once i got stuck at a vancouver airport overnight and it was REAL spooky and the only things i had access to were the bathrooms and this little cafe that only sold parfaits

@@eggy0lk333 some places stop serving stuff at night, that place probably doesn't serve coffee that late.
For the record, I'm not sure about the laws and stuff in Canada or what specific province laws are for operating rides, as even here in the US state laws on ride operations are so different, some states are stricter than others. But in the case of a ride having to stop for weather, Everything I know about rides indicate that you MUST get all people off the ride, and cycle the ride through to make sure it's fully operational after the weather subsides. And you NEVER EVER DO THIS WITH PEOPLE ON THE RIDE. Rides operate in rain all the time, even carnival rides. It would have to take a big enough downpour or strong winds (or just lightning in the general area) for rides to shut down. I 100% believe that ride op was messing with you all. Because if the ride stopped mid-cycle they would almost have to empty everyone off the ride, cycle it through a few rounds, and then let people board. Ride safety is no joke.

When you said you had noone there you knew, not even an acquaintance - I was shouting in my head, "YOU HAD THE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS, JILLIAN!!!!" I prepared to become a flight attendant about a year ago and this is LITERALLY their main purpose on board! Making sure that the passengers are safe. They're your friends!! Don't feel like you couldn't talk to them about anything that's going on, they'll love to help you and are well trained to consider people of all backgrounds and personalities 💕

@@creepycrawlie Yes, I do, which is why I wrote this. The person who ended up helping her was a flight attendant (and the kind gentleman who called them for her), the person she needed in that very moment *was a flight attendant*. She had all the flight attendants at her disposal.
For a lot of people, especially during mentally stressful situations like this, it is all too easy to forget that you can always rely on flight attendants to help you. Which is why it is so very important to emphasize this again, for everyone who might see themselves in a similar situation. Don't diminish this.

Sometimes I think I’m overreacting by self diagnosing myself with anxiety but im so empathetic that just hearing THIS STORY MADE ME CRY
This story gave me secondhand anxiety! And also reminded me of when my family was flying from Rome back to New York over the summer and I literally started bawling the moment I saw the tip of Long Island below me bc I was so happy to almost be home
That pic of the empty airport brought back MEMORIES let me tell you! In college I got stuck in O'Hare once a semester. Not great, but it taught me how to haul ass across a huge airport with luggage.

I agree so much on the crying with any feeling, I bursted into tears when you talked about telling that man you weren't okay. For him to even ask is like holy fuck wow emotions, that's nice to hear.
I've heard other horror stories (several years old at this point) about Air Canada, particularly about the staff being suuuuper disorganized and clueless when problems arise, even all the way up to high management. Interesting that this kind of shit seems like it still hasn't been fixed from the inside... Really embarassing being Canadian and having Air Canada be the way they are honestly D:
I have a lot of travel anxiety growing up in a small town and my parents hardly ever let us out of the house. One of the few times I traveled to meet a friend alone, I couldn't figure how to exist the airport.
My flight had arrived 50 mins early, and my friend wasnt there yet, so I was anxiously pacing around, walking past the same people not sure which way to turn.
Being afraid of Most things, specifically of walking in a plane, I never used the bathroom, so as soon as we landed and got off, I booked it to the potty.
By the time I got out, the flow of other passengers had made it through and I had no one to follow out.
It was truly traumatizing and humiliating in the moment, my God but since then I've been more adament about just asking for help. Can't be any worse that nearly freaking out in front of hundreds of get lagged strangers.
Cannot stress this enough: ask for help. One out of 100 people are going to be somewhat useful and not many people are out to get you (take that anxiety)

One time I was stuck at the Maryland airport for 12 hours after just finding out my bunny had passed away. Thankfully I wasn’t alone but boy, it was nuts 😂😭

Oof this is a big mood for me, I was flying from Toronto to NYC a year ago for a TAZ live show and my flight got cancelled while I was sitting on it (Jenelle Monáe was also on that flight? It was a weird experience) and I got lost in the airport trying to find the desk to rebook and by the time I got there the line was two hours long and they were like "call this number" and I called the number and they were like "we can get you on a flight 3 days from now" when my return flight was two days later and I sat in the airport having a panic attack and just openly weeping a lady with a baby came up to me and was like "do you want me to call you mom" and I was like "I would like to stop existing oh god I'm so sorry please don't talk to me"
I missed the TAZ show and took a 12 hours bus to NYC SUP AIRPORT STORIES ARE BAD

i have panic attacks too (resultant of an anxiety disorder) so i feel this storytime so hard. idk, all i can say is that you're not alone in your experiences, i cry a lot too when i feel emotionally overwhelmed (happy, sad, mad, etc--i'll straight tear up no matter what lol), and i hope this doesn't scar you too much and prevent you from traveling in the future xo

Aw Jillian! thanks for sharing this❤ my most public panic attack was before an exam at my culinary school. The teacher was really nice, he took me to another room and brew me a tea. Sadly he told my classmates "She had a mental breakdown" so next class everyone thought i was dying.

Being in an airport when things are shutting down is HORRIFYING. Me and my cosplay class were going to Japan and we got stuck in Helsinki overnight and everyone was so done and we lost 1 and a half day in Japan and the chance to stay in a capsule hotel :')))
