Viewer Ewoks42 asked "where most of bookmark/store apps stumble, is: How it handles linkedin posts, medium articles, single tweets and tweet threads?" I thought that was an interesting question, so I made a really quick follow up here: ruclips.net/video/yJp2ssc_yeE/видео.html
Hi, Hoarder’s maintainer here! Thanks for the video and for showcasing Hoarder! Also I hear you about the UX of the bulk actions, will get it improved. Thanks for the feedback!
Great project....but is there a way to edit a link other than creating a new object? I imported some links that were no longer valid, so I'd like to edit the link to say just the homepage of the site, instead of the page that no longer exists. The only thing I see is to create a whole new object link and delete the one that points to the dead page.
I'd love to know more about how you have the set up and working together. If you wanted to email me with more info, that would be cool! david (@) dbtechreviews (.) com
Hi all. It's a suggestion for a way to do things. I wish I was as involved in this type of work to do it. Things like this are in my plans but I'm tiptoeing in with my spare time.
The most interesting question for me, where most of bookmark/store apps stumble, is: How it handles linkedin posts, medium articles, single tweets and tweet threads? p.s. great video, once again ;)
Regarding setting this up with Portainer, it's not hard - you can either create a pseudo .env file, or actually just add the environment to the compose yaml directly - the syntax supports that.
@@DBTechYT I figured that was it - honestly I just put it into an environment section and be done with it, so I don't have to make sure it moves around or gets into git or whatever. Command line is fine too, but I tend to move around different environments a lot, so if I forget to check it in I'll lose it.
Not a bad option to "hoard" links and stuff in one place. On the fence with the AI integration and if I have to pay for the AI from a cloud-hosted option, it is a deal breaker. I know that most self-hosted AI won't have specific features to take the place of what cloud-based is doing but it would be nice to have it as an option.
Honestly it's a toss up. One thing I REALLY liked about Readeck is that it auto-categorizes Articles, Vidoes, and Pictures. If Hoarder did that, I'd 100% say Hoarder, but I guess it depends on which features you need the most.
I currently use Pocket as my dumping ground for any links that I may get to later... so I can certainly see myself using something like this as a replacement. 🙂
How does this tool compare to just using notion with a chrome extension (notion saver), which I have been using for quite a while now and works really well. Offcourse, the only difference here I see is that we can host the data ourselves using Hoarder vs cloud (notion). I am going to stick with notion for now. Thanks for the informational video.
Very good video, Thank you! Just wanted to ask, do you happen to know if there is a way to select and delete many links at once, because i imported links from a browser and now i want o get rid of them... Thanks!
Seems like deleting a list isn't going to delete the bookmarks. You'll have to manually delete the links. You can bulk delete the links by clicking the pen tool at the top right of the page, then selecting the links you want to delete, and then deleting them. The developer is working on updaing the bulk edit/delete feature
How do I make a hoarder account or whatever? I got the app on my phone and I’m not sure if I’m like a moron or something but I don’t know how to set it up.
it's probably pulling low-res images from RUclips thumbnails for some reason. I used the default docker-compose and am getting 720p images. is your reverse proxy doing any compression?
@@DBTechYT No, nothing. Was looking at the environment configs, does not look like there is a value to say how the quality should be. I mean, it is not the end of the world, it just looks not so nice.
Link crawling fails on my installation, anybody else? Could not figure it yout yet. I have this in the log of the chrome-container: [1002/154648.817397:WARNING:dns_config_service_linux.cc(427)] Failed to read DnsConfig.
I fixed it. I am using a proxy network, and i forgot to add "networks: - reverse-proxy" to my compose file. My bad, sorry. The quality of the preview pictures is really bad, i can count the pixels without having an idea, what there should be to see. Maybe i'm still missing something, time for some RTFM :)

I've been using hoarder for a while now. It's been great.
Hi David, the fact that you made a 35 min video tells me this is a good, usable program. i will try it with my bookmarks. -Dino
I hope you check it out! it's a great program that is still being developed :)
Hoarder + cheerio + obsidian + RAG = personal assistant

Yes. Describe more pls
elaborate on it, please

@@DBTechYT huge thanks for answering and demoing it so fast... didn't see that coming thanks a lot
Some really cool features.
Thanks David. Great video as always. Maybe I'll map my Obsidian links to this in stead of to the actual webpages...
@@innesleroux9439 this is a great idea that I hadn’t considered. I’m always worried the external links in my notes will go away one day.
Reminds me of delicious bookmarks.
I could see that! :)

yeah I know. I just don't like to use .env stuff with Portainer.

would love to see them add a self-hosted AI option to this!
Hoarder already supports self hosted AI using ollama 😉
Oh man, I just set up Readeck. In your opinion which one to do like better?

@@DBTechYT I saw that. It'll come in handy as I don't like how Pocket does a couple of things!

I've never used Notion, so I have no idea. You could try this and compare them :)
selfhosting is THE feature here, so when one day notion decides to unplug, you don't regret decision you made long time ago

@@DBTechYT Oh! Great thank you i didn't notice that.
Very curious how you'd compare this to Linkwarden. I like the AI tagging piece here, but migrating from my large archive in Linkwarden is daunting.
Linkwarden is more evolved at this point, but Hoarder is a relatively new app that is still in active development
I started building this type of app for me last week thinking nothing existed... guess I need to check it out before I write anymore code :/
Or keep building yours! Nothing wrong with having options in the open-source community! :)
Would be even better if you could drag a web page straight into the app from other open tabs

Did you install Hoarder on your Docker server?
@ Okay yeah I’m definitely an idiot. What is a docker server and how would one go about setting that up?
Why is my notifications not working? Freaking RUclips! Anyway, thanks for another informative video.
Friggin RUclips. I try to release videos Wednesday and Saturday at 6am MST. Thanks for checking out the video!
I have trouble trusting a link given how often they just disappear together with whatever knowledge in there
I have no idea what you mean. Trusting *what* link?
MKBHD should have been tagged as 'scammer'
Also no 2FA for the accounts?
if I do not wanna use AI, how could it turn off?
the openai is optional. just don't put an openai key in it
Anyone else got blurry preview pictures from RUclips links? All other links are fine.
