I wish I bought a MK7 Golf, the amount of mods that can be done is unreal. I used to have a MK1 TT and mods for that weren't great if im honest as its old. Now got a new VW

First, congratulations for the great job and video review, it is very helpful. I am super interested in doing this mod. If you don't mind, could you please clarify a few things for me?
1. I installed an android auto wireless dongle to wirelessly connect my phone with the main media unit screen. Any idea if by installing this digital cockpit, this will interfere or impact me using Android auto wirelessly on the main car media screen?
2. In case my question above is confusing, after installing this cockpit, how do you connect your phone with Android auto to the main median screen unit, via cable or wirelessly?
3. When mirroring my phone screen into the digital cockpit, where is the audio coming out, from the speaker on the mother board (not great quality), or from the car speaker? In other words, is there a way to mirror my phone and get audio from the car speakers at the same time?

OEM can still mirror the inbuilt sat navs onto digital cockpit
Yep - it can show the built in navigation. But can’t show Waze or Google Maps is what I meant.
Hi. What does it look like if I have the original Virtual Cocpit Counter, but it is damaged? there is communication with its electronics, but the display, indicators and buzzer do not work... Can it be replaced with a universal one like yours?

Hi Bro ...i can't connect my cellphone to the Virutal Cockpit Unit? I can't find the RKCast with Bluetooth and in my Wifi? I only can connect my Cellphone to the USB cables of the Virtual Cockpit? It doesn't appear in the Bluetooth and Wifi? What is the name of the Android Mirror App?
There's a garage that offers this but no sure if it's the same unit as this one and they charge over £500 though!

I tried this on a diesel. I took it out because you can't display odometer, and it doesn't support diesel functions at all. The tach is all wrong. There is no glow plug activated light. anyone interested in mine? $100
My car is a Diesel. It runs fine. Need to change the tach from the settings to a Diesel one

@@muratozdemir3044 its possible for your golf. But not for 700€. Original price is about 1300€ in germany for the cluster alone. Programming and Coding costs extra. There are some coders in germany that are capable of doing that retrofit.

No error codes. Communicates with infotainment display. The map directions appear on screen. I’ll make another video soon showing it all

Works on any Golf that’s Petrol or Diesel. Doesn’t matter about transmission
Have you compared it to the oe digital dash. It looks low resolution on this video compared to my digital dash on the mk7.5r, like the oe is 1080p and this one is 720p. Is it maybe just your recording device.
It’s pretty clear. You can’t see any pixels on screen. Not sure what the res is on the original but this is HD. Also surprisingly the UI is more responsive than the stock one. I tried the UI on a MK7.5 GTE with stock VC

Haven’t really had an issue with brightness. Seems to be the right brightness during day and night. I’ll be making a follow up video soon
You can choose your brightness for day and night. The night brightness of the screen will be when your headlights come on

Can you use the HDMI of the Virtual cluster to have a direct input fron the android headunit, most android headunits have display output and can display waze or google maps on that external output and leave the headunit display free for anything else, thus makeing the call fell like its a stock function ?
It does have a HDMI port at the back. Haven’t used it yet as screen mirroring does the job. Will give it a try

@@avramflorin4216 I can answer that for you, the answer is no, i asked the seller, he said the hdmi is unused and is for any future upgrade, i have a hdmi output on my headunit, i suppose i could try it either way, would be awesome if android auto would also beam across from stereo, spotify on the stereo and waze on the cluster, im sure if enough of us ask someone may do something.
@@sciroccomods hey, thank you for your reply, unfortunately any future upgrade for this chinese clusters would be close to a miracle to be honest. Im interested in getting one for my VW CC that never got the OEM Virtual Clusters. Just upgraded my headunit to the Mekede M7+
On the original digital cluster you can't get the Waze map view but you get its directions. On Android Auto any map app gets its directions mirrored to the compass on the cluster. On CarPlay only Apple Maps but you also get remaining distance, distance to the corner/roundabout and ETA.
You do get directions with original VW maps on this as well. I’ll make another video soon explaining all the features
@@autoapna Nice! I was just sharing how the OEM works so it's easier to compare. On the OEM one you can only see the actualMp if you use the built-in navigation. Unfortenaly you can't mirror Waze and Maps as with that one...

How appalling is the sound quality teen streaming RUclips and connected to the head unit too?
Pretty good. Audio comes out the Dynaudio speakers. Wouldn’t recommend using the original speaker on the board. That’s usually for dash warnings.
Its shows top mph 160, on gtd its 180mph ast standard, can the VC be changed to 180mph
VC matches original board. I have a standard 1.6 diesel. It will match the GTD

Technically any modification needs to be declared to insurance. Adrian Flux is pretty good in terms of insurance for modified cars.

What method have you tried so far? I go to the Navigation screen. Press Down and then select RKCast under Screen Mirroring on my phone
@@autoapna Tried the same but get an error on the iphone. Also tried connecting through ip address and change Screen Mirroring to Airplay without success.

@@autoapna I did, had to change my iphone name to 1234 and password to 12345678. I think it did connect (my iphone was sharing internet to the cockpit) but everytime i pressed the Rkast in the screen mirror setting on my iphone I got an error.

Should work with MIB1 as you are using the same board and just attaching it to a new display. Listing says 2013-2019 without any mention of needing a specific MIB. Just send a picture of your steering wheel to the seller and he’ll confirm compatibility.
Hi, first time coming across your channel. Is there a chance you can show a detailed video of how you removed the motherboard and the whole motors for the needles and how you connected everything up. Im asking as I've seen some tutorials where others have broken some bits off, making the motherboard unable to go back into the old housing. Im also currently adding some mods to my car and was thinking of paying for a VC, but the prices I've seen on FB or Ebay are not worth it.
So regarding breaking off the board. Nothing needs to be broken off. Just removed off. So if you ever need to go back to stock. You can do.

Everything that was controlled from the original board is still the same. As we’re just connecting the existing board to a new display.
