    Would you also try to block off the openings where the refrigerant lines go into unit? Maybe with a flexible putty or something?
    Feeling massive air leaks coming out of those openings. Thanks for info 🙏

      I won't use a putty I would use the tape. I am not sure about which openings you are referring. Can you help me understand your question better please?

    Is air from the blower supposed to be blowing out at the base where the cabinet and the floor meets?

    • @ajthemaker5058
      @ajthemaker5058  2 года назад +2

      Hi, you should not be feeling air coming out from the base because that's where you have the blower pushing the air. It really depends how much air blowing out you mean. All HVAC machines should be a closed air system, so if there are gaps air will come out a tiny bit. This is due to metal against metal connections that are not air sealed in these units, and that's why you need to tape them.

    Will water leak if there’s a gap air can seep out?

    • @ajthemaker5058
      @ajthemaker5058  Год назад

      Depends how much water. Machines like the one in the video will create condensation which can be seen on the outside metal sometimes. Most of the water should be coming out of the condensation line, which tends to be plastic, and not through any other holes. Make sure your condensation line is clear.

    Does anyone have knowledge about air vents in an apartment building? We live on a 3rd floor, the apartment is nicely cool (a new AC unit went in this summer) except for one room (never did in the years I've been here). Maintenance has tinkered with it, but never checked for leaks, which I think is the issue. But how can they fix a damaged piece of ventilation that might be inaccessible?

    • @db3467
      @db3467 3 года назад

      Most Ductwork has dampers that control airflow . The damper is probably closed

      @ajthemaker5058  3 года назад

      Hopefully your apartment is an easy fix. I had to cut into sheet rock once to fix a vent that was clogged. (There was no air coming out even after 2 air conditioning companies came out to give me their feedback).

    How long should I wait before I turn the unit back on after doing this sealing method?

    • @ajthemaker5058
      @ajthemaker5058  3 года назад

      Hi Courtnie, you should be able turn on the machine within 1-2 hours after applying the sealing. The sealing should be hard.

    Never place MASTIC PASTE over foil tape. As the adhesion quality is only as good as what is in contact with the duct system
