology, but apparently they're the Shinto gods of Lightning and Wind
Lickisticky should have a solid 60 more BST in Speed, it won't be broken.
tbh i think draconon was supposed to be an evo to tirtouga just look at carracosta, long arms, short stubby legs, beaked head, long claws, kinda a shell forming on its neck (the red part) and the scaley underbelly either it was gonna be an evo to tirtouga/carracosta cus it does share similarities to carracosta maybe it wouldve been a 2 stage fossil, or its own two stage turtlemon or maybe it was gonna be an original one stage turtlemon fossil that was a rock water before they had scrapped it and came up with carracosta
Has Game Freak or The Pokemon Company ever released an official art book?
Because if they haven't yet, they totally should!
The sprite that became dracanon feels like groudon, but the sprite is a gen 4 or gen 5 sprite, so I genuinely don't know what it is.
Damn... Dracanon would have been my favourite pokemon had it not been cut xD
(My current is Aggron)
