And emulators let you run games in higher resolutions, some of these games looked a bit more outdated on the console especially on those old CRT TVs. but still, insane graphics for those times i agree

Metacritic is actually just an aggregator of other critics (e.g. IGN, Gamespot, etc) - so there's nobody there to give money to. EA giving money to IGN,Gamespot,etc however ... that is a distinct possibility
Having played it recently without nostalgia for it, I just didn't find it all that fun. Is it top 100 of gamecube? Probably, this list is awful (how can they put 3 different football games above smash bros...) but I don't think Lugi's Mansion is a masterpiece or anything.

This is why review aggregators are misleading. Review scores are not an objective metric of quality, they are contextualized by the times, the platform, and the expectations of the game at the time of the release. But games with a higher score aren't necessarily better than games with a lower score, or not on this list at all. And yes, there are way too many sports games, simply because they sell, so they made a lot of them. But most of them suck.
