  • Two decades ago, the last Passenger Train reached Portland in the Southwest of Victoria. Now, the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre is rewriting history and operating a three-day special to the oceanside township. Recently acquired Streamliner S307 from Port Augusta and C class leader C501 in VR livery hauled the unique service, which happened to arrive in Portland during the night hours.
The following day, the two units worked local shuttles around the region with Portland to Hamilton and return along with two shuttles from Hamilton to Chrome Loop operated with a mixture of rollingstock.

As an American, I can say that I love the design of Australian Locomotives, they seem really quaint and unique compared to all of the engines that run on our freight trains.

These two are a rare few that have been in operation since the 1950s and 1970s. Many of our newer engines aren't very unique and don't compare to the American stuff I've seen in the Pilbara and on RUclips.
That's why it's always nice to go see some of this stuff when we can.

Both loco’s look in mint condition, it’s as if they have just returned from the paint shop.

S307 basically had with paint work done when SRHC acquired it a couple of months prior! The volunteers do a really great job on making both locomotives look fresh!
