Hypeman/ Donald Woods and I frequent the same restaurant around Kotto. This restaurant in question belongs to my very good friend. To show his support for my craft as an artist, 90% of the music played in that restaurant are mine and that’s how Donald Woods got to listen to my songs.
One fateful day, Donald Woods approached me claiming to have shared few of my songs with some of his South African Partners and there’s this South African artist who’s very much interested in one of my songs, in fact, this artist wants to buy the song.
I told Donald Woods I can sell the song but not my author’s right.. Donald refused. He said lemme sell everything besides the cash in question is good but I refused. Mind you, Donald never put me in contact with the said ‘’ South African artist “ ..we never spoke even for once.
When Donald couldn’t convince me to sell my song, he went silent for a while only to appear weeks later with another proposal. Donald Woods said, I have a huge fanbase in South Africa 🇿🇦, he claimed South Africans do love my music so he advised I travel to SA that way I can properly introduce myself to my South African audience and equally network. He further mentioned there’s an upcoming show in South Africa he would want me to perform at but it will cost me 1.5million Frs CFA
Prior to Donald’s proposal, another Cameroonian artist BIG G BABA who’s also a friend of mine had asked I give him a sum of 550,000frs for to take me to South Africa for a show. I was hesitant to give BIG G the money cuz he’s my friend and I know how he gets when money is involved.
Because Donald Woods has once managed Kocee and has equally worked with other top Cameroonian artists like Blanche Bailly, I decided to trust and work with him. Few days later, I called him and proposed 600,000frs instead of 1.5million like he had requested. Besides Big G is ready to take me to SA to perform in that same show for a lesser amount and he agreed to take the money so we agreed to meet at that same restaurant for the transaction.
Days later, Donald Woods and I met at my friend’s restaurant and in the presence of my two friends who served as my witnesses, I transferred the sum of 605000frs to his account. Weeks later, I was still in Cameroon 🇨🇲 while Big G and Co had already traveled to SA for the same show..so I called Donald who assured me that everything was under control and I would be traveling soon so I should get my bags ready. Days later, I called again but this time all I heard were excuses and he ended asking for a little time.
Fast forwarding, those who traveled to SA 🇿🇦 for that show finally returned to Cameroon 🇨🇲 and that’s when I called Woods who was already avoiding my calls demanding for a REFUND and that’s when the problem started’’ 6TY on The Review With Darling Lyonga
