the funny thing is you don't even need the truck to repair your house. you can just walk into the material shop pick up something walk home and do the work without having to pay for it. but why would you but metal roofing on your house you have any idea how loud that is during the rain. also you can use the wood glaze to fix the doors. painting is not in yet however.
id already made a million trips before i thought of this aswell lol. i think once the update comes out this week you wont be able to take the materials for free though.
you need to go to the builders merchants and select finish coat from inside the store. that puts skirting on the wall and paints walls a light grey. the store is not named on the map though. if you go towards the guy who sells you food and follow the road round its on your left after the bend.

Take the tractor to the material shop and have the harvester at the house so you can teleport back and forth.
