Now I'm certain - The entire plot of the show was based and revolved around WD. In a show known for color and life... White Diamond is colorless and lifeless She's the end game. The final boss. No one is safe while she is active.
Steven is a protagonist who solves all his problems with emotional openess, communication and understanding. We now have a villan who is emotionaly detatched and cannot be reasoned with. It's perfect.
@Lunar Robot, they can, all conflict comes from misunderstanding. A compromised can be reached! It's just hard sometimes. And honestly this is one of the first shows to write like this I've seen, every other cartoon is about always beating the "bad guy" and locking them up 5 ever or killing them or banishing them.
Fandom guy they can if they want to. But not everyone wants to. That's what people need to realize. You can't force someone to see your point of veiw and expect them to have a change of heart just by talking to them. That's not how life works. Not everyone is going to be willing to listen to you or give you a chance. And not everyone is willing to compromise. There are situations that can't be sorted out by talking. If you're kidnapped by a serial killer, are you going to try and talk to them about their feelings and think they'll let you go if you're nice to them? Talk is cheap.
I'm equally intruiged by Yellow and White this episode. At first glance it looks like Yellow has acclimated to the new situation SUPER quickly. She almost seems *bored,* while Blue is just happy to have "Pink" back. I don't think she really HAS acclimated that fast, though. I think Yellow is internalizing *hard* trying to keep a lid on things. I'd be surprised if what she describes as a "6,000 year screw up" hasn't actually shaken her pretty badly inside and she's just covering it up by being all business. White, is, um...fascinating. I read a theory that White is glad to have Pink back because she was grooming her for something, and that definitely seems in line with her actions. The second Steven actually gets a word in I expect White to snap HARD.
The Ponderer I think she Is annoyed at her sister for possibly pranking her for eons. At least that's how I take it. Yellow thought her sister was dead but it turns out she was alive all along (in her eyes) and all the suffering and mourning was for nothing
Many suspect, that white is the ultimate enemy for steven. I mean, every enemy so far, how evil they might have seemed to be, had a reason for their actions, and could be talked to and reasoned with, even yellow diamond wasnt exempt to this, it was just really hard. White might be the only character in this universe, that you cant ever reason with, and thus is impervious to stevens strongest weapon.

That giant pink ass! I think the crewniverse have been trying to figure out how to draw a pair of disembodied legs as a cool or intimidating space ship, and ultimately gave up and gave us something beautifully absurd.

I get why they released it, because eventually people would have been able to post crappy videos of it online, people right after it was shown were posting summaries of the episode on twitter, audio had already been released on youtube and the crewniverse works hard for their work to not be spoiled. I do agree that it kinda stinks that this is an incomplete part of a whole series, however, this is episode 25 so it is probably the season finale of season 5, so it makes sense as to why they didn't show the other parts

I feel like the ending was too abrupt. There was no dramatic music to finish it off and I feel as they chose the wrong part of "Love like you" because it was a very dramatic part of the song right after a quiet ending, which makes it unexpecting; more so than usual.
I like the abrupt ending, mostly because of the hilarious reactions that people are having to it. It also fits with the events leading up to it. It only elevates the massive feeling of 'wrongness' and power that surrounds White Diamond, the fact that she denies Steven a confrontation, a chance to talk or even a proper ending.
I think they used that ending due to steven universe ending, the song seems a slow finishing part of the series, I might be wrong though, but since we finished the P.D. ending outro we came back to that song again, I guess.
There's actually so much more in this episode if you really really pay attention to it. 1. The diamonds didn't know about corruption, they assumed they had shattered all gems still on the Earth's surface. 2. Three diamonds' powers was enough to cause corruption but the combined force of three diamonds isn't enough to heal the corruption of even just one gem permanently. 3. White pearl was clearly abused by her diamond, so much so that it shows on her physical form. 4.White Diamond isn't fazed by Steven at all. She addresses him as if he were his mother and as if the war she had started was nothing more than the ten minute temper tantrum of a five year old. 5. White sends Steven to his mother's former room, further displaying how little she regards them both, what they have to say, or their threat to her.

There’s a theory that whites pearl was actually pinks original pearl so white gave her pearl to pink to shaped her up and pink pearl (since they resemble they’re diamonds and their attitude so maybe the original pink pearl was torn by white diamond her eye removed bc white does physical damage, blue does emotions idk bout the other too but still. I think white might have proven her point by ripping her eye out. Or her gem might have been there but replaced Hence the cracked head.
One thing that sucks is that Peridot and Lapis stayed back on Earth. That means either: A) We don't see them for a very long time or B) We aren't staying on Homeworld for very long.

One new theory i saw around and that makes a lot of sense is that our t-posing greek goddess white diamond was formed naturally from a white dwarf, small stars that thanks to their nature can become entirely made out of crystallized carbon, aka made out of fucking diamond. It shows in a lot of ways from white, from how she shines, to how she is filled with star motifs (in her cape, in the shape on front of her toga, from her star-shaped hair, from even the stuff she says to steven, thanks the stars and hello starlight, this last one that you liked so much even appared on the sketch of white diamond rebecca sugar released recently) the more i think about this the more this all makes sense.

I liked that we got the episode outside of Comic Con. If we didn't we'd just sit here with a bunch of spoilers. Granted, the entire episode was completely spoiled within the span of a few minutes after its Comic Con release anyway, but now we can actually be excited about the next episode. And I thought Yellow was intimidation when I first saw her. White gives me such passive-agressive vibes (not to mention it also remainds me in a way of Stepford Wives). She remainds me of a mother that's bottleing her anger. I mean, she literally didn't let Steven speak and sent him to ''his'' room!
There’s a theory that whites pearl was actually pinks original pearl so white gave her pearl to pink to shaped her up and pink pearl (since they resemble they’re diamonds and their attitude so maybe the original pink pearl was torn by white diamond her eye removed bc white does physical damage, blue does emotions idk bout the other too but still. I think white might have proven her point by ripping her eye out. Or her gem might have been there but replaced Hence the cracked head.

Ummm have you seen white! If I realized I screwed up, left a decent sized mess of corrupted gems annnnnd had to report that to white..yeah I'd want to fix it as soon as possible so i'm not in a bubble.. she's already passive about pretty much everything pink did. I'd feel like if she was told about corruption she'd just shatter yellow and blue without a second guess!

One new theory i saw around and that makes a lot of sense is that our t-posing greek goddess white diamond was formed naturally from a white dwarf, small stars that thanks to their nature can become entirely made out of crystallized carbon, aka made out of fucking diamond. It shows in a lot of ways from white, from how she shines, to how she is filled with star motifs (in her cape, in the shape on front of her toga, from her star-shaped hair, from even the stuff she says to steven, thanks the stars and hello starlight, this last one that you liked so much even appared on the sketch of white diamond rebecca sugar released recently) the more i think about this the more this all makes sense.
