  • This is the first video in the series, "From Willpower to Grace: Overcoming Addiction, Obsession, and Resentment," delivered by Fr. Ron Rolheiser at Oblate School of Theology.
The good that I want to do, I can’t do, and the evil I want to avoid, I end up doing. St. Paul uses those words to describe his own struggle and the struggle of all of us. We can’t stop ourselves from being overwhelmed at times by jealousy, obsessions, paranoia, wounds, bitterness, and the need for retaliation and revenge. We will the good, but often can’t do it. How do we change that? How do we source ourselves from some strength beyond us? This lecture series will try to give us some maps to help us find the means to move from fueling ourselves with dogged-willpower to being sourced by grace.
