  • Hello everybody
I've been back in Switzerland since two weeks. It was a climate shock when I stepped off the plane in Zurich after four months of cycling in hot and humid conditions.
Today (March 17, 2024) was one of the first mild days and I made a Sunday ride in the vicinity of my home. While cycling I thought I would give you some information about cycling in Thailand. I will talk about the pros and cons of traveling by bike in Thailand. I'll cover the main points, but there's certainly more to say.

Living in Thailand for decades and having worked in Vietnam hours south of HCMC, you will find the infrastructure in Vietnam very basic when compared to Thailand, it is a long way behind. Look forward to catching those videos when you visit.

Thank you Peter. Until now I have always skipped Vietnam, somehow it has always stopped me because I secretly know that it is a controversial country that will also challenge me. But I still want to travel it at least once to find out how it affects me. I know it won't be as easy to travel around the country by bike as it is in Thailand. I will let you know

Love this Mike, thanks for sharing your thoughts & experience in Thailand.
Have you been a cyclist for many years?
When are you going back to Thailand?

Thank you for your comment! Yes, I am a keen cyclist since many years. First I took part in triathlon competitions, then I discovered traveling by bike. I hope, I will be back in Thailand in December 2024. Best regards

I do many couple day bikepacking trips. I salute your touring for months. Consider doing video of your touring bags and contents. What are essentials.

Thank you for your comment. I will be posting a video in the near future about essential items I carry on my trip. Packing a touring bike is always a matter of preferences, but one rule counts for every cyclist: "less is more". And especially for Asia, you don't need to carry much with you.

Actually you can just use your phone with a navigation app like Komoot. Or you get a navigation device like one from Garmin
