I’ve never heard a better explanation of my feeling toward quartz. I didn’t even realize I felt that way until I heard it. That’s exactly it.
Glad I am not alone! -Z
love ya Z@@Timeandtidewatches
Does the gold tone wear off? Will it tarnish worse than the olain stainless steel?
Own, wear and love the Bulova Lunar Pilot.
Am about to buy the gold tone one. It is a beautiful piece
For a watch paying homage to the 70's the only choice is the gold one. That butterscotch dial looks beautiful. Thank goodness Father's day is right around the corner 🤞
My love is equal for quartz as it is for mechanical. Beautiful watch all around.
DEAR LORD!! THAT YELLOW ITS GORGEOUS.
Would go gold here, really hoping for a resurgence of gold plating in general!
The Burgandy is Stunning! Which I am picking up! To me it’s as smooth as a grand Seiko, which also uses a quartz regulated movement in their spring drive. The Bulova is a awesome looking timepiece ❤️👍😃
Loved my old Bulova so regret swapping it for another watch , dont normally like gold watches but that gold one with that dial looks fantastic
For the price that sweep is incredibly smooth. It’s a great fit.
I've got the movement in the lunar pilot. But to see the second hand moving all the time, it really showcases the movement. With the pilot you have to run the chrono.
For me, this movement is up there with a spring drive.
And as much as I like my autos, I daily a Duro, so all hail Quartz
All 3 variations are cool in their own way. The gold one was the first to catch my eye but I like the red one too.
I like the sweeping second hand. One issue I have with some quartz watches is the seconds hand not matching up to the markers on the face when it moves. I know that is a nitpicky thing on my part, but it bothers me. This would alleviate that.
Definitely would love to check these out in person.
Love these! I’m leaning towards the UK only black dial version. Although, that butterscotch is awesome.
The quality of your videos is amazing. Great videography! And the watches are cool too:)
thanks so much. We aim high and its great to see that its noticed
The movement is, indeed, much more nicer than the watch itself. Silver one winning the 🏆 here!!!
Limited edition for me. Looks great, but even better with the blue strap. What a incredible quartz movement 👍
Beautiful watch with a sweeping hands and quartz movement so no need for it to died on the next day, what more could i ask for
I like mechanical and quartz watches. Own both.
I lean toward automatic watches, but one of my favorite watches is a solar quartz Promaster from Citizen. To answer your question, the higher end quartz movement on this watch does make a difference for me. I happened to see the gold version of the Jetstar in person, tried it on, and I couldn't believe how good it looks in person. It will be my newest addition to my collection.
I collect quartz and mechanical, and my pick of the video's selection would be the tobacco sunburst with the rally strap. I just bought a mechanical Aerojet open heart model and now I want this! Damn!
Love these new Jet Star / Precisionist movement watches. I wish the second hand on my 43mm Lunar Pilot was as smooth as these are. Even though it's the same 262KHz beat rate, its nowhere near as smooth as these Jet Stars appear on video at least.
I have one of each and love them all❤
no AR coating on the sapphire though. lots of reflective glare.
Yep caved on quartz for this
Going with the red
The way the white second hand contrasts accentuates the sweep
Wish they used the tuning fork logo on the dial
Wish they could make this movement solar charging
I'd love to get one. The dials just aren't to my taste. I'd like to see something a bit more classic, and hopefully a bit smaller, 38mm case
Your gripe with quartz movements is the same reason I don't like them but the second hand on these moves even smoother and a lot of mechanical watches. If I were to get one, it would be the limited edition with the silver dial.
I´ve got get a Bulova...but it has to be the Lunar Pilot. Btw, to cure the "dead beat" disdain, I recommend to just set all watches of the collection by the second and appreciate how the sweeping seconds of the mechanical are in sync with each beat of the quartz ones. To me, it opens my mind on the beauty and utility of both kinds of second hand, treating my snobbery :P
I own over 20 watches, probably around 60% mechanical and 40%quartz. Various styles, various price ranges, etc. Quartz can be interesting! I own various digital watches, a Citizen JP2000 (which is basically a digital dive computer attached to a regular analog watch), regular quartz, a true GMT in quartz, chronographs, etc. Quartz can definitely give us complications at an affordable price and in facts various complications that would be impossible to have with mechanical movements. I also own this Jetstar, the one with the red dial. It makes me wonder why I still buy mechanical watches everytime I wear it. Why would we be so dumb to buy watches that have a less smooth seconds hand, are way less pratical, are way more expensive, need way more maintenance? But I guess we watch nerds are not driven by logic. And there's always something special about watches that working in purely mechanical ways. BUT the truth is that both technologies are interesting and can coexist.
But how does the movement work? How do they get the smooth sweep? With a 3hz mechanical, you have a pallet fork which stops 6x per second.
Does it feel big on the wrist as I have small wrist and don't like it wen it's to clunky ,? I get away with 38 mil but unsure wat a 40 would look like
Crazy crazy good especially for the price
I don’t mind dead second beats on practical watches. Gshock pro trek and such. But for this segment, the smooth sweep is just amazing. GS vibes but at a more justifiable price point.
Nice review and a great watch imo. Especially the gold/mustard with leather strap 🔥 btw what’s the item in leather pouch next to watches in the intro?
Really like the look of the limited edition version of these but why only 50m not 100mwater resistance?
50m is totally adequate for surface swimming, but I agree 100m would have been even better! -Z
Beautiful watch but why is it so thick? It would have been so much better if it was 10mm or less.
Its the movement more than anything that attracted me to this one. I have on order a more limited edition which is a collaboration with Complecto.
Love Jason and Complecto, a great LE as well! -Z
Please share your thoughts about the Completco Special Edition. Curious on your view of how the watch face colors look in-person. The photos make the face seem to look like be light green silvery white blend.
I have a precisionist and an eco-drive.. a few months ago I set them at the same time and let them battle it out. So far the precisionist is about a minute fast and the eco-drive is pretty well spot on. Can't complain about the ability of either one, but I really expected the opposite. My biggest beef is how poorly the lume lasts on the Bulova.. just minutes really...while eco-drive lasts for many hours
Love them all, but red would be my choice if i could only have one.
Bulova should loose the “262khz” from the dial and just leave the symbol on top is my opinion if you want to convert quartz snobs 😬
Less dial text never hurts an offering for sure -Z
yeah I gotta agree with you on this one
The silver is 🔥
I will be getting the gold one
The faster beating hand does take away the sourness of Quartz that most people generally feel. The only thing remains is, you know there's no beating balance wheel and a rotor to wind the spring. I'd gladly have this Quartz as it no longer has that 1s tick
I used to disregard quartz for the same reason, couldn't stand it. Always went for as high BPH as possible automatic movement, untill I came across the bulova and I am now wearing the gold Jet star. I did find it the colour doesn't go with everything so I have to buy another , the horror :P
@2:45 what is that blue strap you put on there? I like it.
ENORMOUS
Have always favoured mechanical over standard quartz with the exception of quartz solar Bluetooth and atomic ones. Citizen and g-shock have fine examples which virtually negate the need for replacement batteries.
However the precisionist movement is in an entirely different league.
I already own the lunar pilot and had no hesitation in getting the silver limited edition Jet Star which is even better in the flesh.
Buy it.
my qualms is the color only feature funkier combo. would love a reserved one.
Limited edition for me, especially with the blue strap
neat review, great job. THX )
Im debating between the yellow gold dial and the blood red dial.
I prefer mechanical, but I disagree with the claim some say that Quartz watches have "no soul". Well, this Bulova has gears and jewels (8) like a mechanical one and... definitely has a beat!
I’ve just ordered the red. I normally only really like self sustaining watches, so auto , wind up, and solar such as g-shocks solar and citizens eco drives. But to be honest I’ve been looking at this watch for a while because of the 16 beat per minute - 262kh tech. Plus I love the watch aesthetic. Red dials are a rarity and I like them but the crimson on this watch is much closer to my favourite colour. It’s funny, I’m protan sighted (red/green colour blind) but I love red or green watche dials more than any other coloured dials. Apart from maybe the blue ceramic dials that change colour depending on the background light. Dials like the yema superman blue auto , or the baltany explorer with the blue ceramic dial and 10 year battery life.
These last two go purple in natural light. Beautiful.
The red/maroon dial version or the butterscotch a close second ..
Does this have a similar smooth sweep to a GS spring drive?
Not quite. More akin to high beat automatic rather than the imperceptible sweep of a spring drive. But for 600 it's an incredible movement.
Darren is on the money 👆🏻
Darren is THE MAN@@Timeandtidewatches
This ticks 16 times a second. A regular 3hz mechanical movement 6 and a 4hz 8. Even a 5hz movement, which is rare to find, ticks 10 times. These things are obviously hard to see with a naked eye, but if you film them in slow motion, even with a phone, you'll see it. You can definitely tell the difference with this Bulova and it is ultra smooth. BUT no, not like a GS. GS doesn't really tick and it is forever gliding. It is a completely unique movement "style".

For me the precisionist movement is perfection. Very low maintenance. I can buy a battery for cheap price and swap it by myself. No need to hire a watchmaker to do the typical automatic watch maintenance.
I'm torn between the red and the gold dial.
If anyone is listening, my dream watch would be the one with solar powered battery, radio controlled with sweeping second hand, titanium dial, back case and band and of course sapphire crystal. 😂😂😂
That ☕ has me 🤤😅
Own the gold tone and wear it one day / wkeek.
I'd go gold
Great movement, but not a fan of the design
Just put that movement in more of the lineup.
Is it not pronounced "BULL-o-va" instead of "bul-O-va" ?
It’s Levi-OH-sa, not Levi-osa
I'd buy it if it weren't for the exterior.
What sort of case would you like to see this movement in?
Bio-ceramic in multi colors. Cause I love saving the planet one case at a time!!!!! @@Timeandtidewatches
Caravelle? It needs to be resurrected.@@Timeandtidewatches

40mm too big.
Very compact lug-to-lug though -Z
You should have a man's wrist and be able to sport a panerai. Not a females wrist 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@spankingb4bedtime350yeah tiny wrist at 6’5 240…. Quieten down buddy you might trip and hurt your face!
I just watched a spate of 70s movies and I think smaller watches are the bee's knees. Maybe a 36mm case with this movement. Or a Grand Seiko homage.
@@filthy-casual Oh we have here a keyboard warrior with girls wrist 🤣🤣. Don't fall off your scooter, you may break those little wrist ..
