Ah yay, two of my absolute favourite RUclips presenters. You two definitely need to collaborate regularly... maybe a dedicated Rebecca and Vicki channel. Whose keen on that???
I have only just discovered All the Stations and I have to say I am addicted to your videos! Fascinating to see your rail journeys across the UK, keep it up!!!
Great double-act! Let's have more Vicki + Rebecca. Winchester is one of my favourite cities. I got married there, in the historic Pilgrims' Hall, in 1970 and my wife and I spent many happy hours and days in and around Winchester, when we were staying with her parents, both of whom are buried in Magdalen Hill Cemetery, which is on a hill overlooking Winchester.
Thank you both so much for your presentation. I am accustomed to you Vicki with your London travels from years back, whilst Rebecca is usually to be found squeezing through disused tunnels. Best wishes to you both, please stay safe, & yes, more please.
Great video guys! We surely now need an official Geoff/Paul collab then Geoff/Rebecca collab then Vicki/Paul collab! All the combinations of All The Stations/Whitewick Abandoned Railways!
My wife and I moved to Winchester from Scotland towards the end of last year. I’m from Hampshire originally so it’s great to be back. This Viaduct Trail looks like a great thing to do when the weather improves! Hope you enjoyed visiting this lovely little city :)
Absolutely wonderful to see both of you ladies together having fun and sharing your knowledge. Please keep it up. From my house ( inside ) to yours thank you so much.
Awesome !!! From Cardiff to Portsmouth we use the by pass all the time ... And always stop at Sutton scottney... I always tell my family about the old railway
"Ah there you are..." Jackpot Vicki I think you have found your own tag line. Made me smile from the first second of this lovely vlog :D I feel merc. with the "Ah there you are..." tag, as we try to keep up with your countrywide explores, is only weeks away :D Thanks for sharing!
I worked in Winchester for 8 years (at the Screen cinema, now Everyman) and had never heard of the Viaduct Way. So thank you Vicki, and Rebecca for showing that. Looks like a great little walk.
Ah the before times featuring such things as, Going out, Riding trains, Meeting pepole, Hugging to say hello! great to watch again - it looks like we are on the way out of this and things are getting better, I look forward to going out again!
Vicki I'm a newcomer to your channel, your vlogs are keeping me going! I hope I will be able to produce content like this one day. You should be on TV with Geoff!
Great video, I spend a lot of time in Winchester when I'm not volunteering on the Mid Hants Railway near by, I live about half an hours journeys from Winchester so go quite regularly and am fascinated by the DNS. Great video again
Splendid video. It's a funny thing; I walked part of the South Downs Way out of Winchester in September and didn't notice reference on the signs to the Viaduct Way. It just goes to show that sometimes unless you're looking for something, you just don't see it.
What perfect timing, I am coming to London next week and on an open day this looks like the perfect day away!!!! It has everything I like, historic buildings, nature walking, lovely.
I wandered through the ruins of Wolvesey Castle when I was in Winchester last June. It was great as there was NO ONE else there the entire time. I guess it is not a major attraction like the Cathedral, Great Hall, and school. One of the things to look for in the cathedral is the medieval floor tiles which still exist.
This is so helpful! I live in the lake District but I've been offered an unconditional for the Uni in Winchester... Obviously it's hard for me to explore myself given the distance so this is so convenient, thank you!
Vicki explores with Rebecca, absolutely brilliant, All the stations with Vicki and Rebecca and Whitewicks abandoned railways with Rebecca and Vicki would have been phenomenal. No disrespect to Paul and Geoff 😃
This has bin a wee while coming but so anticipated. Love the link up, don't over do it but please more in summer. All the best to u all. Who needs boys eh!! (apart from u 2)
I was at school in Winchester in the 1960s (yes, I'm old!), and we used to say that King Alfred would drop his sword in shock if a virgin ever walked underneath him..... he hasn't dropped it yet! The Winchester Chesil railway had only recently closed, and we used to walk past the place where it went under the road in a big cutting; this may or may not have been the old station, but the premises were occupied by a laundry.
Have you tried Chichester? As well as the South Coast line from Brighton to Portsmouth which is still active, there was the line from Chichester to Pulborough via Midhurst and Petworth which was a Beeching victim. There is a wonderful Cathedral with a Roman mosaic in the foundations.
Winchester is lovely!!! I feel proud to call it the city of my birth! Loved your Bristol one last time as I'm living there for uni, but Hampshire is my home!
Also the old railway used to come through my hometown where there is still some old bridges and evidence of where it used to be which I think is pretty cool
Hugely enjoyable! Come back again and do a tour round the College (believed to be the oldest continuously running school in England) and go to the Royal Oak pub, reputedly the oldest pub in England!
I've walked the accessible bits of the Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway (DNS). Winchester Chesil (corruption of Cheesehill) station was where Chesil Street car park is now goo.gl/maps/zG2FVPBUtMysen6u6, in a cutting between the street and St Giles Hill. You can also walk on a section north of Chesil, near where the disused DNS/GWR line crossed the present Southern Railway line at Kings Worthy.
Thanks for a wonderful video and for introducing me to the Whitewick videos. Agree that you should do a series of joint explorations - perhaps to Salisbury as a starter. Always pleased to welcome visitors to Wessex! #proudHampshireHog
You both interact well together I’m subscribed to both channels and I was disappointed I didn’t get the chance to meet you ( Vicky) when you passed through our railway station here in Ireland,
Have happy memories of Winchester, including the cathedral with its grave of St Swithun - perhaps it rained because he knew he wouldn't be mentioned 🌈. The mill at 5:40 used to be the YHA hostel, and you could wash in the millrace (I think?).
On the subject of King Alfred the Great, he was born in Wantage, and there's an abandoned railway there (the Wantage Tramway) and, of course, some abandoned railway stations to match including Wantage Railway Station, Grove Hill Halt, Oxford Lane Halt and the abandoned junction station on the mainline, Wantage Road station. To add to the excitement, it crosses and abandoned canal (the Wilts and Berks). A delightful old Pathe newsreel on the subject. www.wantage.com/the-wantage-tramway/ I'm not sure what's still left, but one to add to the the list...
My girlfriend's father treated me to a detailed history personal tour of Winchester Cathedral when I was 19. At one tomb he pointed out a stone bird that signified that life was fleeting. My son graduated there a couple of years ago. I'm now 67. Where has the time gone? Where has my girlfriend gone? Chilling.
Can you go to King’s Lynn for one episode? There’s some abandoned rail track plus the nearby Wolferton Station which was used by the Royal Family for their Christmas holiday at Sandringham.
Is there anyone who lives in that area that could perhaps tell me..............if you take the train from London to Southampton about halfway through the journey the train line passes what seems to be a very large castle on a hillside. It is on the right hand side of the train if you heading towards Southampton. I would really like to know where it is as I would like to visit. I thought maybe it was Winchester area but looking at where Vicki visited it doesn't seem like it.
@@lollybeany1 Yes that's it!!! Thanks so much. It looks amazing! Like something out of a Disney movie! I am definitely going to visit it! I see they only open again for visits on 1 April but the gardens should also be amazing then. Thanks very much. :)
You and Rebecca should do the explore with a glass of wine,, although the video may not get finished, and show devolve into outtakes,, that would be good too. : D
Loved the video Vicki, a complete pleasure filming with you, thanks for having me along. 😁📽️✅
Vicki, you and Rebecca play so well together! More, please!
Never say that out of context please
That sounds way too wrong
That is just the best ever Vicki Explores and with the lovely Rebecca absolutely superb.

Vicki smiles bring you back every time and with Rebecca just adds more adventures, tell us about the Stanta run.
Definitely more tours of towns, countryside & cities by Vicki & Rebecca please - very relaxing and knowledgeable indeed!
Portchester Castle is just down the line from Winchester. With history stretching back to the 3rd century and roman times it’s well worth a visit!
Fabulous team work ladies more please xxxccc
Enjoyed. Thank you to both.
My wife and I moved to Winchester from Scotland towards the end of last year. I’m from Hampshire originally so it’s great to be back. This Viaduct Trail looks like a great thing to do when the weather improves! Hope you enjoyed visiting this lovely little city :)

Awesome !!! From Cardiff to Portsmouth we use the by pass all the time ... And always stop at Sutton scottney... I always tell my family about the old railway

Great collaboration! That viaduct looks spectacular, love the old semaphore signal still in place!
this channel deserves a million subs. so interesting and professionally done! keep up the great work!!
Hat level 2! I love it when you guys are down my neck of the woods. Nice to see you two doing a video together, nice cross over.
Fun video. Thanks Ladies.

I love this collaboration!

Fantastic video.
Thank you
Excellent stuff, ladies! 😃👍
Vicki you are awesome love this
Thanks for the nice postcard.
More collaborations, please! This was lots of comic interplay in a variety of interesting places, and makes for great viewing!
Excellent...! Always liked Winchester...

A Santa Run is like running with the bulls in Pamplona. You have to stay ahead of the Santas or you get put on the naughty list.
This is real history top drawer👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
Love that expression. “I find myself “
Lovely introduction to a wonderful city. I'll be there myself in a few weeks.
This is so helpful! I live in the lake District but I've been offered an unconditional for the Uni in Winchester... Obviously it's hard for me to explore myself given the distance so this is so convenient, thank you!
Love the history. Thanks!
Brilliant video! Winchester is a lovely city, thank you for showing us around!
Fun, thanks, peace!
Best. Crossover. Ever.
Very good. The ladies work together in a pleasant professional matter.
A must Sub.

Super video, 2,well informed presenters. another one please
Loved it, Can we have more with you two in it please.
A brilliant twofer! You work well together, you should do more like this.
Interesting fun video. You missed visiting the southern tunnel mouth at the site of Chesil station.
This has bin a wee while coming but so anticipated. Love the link up, don't over do it but please more in summer. All the best to u all. Who needs boys eh!! (apart from u 2)
Wonderful video. Thanks for the history lesson. 👍🙂

Great video but when you show a plaque could you possibly keep it on screen long enough for it to be read?
It was great seeing Vicki teaming up with Rebecca, it got me thinking did Geoff and Paul take responsibility for videoing our two delightful hosts
Hugely enjoyable! Come back again and do a tour round the College (believed to be the oldest continuously running school in England) and go to the Royal Oak pub, reputedly the oldest pub in England!
Once again Vicky makes me want to get on a plane and hop the pond.
Winchester is nice, Wolvesey Castle looks cool. Her channel is awesome

I am subbed to both-- what a surprise.
Enjoyable.
Happy New Year Vicki!!!

These two are just TOO GOOD to be television presenters. You get fact and things of interest, and not loads of pointless dramatic waffle.
I love All The Every Disused Station Stations.
A great video by youtubes best 2 lady presenters 😁
You missed out the tunnel portal at the old Chesil station (where the multistory car park exists). This is still used by the council for storage.
Aiming to take the tour this Spring and make a little video of it... 👍
@@pwhitewick Have you got that "little video of it?!! I can't recall seeing it on your page? Or am I blind from looking?!!
How can 16 people not like this? Great fun, thank you :)

Is that how the Santa run works - he is in the front, like a fox.... LOL!
Nice walking route!
More power to your Eldow girls👍👍👍👍👍👍
i enjoy exploring rail trails.
I went to a wedding in the Guildhall about 6 or 7 years ago. Lovely building!
Great video very interesting

Gosh, you got this one out quickly!

Happy New Year Vicki
First time visit to ATS from whitewicks AR channel ,it's great so i'm subbing.
as a child of the 60's:
Winchester Cathedral
You're bringing me down
You stood and you watched as
My baby left town
This was a good video, zany, the lot but really good. You 2 were meant to work together, let's have more 👍👍
I bet it was bit cold in Winchester. But it is such a nice city with lots of history. Nice video.
Can you go to King’s Lynn for one episode? There’s some abandoned rail track plus the nearby Wolferton Station which was used by the Royal Family for their Christmas holiday at Sandringham.
While in Winchester, visit the house where Jane Austen died and visit the Cathedral where she's buried.
Yeah a little disappointed, so little explores more disused railway.

Possibly Arundel Castle? You can definitely see it if you take the southern service from London Victoria to Southampton

Whose idea was it to team up with Rebecca? It worked just as well as I expected!
Nice video as always, but Vicki made a mistake at 3:02 when she called Winchester a town, it is in fact a city.
