As golfer's we are quick enough to complain about the course. But with the British weather and knobs who can't repair pitch Mark's. Green keepers do a grand job for little praise from us golfers. Great video James
Keep up with the course maintenance videos. As a weekend maintenance person for Indian Hills in Tennessee for over 20 years, I still am learning methods & philosophies from other course superintendents.
I worked grounds crew for many years at the White Bear Yacht Club in Minnesota, USA. A Donald Ross designed course. It was an incredible feeling being able to say I was a part of making that course look the way it did. It was an honor in my opinion.
Superb. I am sure a lot of people go to the course and have no idea how it got that way. Also consider that most of this happens when no one is playing and the course is open on all days from dawn til dusk. It's magic.
The greens crew are the most valuable people at every golf course. All members/players should thank them for al, they do to make our game great! John has the perfect plan for a club championship….same quality just a tad bit quicker. Perfect! Cheers to the crew at Woolley Park!
That was great! One of the courses in my area had a falling out with their greens keeper and now they course is in shambles most of the greens are dead and fairways are almost like the rough.
Great video assistant superintendent myself at golf club in Sydney. I think it’s great to get more videos out like this for golfer to see how the golf course is set etc.
I do green's keeping at my local course (Brooklea Golf Club) and we just prepared for the Brooklea National Championship held by the Toronto Players Tour and no one knows how much preperatipn there is, start at 5:00am to get work done before golfers start arriving, great video as always James!!!
Glad our crew keep our course tip top shape year 'round. Pain in the arse when they aerate the greens but it's all for the benefit of making them perfect. Good vid James.
I played Woolley yesterday just before you made this video. I hadn't played there for 3 years but was an original junior member there when it opened in 1995 and its amazing to see how the course has developed and matured since then. It was in fantastic condition, testament to the work of the green staff. I'll be interested to see what score won the club championship!
Great video. Unreal golfer last weekend at Wakefield GC shot -9 thru 36 in our club champs. George Heath is a future professional. 6’8” absolute powerhouse. Shot -5 and -4 simply brilliant golf.
Green keepers definitely the unsung hero’s, out in all weathers getting the course ready for play (some of them do have a weird sense of humour when it comes to pin placements!🏌️⛳️
Love the way you keep finding ways to bring us new and interesting content! I don’t know how you do it! That was fun to watch! No kidding that looks a lot harder than I would have guessed!
Absolutely find it interesting. The unsung and oft-unfairly-maligned guys and gals toiling early in the morning and late in the evening to keep the course in shape, and especially for our club comps. What I find about my course is that the pins are far too often set WAAAY too close to the fringe - should be no less than 10' but often are less than 5'.
I really enjoyed the behind the scenes vlogs, Greenkeepers and staff are definitely the driving force behind any course. Going forward I would like to see the day in the life of a professional Caddie. How they became a caddie and how to get into the top echelons of the golfing elite.
love the hole cutter, in the US they do not have the plate to stand on, so we get a donut hole volcano lip to putt over and divert our putts, great job cheers!
I appreciate a good greenskeeping crew. Well done guys. Just played in a member/guest this morning and it's been super rainy but they haven't trimmed around the cups in ages. Lots of lip outs. Glad to see the cups getting cared for there! Maybe I should putt better and the 1/4th of an inch won't make a difference 🤣
Great insight James. I spent lockdown helping out the greenkeeping staff as I couldn’t play due to travel restrictions. Was a great insight into all the great work and effort put in to maintain our course 👏👏👍😉. Enjoyed it so much, still volunteering at least 1 day per week 😉.
That was a cool video James. I’ve played golf all my life and never actually saw that being done. Thank you for that and absolutely more vids like that would be awesome. 👍👍
Thanks for the support here, I hope my courses are helpful, I want you all to contact my friend brian through щhatsap for directive on how to start up a profitable Iпvestmeпt that will benefit all on Щhat-sap +••''1 -5 -5 -1 -3 -1 -6-8 -7 -1 -7.•''
Hello from Boston, MA! What a wonderful video and would love to see more like it. Kind of a 'behind the scenes' or 'day in the life of a grounds crew'. I can always count on being entertained by your videos so keep up the good work.
Always appreciative of the grounds crew. Tough job without a lot of praise! Ideal Stimp for a club championship is 10.5 to 11. Just fast enough, but not stupid fast for those 3 foot come backers. Too fast and we're looking at a 5.5 hour round!
9 is what I set on my EXPUTT because of an article I read years ago on typical values for handicap valid competitions. Clearly winter is different as is late in the day in summer. No white paint around the top of the hole to replace the white plastic protection of ordinary days?
Smoothness is more important than outright speed. I like about 10ft on the stimp. More than this putting becomes really difficult. What brand hole cutter is that?
Hope you got the boys a beer (no doubt you did). Greenskeepers are HEROS of any golf club. Dedicated and always seem happy doing what they do. More of these videos are great for learning about what goes on behind the scenes.
So this machine is just the roller? Id love to see how they cut the greens what length they cut the them to etc. I have a dream of putting 3-4 greens in my back yard
Depends on the slopes in the greens. If the slopes are extreme, then you don't want much more than 9 or 10. If the greens are a bit flatter, then I love 11 or 12 (my course here in Georgia USA is about 9 to 10 but there are huge slopes in some of the greens but my old course in Rhode Island, a Donald Ross course, was anywhere from 11 to 13 because there were less extreme slopes).
I'm a new subscriber to the channel. Really enjoying it so far. Obviously the playing content is brilliant but videos like this one are really good as well. Very interesting and good to see how much work goes in to these things. Great work all round 👏
9-11 definitely. 12 and up I just can't get close, less than 9 it feels like too much effort, putting up hill all day without any feel. Great grounds keepers are wizards!
I had no idea of the effort put into setting the holes for a round of golf. This was great to see. Thank you. Fairways and greens to those playing this weekend tournament. Have fun all.
Such a tiny roller, the one I use is much larger. The course where I work keeps the greens at a stimp close to 11. I hated it at first, now I would much rather play that than the public courses which are around 8-9.
I used to prepare the cricket pitches for my club, they are never right for everybody, golf course setups are exactly the same. People have lots of opinions of what it should be but have absolutely no idea what it takes to produce & maintain sports grounds.
As golfer's we are quick enough to complain about the course. But with the British weather and knobs who can't repair pitch Mark's. Green keepers do a grand job for little praise from us golfers. Great video James

Having spent fourteen years working on courses, this is a reminder of what I’m missing. Great job, yet so poorly paid. Thanks James.
Garbage pay so rich people can play golf. The line cooks in the clubhouse make more $$
Worked at a golf resort from 8th grade thru college graduation. Brings back great memories of doing everything they did. Thanks!

This is so true, there is so much work. I work at a golf course and the day before the tournaments it’s a scramble to get ready
The greens crew are the most valuable people at every golf course. All members/players should thank them for al, they do to make our game great! John has the perfect plan for a club championship….same quality just a tad bit quicker. Perfect! Cheers to the crew at Woolley Park!

I work in golf course scaping and it feels good knowing that people will play and have fun on your work
Always a good content the groundsmen don't get enough praise for the wor what's go's in to keep the course in good nick well done boys

Great vid James the grounds crews are so underrated or even ignored for what they do to make our experience on the course a pleasurable one
Glad our crew keep our course tip top shape year 'round. Pain in the arse when they aerate the greens but it's all for the benefit of making them perfect.
Good vid James.
Enjoyable video! All golfers should watch this video to appreciate the work involved in maintaining a golf course!

Enjoyed that James its nice to see what goes on to get a course ready to play
Great content this James and it’s amazing what the green keepers do for us golfers and for their clubs, always enjoy watching content like this
Really insightful seeing what goes into green keeping and maintaining the course…more pls!!
Always look forward to your next video….keep up the good work!
Green keepers definitely the unsung hero’s, out in all weathers getting the course ready for play (some of them do have a weird sense of humour when it comes to pin placements!🏌️⛳️
One of your best. Need more.
Love the way you keep finding ways to bring us new and interesting content! I don’t know how you do it!

The work that the ground staff do is underrated, full credit to you James for bring it to our attention.

Very interesting. I've always wondered how course setup works.
Never seen how they roll the greens before...Thanks cool video..been playing for 37 yrs
Great vid. Love seeing behind the scenes. Good luck to the guys in the club championship
Brilliant video and a nice change of pace from the norm 👍🏻

Great stuff, enjoyed it. Gave us an incite into what it takes to set up a course. Well done John and the lads. Looked like you had fun ont roller 🤗
I love this video, all aspects of golf is fun and challenging, and a video to show what’s involved is epic
I really like this kind of content. As a new golfer it’s cool to see what all goes into setting a course up.
My inner golf dork loves videos like this! Nice one mate.
Love the behind the scenes stuff. Nice job.
Thanks for that James! Good to see what’s involved in preparing the course.
It is definitely an effort and and art form. Looks good guys!!
Really informative and innovative content.
I find videos like this really interesting, to see the attention to detail fascinating
That was truly fascinating, it’s amazing how much work goes into it.
That was really informative. Thanks.
Great video, very interesting, big thanks to green keepers everywhere 👏🏻

I have a dream of putting 3-4 greens in my back yard
That was fun. Can we have a detail on the why of what they were doin.
Yes I enjoyed that very much thank you James xx
I love the greens keeping vids. rarest of all golf vids
James Robinson changing that hole position.. I’m surprised the green doesn’t look like a colander! 😂 absolute natural!
Yes! I’d like a video that shows a course before and after a major is set up.
Really enjoyed this video James love something different. What was the winning score on Club Championships?
Enjoyed for sure as always
Do you have access to test the callaway x forged cb? Not many reviews but I’m not sure if it’s a North American club only
Should make us all appreciate the greens staff more! Well done lads👍
Love that…course looks fantastic. 👍
Yes james, very interesting indeed
Thanks James.. that was really interesting...
Hi ,Amazing video honestly! I will start my career as a Greenkeeper soon haha so any main Advice!?
Also I thought you and Laura would like to know that I have lost my "Fore Left" hoodie forever. My wife, Saw it, Liked it, Took it.😀😀😀😀

Appreciate your time Michael thanks mate
Cool video, James!
This is why I hate people not repairing pitch mark's but love the look of them greens 😜
Really interesting 👍
Very interesting
Í do like knowing the stimp just to have an idea how fast the greens are running
Really enjoyed it
Unsung hero's.

A load of work. Nonstop. Every day. For garbage pay.
I'm a former superintendent and I kept the greens around a 12 for daily play and knocked it up to 13 for bigger tournaments.
This is very interesting, I had no idea
Green Keepers ! What would we do without them ???? Play Domino´s lol
Such a tiny roller, the one I use is much larger. The course where I work keeps the greens at a stimp close to 11. I hated it at first, now I would much rather play that than the public courses which are around 8-9.
Thanks to all the greens keepers!
Interesting video content.
Brilliant 🧐
I would, was an assistant superintendent before getting a teaching job
Being a groundsman loved that I think golf might be my next move.
