And also I remember watching when I was younger them fighting the stone army and getting buried not being able to fight the indestructible warriors and Skales cry of NOOOOOO. Me and my friends talked about it for days as huge serpentine fans.
Pythor is the best snake king as he united the serpentine tribes as well as being the only serpentine that had a good relationship with all serpentine members. He also is the most powerful serpentine as well as he interacted with other villains and survived

Skales is my favourite, his character is really cool and he fits well with Pythor which is also an amazing character. The only downside is that he Uno reversed "OvEr ThE sIdE!" on me...
Skales Jr looking nothing like his parents kinda makes sense, we know that the 4 (excluding Anacondrai) OG tribes (Or at least the Hypnobrai) have some magicy thing about their ranks system, like the leader always having a tail. It might be that when he grows older and gets a higher rank he'll change his appearance
I actually headcanon that Ouroborus as another name for The Great Devourer, because Ouroborus is a mythological being that eats its own tail as it circles the world, which The Great Devourer does at the end of season 1 before Garmadon killed him. So ancient Serpentine giving that name to the Great Devourer I think wouldn't be too farfetched.
My theory for why Skales Jr. doesn't look exactly like his old man? Skales didn't always have gold... trimming? Is that what it's called? Also I assume the fact that Skales and his wifey aren't as identically shaped (contrary to how Skales and Slithraa look) could have caused some complications...

skales is a good villian but didnt have any plot armour, he plays obviuos, he defeated garmadon very easily and actually struggled for his position rather than forcefully becoming the ruler, he couldve been a great villian if he had plot armour
My head canon reason as to why Skales Jr looks like that is because the serpentine like actual snakes shed their skin multiple times in their life. His grey hood and less pronounced snout is because he’s simply hasn’t matured into a full adult yet, as he grows older and sheds his skin his scales will become blue and his face will become more and more snake like until he looks like Skales before he took over the Hypnobrai.
