- Did you know that Judge Roy Scream, one of the most beloved wooden roller coasters ever, was named after the famous Texas Justice of the Peace, Judge Roy Bean? He was a real cantankerous old coot, and the ride that bears his name is no different. You’ll be darting around like a real whippersnapper on this classic, tall wooden structure.
To get there, use the tunnel in Goodtimes Square. Judge Roy Scream is definitely worth seeking out. At 65 feet tall and zooming over the tracks at 45 miles per hour, this whooshy race over the rails is family friendly, even making for a great transition for younger riders who are in training for the mega-coasters. The rest of us will think it’s just plain fun.

When I was a kid, I once rode this coaster twenty times in the same day. It was in the middle of summer on a weekday and there wasn't much of a line. Then when I was old enough to get a job, I worked at Six Flags over Texas for two or three years. It's bittersweet memories but I'm glad to have them back. I had a coma this past summer and recovered memories through therapy. Watching this video was pretty incredible, given the circumstances. That first drop after "APPEAL DENIED" still gets me, even virtually. It's still fun. I wonder if I went back there next spring... I'll put it on the list of things I need to do post coma. I'm amazed the ride is still there decades later. I wonder if Shock Wave is still there too.
Shockwave is still there!
Glad you recovered and hope you can get out there and enjoy yourself
Hey Bro the same thing happened to me at Six Flags but I’m still a child but anyways me and my friends church group went on a weekday and ALL and I mean ALL rides were walk-ons even in Texas Giant and even Titan it was crazy they said we could ride as many times as we wanted we just had to change seats every time
@@Superdog-117
Dude! Lucky!
@@Blake4625kHz Thanks Bro
One of the most iconic woodies in six flags history!
Toy story
Yup.. Still looks like a back breaker. Make it smooth again!
Yeah!
It hurts 4sure
It felt fine today
You must’ve never rode el Toro 😹
Yes it hurts but take it like a Texan it’s an oldie but a goodie even if it is a back breaker
I was a sophomore in high school when this opened, and we rode it a million times … and then a million more… a legend and a classic. ❤
Underrated Woodie!
request: can y’all give this ride the ghostrider treatment from gci? new track, new trains, and new control system? that would make this ride top 5 in the park but as of now it’s not great sadly
It’ll feel like it will run a lot faster with GCI track. I’ve been on Boardwalk Bullet and that thing runs a LOT faster than it looks.
same@@MasonThatWeirdGuy
That would ruin the OG vibes of the rollercoaster
Trip down memory lane. I sickly hope they never change it😂 back in the day this and shockwave were biggest game in town.
It sadly wasn’t opened the two days I visited last month. I did get on everything else though. Definitely an awesome park. Shockwave, Titan and Runaway Mountain as well as the dark ride were all really welcome surprises. Aquaman is the coolest water ride I’ve ever been on. Watching it on video tells you nothing.
I love this coaster. The Wildcat of Elitch Gardens was a lot like it. A few tips: front seat is the very best. Otherwise, second row of any car is a non wheel seat and gives you a smoother ride. It really works: I ignored this rule a couple visits ago and did front rows of middle cars and it rattled my brain. I ranked the ride low that day. This time I followed the rule and despite not getting the front seat I loved the ride again. I even rode it twice in a row. But if you can get front seat, do it. You'll thank yourself. You feel it jump the tracks like old Wildcat
Looks a bit rough, but I’d love to ride it for the airtime!
what airtime? in all seriousness the only airtime moment is on the 2nd drop in the back
@TrainCoasterFan honestly all the last hills give good floater
@@TrainCoasterFan, the bunny hills on the return ride give great air time!
Earlier this year I was too afraid to even ride this, but with a bit of fear conquering I just got on the shockwave yesterday!
Nice I have a tip for you I know the bigger rides are scary but if you can push yourself to do it trust me they are really fun!
Sadly this ride was down on my last visit, still have yet to ride on this since I moved to DFW.
Classic
I wish they re made this ride by rmc like they did Texas giant I swear this would automatically be a huge hit for the park it needs another killer ride
The last time I rode this from a couple of weeks ago it hurt my back and head, it was jerky.
This ride is closed for the season. I wonder if it's just track work or if they're going to make some changes, like backwards trains!
This makes me have a severe headache but I still like to go on it anyway!
It ran really smooth on 6/15/2024. I rode 2nd row followed by 1st row and no headache at all. The 2nd row ride in partucular was very smooth and comfortable but the front row ride was at least 3x more fun seeing the track right in front of you and feeling the wheels jump a bit.
The only classic wooden coaster in Texas since Astroworld's Texas Cyclone went down along with the whole park!
Still sad about astroworld though!
Angle the camera down a tad to see the track better. I felt like i was hovering the whole time lol
I really did scream.

So new
Request: do an updated version of Mr. freeze
I'm going today
Happy National Roller Coaster Day, Everyone! 🎢
Why have you guys not updated your park in 20 years?
added aqua Man.....that took 3 yrs. though!
Make it a hybrid or just tear it down already you can build a beautiful roller coaster right there over the water
I bet you'll be right sooner than later, but I don't think this year. I think they'll give DFW's last woodie a send-off season.
It was long since due (20 years ago) for an upgrade of this forgotten about relic!
Oh, sure, Six Flags will upgrade ever and build bigger better attractions at Magic Mountain, but completely neglect its "lesser" parks.
I feel like judge Roy scream is a less scarier version of the Texas giant
The Texas Giant is not scary 😨 me bit. But that is my opinion. I am not afraid of roller coasters bc I know that I am safe on them!
The ride is extremely rough, and the turnaround is very generic (a banked drop or other feature could take its place). Let GCI, or even better, Gravity Group restore and improve this ride to really show its full potential.
My great grandfather worked on the construction of this coaster.
This looks smooth but it feels like falling of a balcony with 100 massage guns taped to your head and back
Sit in the middle of a car (non wheel seat) or the front row.
@@andrewphilpott3220 ok I’ll try it
And I meant front row of the whole train or middle row of any car including the first. And I feel like raising my arms helps but maybe it doesn't.
This ride hurts my brain lol
Either ride front row or pick the middle seat of any car to make it a better ride.
Build king da ka
Nah
Something bigger and better then kinda ka
Bro doesn't have enough space to build this
Have a friend whos grandpa broke ribs on this ride
The slide closes 10 times a year
I meant ride
RMC needs to bring new life to this coaster.
They already got New Texas Giant so that would be pointless. Maybe they could bring in GCI to retrack it or add titan track
This ride rough af and will knock a tampon out you need to think twice lmao
It's fun but the ride is rough you're lucky to come back with all your teeth lol
Like this comments if y’all know that judge Roy scream was the first ride at six flags
The first ride of six flags is the antique cars which is now the dinosaur ride
RMC this or tear it out!
Yuck. RMCs are everywhere. It's generic, boring, overdone, and usually removes a lot of the G-forces that make wooden roller coasters so exciting (the tragic New Texas Giant retrofit is a great example). Give it to GCI or, even better, Gravity Group to refresh.
This ride is as jerky as you can get.. personally think they could put another ride or coaster in that spot but I get this ride is old and brings back nostalgia for some. Just too jerky for me
They could update the track like they did with the Rattler in Fiesta Texas. I'd definitely ride this one if it had a smoother track.
It wasn't too rough at least to me
