    JOM with an uncanny ability to find himself in the middle of the scrum. Once again brilliant production. We can thank the son of Sam Walmart for help with the events in Bentonville.

    Thanks for showing us Big Sugar, looks like too much fun for anyone to have in a single day. And only gravel stars can get away with wearing sunglasses in the pre-dawn darkness. :)

    Great vid JOM. The Grizl 1x on that course made some work for you I am certain. Love riding Ozark gravel every time we go to Bentonville. My MTB friends think I am crazy when I bring a gravel bike and a MTB on our trips down there. Great to see my friend Jeff (your alternate cameraman) made the video as well.

      Thank you! 40T x 44 small gear barely cut it on one of the 19% grades that I recall, staying seated and weight forward got me through. I would have preferred 38T on a 1x for this review bike, but supply and demand, you take what you can get. You're a wise man bringing two bikes, Bentonville is such a cycling paradise for all disciplines. Jeff, top bloke, had some good convo before we rolled into Pineville, MO, and the inevitable rain :)

    Great video GC! I was one of the two guys riding Cervelos you pointed out. Gnarly course and a fun day. Dropper post would've come in handy.

      Thanks Steve! The dropper was so handy on the tricky descents, particularly in the moist sections post rainfall.

    I love Jom’s descending skills. Wish I could descend like that on the gravelly roads less travelled

    Always enjoy your event videos. Hoping you’ll do an in-depth review of the Grizl after putting it to proper test. Lately, I’m finding myself being drawn to the front suspension-on-a-gravel-bike thing and could definitely use a well informed reality check. Keep up the great work!

      Thanks Richard! I'm hoping to post the review of the Grizl soon, it has been to California twice, plus Arkansas, and a bunch of other general riding.

    I did the 53 ..It was a great ride very scenic. Did you see the crash shortly after the brewery? It was horrible.

    • @GravelCyclist
      @GravelCyclist  3 года назад

      No, did not see the crash you speak of, just a few minor bingles. I hope whomever was involved is recovering fast and well.

      You may have longer climbs, but they aren't steeper (or even as steep). I heard 31% at one point.

    • @GravelCyclist
      @GravelCyclist  3 года назад +1

      @@erich8258 For sure. Longer, gradual climbs are easier to ascend vs many of the steep climbs of the Big Sugar course. The climb towards the brewery was about 18%, and the climb out of the brewery, a similar gradient. Those were among the steeper grades I noted. With that said, I love the Big Sugar course, I hope it doesn't change in any way!

      Most of the Ozarks are dissected plateaus, so the topographic prominence isn't as visible as the hills were cut by erosion. There's a lot of steep gradient up & downs that can go on all day. That being said, you can rack up some good elevation & leg burning around here.
