Thanks for the support mopar fam 🙏 this was a fun little project but definitely worth all the time im loving the new cab lights feels like a real truck now lol🤣
Ordering a Ram 1500 Classic Express. May I just say on silicones if they smell like vinegar don't use that type that's acid and it will corrode the raw steel you exposed by drilling
I bought the same kit. Lights looked great but the gaskets on mine did not hold up to the sun's UV. Gasket deteriorated in a matter of months and caused leaking. Such a pain in the ass. I ended up just forking out the $170 bucks for the oem mopar kit. Gaskets on this kit are way better quality and so far so good.
Did the kit come with the fuse? And all connectors you needed? Also did it come with enough wire to reach all the way over or did you have to buy any additional stuff
It looks like the in-line fuse is going to end up inaccessible after everything goes back together. I'd be inclined to run it somewhere I can get at it if I need to. Maybe a spare position in the fuse box rather than an in-line.
Curious if you saw any factory sound deadening on the sheet metal on the roof? I'm debating lowering my headliner to apply a dynamat type material to help with sound control. Any observation is appreciated. If they did this from the factory, I'll just leave well enough alone. BTW, high 5 lights you did in this project look good! Already have them in my 3500 but might be worth swapping to the LEDs.
went to tap into my headlight switch and I did not find any brown and orange wires found mostly purple and white wires however there is one orange and white wire. any idea on what to tap into. im sure its the same wire just different colors.
Right ? Brutal video he spends 10 minutes explaining how to take the survivors down but "kinda jumps ahead" and skips all the stuff people actually need to know lol fuck sakes
Good but you not have to run the power to the switch , pasenger side have conector by the hendle that You remuve if you see and to many cable run. After tha perfect.
Is that a resistor on the power wire? If so what size? I got a nice kit that came with a template but there is no resistor on the power wire if that is indeed a resistor
@@FrostbiteRam huh? You tapped into a circuit designed to supply the headlights and running lights. You don’t ever add more lights to a circuit like that without at least knowing how many amps that circuit can handle and what load you will be adding to it. That’s how fires are started. The correct way to do it would be to tap into the headlight circuit like you did but just to trigger a relay circuit for your new lights because a trigger wire does not draw hardly any current at all. Fortunately those led cab marker lights probably do not draw very much current but you should look into it.
@@markmanning6773 it has a factory fuse worse case it will pop the fuse thats it. I've had no issues at all the light are led they hardly use any power.
Why would you do some bullshit wiring like this when dodge literally has the cab light harness for you to to hook up to behind the passenger side a pillar?

Hello. Nice work. How far apart are they?
My 04 already had cab lights wired from factory, passenger pillar, made it easy, no joining into switch
Was it SLT or Larime ?
So did my 08
Those are waayyyy too far back lol!

Good to know I however added silicone around the holes for added protection.
Good vid man got my cab lights here now I’m gonna tackle them tomorrow
💪🔧

Pretty sure nothing there
@@FrostbiteRam great, appreciate the info! Looks like I'll be doing the project!
Great video 👍 Just finished my cap light on my 08 1500 ram truck. Prefect 👍 Thank you
👍🏼 I will have my install this week good idea 8/15/22

Need a test light or ohm meter to know for sure find one with 12v with key on only
I want to do this to my truck how’s it holding up? I just don’t want mine to leak
Working great but I traded for a newer truck now
Good video but exactly how do u connect them to the switch
Right ? Brutal video he spends 10 minutes explaining how to take the survivors down but "kinda jumps ahead" and skips all the stuff people actually need to know lol fuck sakes
QUESTION! Now if I dapped into that power switch. Will the cab lights turn on when I unlock the truck just like the marker lights do
They can just depends on how you wire them in.
I just got my kit bout to install it wish me luck 🙌🏽
Awesome man

No I don't remember it having a resistor.
It is his inline fuse
How have those cab lights worked for you with rain? i want the same ones for my 2nd gen but not sure
Been awesome no problems yet
@@FrostbiteRam what areas do you recommend to put silicone on so they last?
@@poolsharkkkkk around the mounting holes
Does it leak water
No haven't had any issues
Where did you hook the ground wire at. Im puting the same kit in my 2007 2500
I used a self tapping screw and mounted it to the dash bracing behind the side panel on driver side.
Where ??
Nice job but no relay?
Why a relay its wired into the factory wiring so it has a fuse and all.

@@FrostbiteRam unfortunately that is not the worse case. It is the ideal case but all is good.
@@markmanning6773 well if it 🔥 down ill post a video 🤣
Where did the ground wire go to?
I grounded to metal on side of dash behind panel
Looks clean...
Thanks
would these fit on my second gen?
They are universal yes
@@FrostbiteRam awesome just ordered them thanks !
No ! dont use silicone, bad idea, Use Butyl tape. those are cheap aftermarket lights and they will leak. Genos sells proper good lights
Does it come with a template ?
It does not all up to yourself.
If you take the headliner off the holes at already there
I have a 2018 ram 1500, night package, im looking for some smoked cab lights that are good quality and are compatible. anyone?
The oem mopar kits are pretty nice im going to use one on my new 2500 ill have a video up soon on it👍
Nice job well done looks FaCtoRy 👍
Thanks bro
Where did u get the dementions from
Myself lol I just put them where I wanted them.
How long did this take you?
About half a day roughly kept getting side tracked lol
Where did you get your ground from?
Behind the dash cover on the drivers side just ran a self tapper to the metal dash brace.
Yea thats a good way to do it cause those type of lights don't come with a brain to direct plug in.
Liked and subscribed, I want cab lights, 2000 Laramie 2500 Cummins, thanks!
Awesome thanks💪
