Mine have gotten a bit unruly. I pruned some off in the fall, but need to prune some more soon. I have no problems pruning fruit trees, etc, but for some reason I get a bit skittish pruning my grapes.
This was the most informative on pruning! This year I bought 2 muscadine (1 purple/bronze mix & one bronze), 4 blueberry, 2 grape & a yellow plum. The hubz also asked for a Bradford pear so I’ll plant it “away from the house” since they’re messy and can be problematic lol. I saved this vid for a reference!!! I’ve been watching Ison’s vids but actually like this one better!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼
i remember when i was 18 i tied grape vines with a friend never had done it before so yeah i had a coat on as it was chilly we were there for 10 plus hours doing it and that night my hands and face were burning looked in the mirror and my face was burned and looked at my hands and yeah they were burned too with blisters it was late march cold out but yeah not fun never did it again lol i think i could have been better prepared it i had gloves good luck on the cutting and hope the chicken is ok hugsssss from Ontario Canada
I'm in Seattle, and yesterday I placed my first order for muscadines at ICON'S. I've been living on this planet for more than six decades and I'd never heard of muscadines until yesterday. So I ordered some to see what they're like. I will be growing them in my biggest greenhouse. It looks like your rows are about 8-10 feet apart. Do they have to be that far apart? It seems they could be 4-5 feet apart, yielding twice the harvest from the same plot of land.
8ft so I can cut the grass lol. Not sure how well they will grow up there. Definitely keep me posted. A greenhouse will definitely help. They are a southern grape and love the heat. Good luck
Sorry about your chicken. It never seems good when they separate themselves from the flock like that. Hopefully it's nothing. Great tips on the muscadines. It should be nice to see how that looks in the summer.😀
I would by the Ison variety for jelly. Its self fertile, a heavy producer and delicious its purple. Not to sure on the Bronze. Maybe the Carlos. Check out ison nusery online they have a catalog and a breakdown of what they are all good for
Nice job, my grandfather use to say 3 segments 1 for the father, 1 for the son, 1 for the spirit and keep the splits. Solid advice yrs old looking good bro
Great video. I purchased a big box muscadine vine and it looks like a short (2ft.) bush. Should i prune it down to the main vine to get it to grow up? I plan to run it up a pergola.
Yes. Not sure where your at but wait until February and prune every year. Grapes grow on new growth. We start pruning as soon as we plant to train them where we want them to grow. Good luck and don't worry, cant hardly kill them so don't worry about a heavy prunning
I know why Kim's grapes grew better than yours. She loves her grapes more than you do. Hahaha as if that were possible. Mason sure is proud of his new shovel and I was very happy to see him drive up. He's such a little ray of sunshine. Thx for sharing your know how. Hugs to Y'all
You did a good job explaining , grand son is ready to help !
Oh thanks pal
Man, you have a beautiful place there.
Great video also!
O man thanks alot. I'll be flying our drone over the garden area on tomorrow video

Yea she's doing about the same. We let all the egg layers just grow old and what ever happens so be it
I dream to have a vineyard like that one day!
You will lol you young
@@KinfolkFarmofGeorgia haha
keeping forked spurs divides the sap energy of the spur in half, resulting in reduced vigor & fruit size.
Never seen that and never had a problem

She looked a little better this weekend and i cant wait to see how the vines do
What kind of Muscadines do I need for making Jelly . I really like the Bronze kind better than the black ones but I do like both kinds .

Can you propagate the vines that are pruned off?
Oh yes.

They are spending the night tonight. Gonna try to get in some camera time with him this weekend
Don't you know that a Scuppernong is just one type of Muscadine?
Yep
