@@Agoateeman you meant to say France provided crumbs to Niger in return for looting their national resources? This aid thing is another weapon used against the people of Africa to cover up the huge exploitation carried out against them.
Africa has all the resources they need, they don't need bread crumbs disguised as aid from Europe and America which almost always comes with strings attached. They should be treated as equal partners in business for them to rise up and sustain themselves, instead of having these one sided transactions that benefit the west more than the people of Africa.

But there are 2 countries that are desperate for it - France and the USA. and they don't want to pay fairly for it, and they both could only get Uranium from Russia or Niger. And they don't want to be dependent on the Russian resources. If they make the country more unstable, and blame Russia for the coup - even better. They could extract the Uranium for free. Only idiots explain things ideologically. Find a resource idiots! Cui bono?

If the west truly cared they'd be building huge infrastructure, providing health care etc. But instead France is raping and pillaging its former colonies. I'm in New Zealand we are independent of the British Empire but still part of the commonwealth yet we do not have British troops based in our country. Why do the French have troops in all of the former French colonies? Niger according to the article had peace for 13 years a good achievement. When the coup happened the commander stated that the French remove their troops. That to me is the clear reason of it happening.

It was interesting to note that while she named the countries where the coup d'etats took place, she omitted the coup d'etat in Tchad, which is a coup d'etat in favour of France. Good English does not mean good journalism. Do not think people are stupid. In many African countries, the level of geopolitical awareness is very high. They may be poor, but they are not stupid. They will no more automatically listen to old feckless puppet politicians. When the right conditions occur no one will be able to hold this generation of africans back. That is what they are after and they have nothing more to lose in this pursuit.

So whatever corruption the leaders commit in their country against their people will be covered and the Western leaders will turned a blind eye to it, provided that leader will be transferring his huge looted funds to their country and not be in opposition to the West. Russia and China are better that any Western country in terms of sincerity, relationship with any nation and especially, the African nations. Their business proposals are based on mutual benefits of both sides, and they're the only countries that are interested in seeking to build and to help others progress and develop. France, US and Germany were present in the country but terrorists were allowed to run amock. This led to the coup. The president is from an ethnic group that is 0.4% of the population, he was NOT fairly voted into power, it was passed down to him. If we admit what the issues were, those involved can find a solution to the problems that led to the coup in the first place. She nailed it. I am from Niger and from the second ethnic group and i know the election of Mohamed BAZOUM didn't sit well with lot of people from my ethnic group and the first one. The best thing is: BAZOUM was elected with the voices of the major ethnic groups. The army on the other hand, is another story. They really didn't like it.

Wagner is not it’s own Country it consists of Russian people and they attacked a sovereign country, Ukraine. That’s the bottom line. No peace and harmony just a hidden agenda to rape the wealth of nations. Cut and dry it is what it is, war crimes. Criminals stick together.

Africa is not Ecowas, Burkina Faso and Niger. Your title is misleading and frankly insulting. So many countries in Africa are not involved in this matter. It's like saying Asia is headed for war when India and Pakistan are having skirmishes.

Mentioning that Russia has officially condemned the putsch in Niger would have added a touch more balance to the narrative. Otherwise, very informative and well-presented.
