That's what BBC Pop Up wanted to find out after Benjamin Pratt, a student from Sierra Leone now living in India, told us that many African immigrants are victims of racism and prejudice.
BBC journalists Christian Parkinson and Vikas Pandey joined Benjamin on the streets of Delhi to find out more but ended up in a small village in the western state of Gujarat. There they discovered a surprising and little-known culture alive and well.

Not only Africans, dark skinned Indians especially women face a lot discrimination in the country. Indians are too concerned with skin tone.
Why aren't we taught about this in school? I'm sure most Indians watching this have no idea about any of this
I'm one of the darkest Indians.. There are many Africans who have lighter complextion than me.. Lol. I'm brahmin too...just so u don't stereotype. Hard to understand, India.
India : doesn't show racism
I had the opportunity to live in Nigeria for a while because my dad worked there. African people are some of the sweetest people on Earth. They have their own way of showing love. Never have I ever seen people so down to earth and caring. It isn't fair to generalise this topic but yes I have seen Indians acting weird around them.
It truly is a crying shame that humans are so dumb that we actually dislike each other based on skin tone. Really??? 0_o
Kindly Indians don't hurt my fellows there .Much love from an African lady

I've been living in the west for the past 7 years now, and African-Americans are one of the only communities who have been polite to me always, super helpful, and kind.
