      There are so many great mods, especially for decoration. I hope we get some base game/DLC decoration options too, though I will say that the Watcher's Bookcase added from Twitch drops is very good, the shelves actually work 😂

    Your channel has inspired me to become a builder on Conan. I’ve put tons of feat points into decorations and masonry and I’ve had a way bigger feeling of accomplishment than crappy sandstone shacks everywhere.
    Been playing Co-Op with one of my friends and we just made a hunter’s lodge and a Viking-styled house. I said, just YESTERDAY, that I’d love to see a decoration guide for Conan.
    Thank you! Amazing channel!

    Flow is important, as you say. But I would add two additional principles: focus and orientation.
    Focus: You want to give your eye places to land and linger, preferably items of importance to your character, but maybe also views of the surroundings. Focus interacts with flow to guide your character through the build. Focus also interacts with lighting to guide which items you want to emphasize with more prominent lighting. Focus also interacts with the next principle: orientation.
    Orientation: Unless you are creating a maze-like structure, you'd like to keep your character oriented so he can easily navigate his way around the build. Often this means maintaining visual contact with a central space, a plaza, courtyard, atrium, dining or entrance hall, etc. only a room or two away. You may want to provide a balcony or gallery overlooking it on an upper floor. It doesn't have to be central, of course. Maybe you want to exploit a spectacular view of a mountain or river, so you orient the rooms to provide plenty of windows and balconies looking out in that direction. The point is to give your character an anchor he can frequently relate his relative location to as he moves about the build.

    This is great and all, and I do try to make my builds look better in any game that lets you. However, I don't have the patience or creativity to make something that's actually nice. Normally I just make a big box with whatever I need in it and that's about it. That's why I need build videos for something that's nice looking, even then I'm really bad at following instructions and sometimes just give up and go back to my box. All the cool buildings are made by my gf.

    Your videos are a life-saver. But in all honesty, without mods, choosing anything but wood or stone structures makes decorating hard. For example I really like Turan but since chairs, tables, beds etc. are mainly made out of wood they feel off to me. Anyway… you’re absolutely right about the flow part and I really need to integrate slopes more.

    • @Eradicati0nn
      @Eradicati0nn  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, a lot of the base game materials aren't that good of a choice. They can be improved through decoration, but Insulated Wood? Reinforced Stone? Stonebrick? All kinda ugly.
      I don't mind having Turanian build with wood, fabrics and hides in the decoration, but I agree that the lack of practical thematic decorations are a pain.
      Hopefully the next few DLC's will offer some really fleshed out and improved building materials, seeing as Flotsam, Stormglass, and Arena were all fairly good, though lacked decoration options

    • @Guts1991
      @Guts1991 3 года назад

      Couldn’t agree more, some new decor in future dlc’s would be nice. My favorite build right now consists of a Viking village made with Stable, Frontier and Insulated Wood parts. It looks great imo and decorations fit the theme perfectly .

      @@Guts1991 Mixing woods like that is generally a pretty nice material palette I find, though the exterior of Frontier can be a bit iffy at times

    • @Guts1991
      @Guts1991 3 года назад

      True, depending on the lighting it the exterior pieces of Frontier often don’t even look like they’re made out of wood. But the interior looks nice and it has the most pimping stairs. Stable walls look best if you ask me.

    I have to say, I still have a lot of troubles even today with making rooms - seems that I'm keeping my habbit of making any building (regardless of type) in style of ancient longhouses (single, large room with "interior balconies"). I'm also trying to stick to rule of no more than three styles combined (with the exception of Aquilonian and Agossean, these two counts as one xD) in order to make a build at least some kind of orderly. Also, while I quite like Reinforced Stone style, I have to say I hate its ceilings - those spikes in each corner looks like a work of some mad masochist and Conan's equivalent of stepping on Lego.
    Thank you very much for this video, I'm always keen on learning new things, and lessons such as yours are much welcomed.

      @@Eradicati0nn I definetely hope so, but so far, the only way I am able to build something more sophisticated is to copy the design of another creator (I have several blueprints of your creations, Bandit's Hideout, Hunter's Cabin and Yamatai Sanctuary were quite popular in my past games) and add some elements of my own (turning Yamatai Sanctuary into desert-culture's outpost by combining Reinforced Stone and Turan pieces, for example. By the Yog, I'm really lucky you don't copyright those builds... or do you? xD), but building something sophisticated completly out of scratch still eludes my grasp

    • @Eradicati0nn
      @Eradicati0nn  3 года назад +1

      @@mausolus8466 I definitely don't copyright my builds 😂 and if I could, I still wouldn't. Sometimes copying other people is the best way to learn, because if you're just following what someone else has done, you're gonna learn things about why certain pieces go in certain places, or how other things work. I'm glad you're finding replicating my builds helpful, the confidence and skill to build more complex stuff on your own will come in time :)

    I want to take a few moments to praise you for always decorating your builds, however humble. I sometimes see RUclipsrs showing off huge builds with room after room of Stormglass or Turanian or whatever with no clue what each room is intended to be used for... completely bare of furnishings. That's pretty boring even if the size of the build is impressive. It's all just empty space devoid of purpose. I do like more ambitious builds, but they have to be decorated at least enough to show the purpose of the various rooms. Yours always satisfy in that regard.

    • @Eradicati0nn
      @Eradicati0nn  3 года назад

      Thanks man, I'm glad to hear you enjoy that! I never even think to skip over decoration really, otherwise the build would just be a boring shell. I do cut corners sometimes, in that if I have multiple rooms of the same purpose I might only decorate one or two to show in the video and save time, but decoration is always a must for me.

    Your builds are amazing, but are the mods you use only for servers or can they used in a single player game. I don't really think there are any mods I can think of relegated solely to single player or servers exclusively, though certain mods like Pippi are designed for server building. I still use Pippi quite heavily on single player though
