It's my first and only MH game I've played so far. It was weird adjusting to it at first but the combat itself was really good. Got into it because combat felt, "From Software", similar plus sort of survival game mechanics. I love various, big and weird creatures
I am one of those over 2k hours in mhw and iceborne. Its a very solid package that anyone who is a fan of action games should suss out and give it a crack. I also adore Rise and Sunbreak the only problems i have with those iterations is the sos board not showing available quests. I love the improved speed and combo systems with the wire bugs. So much so that i bought a switch to play it.
I will be honest. Monster hunter to me is just big monsters, big weapons, big armor, go commit genocide. But I'm glad you had fun with it. The hammer move looks really fun to pull off. Reminds me of the shield surfing in Zelda. Have a great night.
The sword and shield is one of those weapons that is seems unimpressive at first glance. However if you delve a little bit deeper it has a ton of depth it rewards people who prep for a fight before iceborne it was the only class that could use its sling while without sheathing, monster about to fly away nope I’ve got 13 flashbombs to keep you stuck on the ground. I do love the perfect rush combo we got in iceborne it’s a nice trade off to what we lost and feels satisfying to pull off correctly. Also you can do clutch claw uppercut which is really cool. It’s been my main since 4 ultimate also it’s the second best mounting weapons as you can do a mounting attack while going up a ledge.
Yeah the game kinda fooled me by giving it to the player by default and making me feel like it was a placeholder beginner's weapon. Meanwhile it was low key OP this whole time lol

This was my first Monster Hunter game, and my favorite. I loved Rise/Sunbreak too, and I'm starting 4U. I hope you can enjoy more of this series.
4U is great but is a product of its time. Good luck, there Is a tone of game there.
