That was frustrating me as well. Jones and the offence actually looks somewhat competent when those things are focused on as well, so no idea how Cane gets away from that so frequently.
This team is essentially the 2020 Chicago Bears. Westbrook is Trubisky and Jones is the nick foles who was brought in to replace the young qb if he couldn't produce
Heck, you've even got the fraudulent hot start in there. Something, something, Blake Westbrook for NVP! (inb4 Jacoby Pearman pulls a Cordarrelle Patterson and gets hot-mic'd dropping the f-bomb.)
With a healthy offensive line going into the playoffs, you're going to get absolutely SMOKED if you don't establish the run game early and often. Leaning on Mac Jones to complete these 12 yard crossing routes is simply not realistic game planning long term if it's your only viable option to move the ball down the field. He's a short pass QB who's being asked to do way too much, way too often on these 3rd and 8 or 3rd and 10 plays. On top of that, your pass-rush going quiet these last few games and a zone-heavy defense against speedy receivers means it is only a matter of time before you get burned deep and burned often. Something has to give or your cover schemes are going to start leaving your DBs playing catchup.
I've been watching since the Rams franchise, so I'm not new, but giving up on a QB who's played we when given the time and opportunities. Mac was making the same accuracy mistakes that Westbrook was. But not once was he under consideration for getting benched despite the same mistakes and in some games, worse. Going 5 quarters without a TD is bad in todays game. @PurpleLightning6was9
@@TrainerKatashi You have to realize this is a game, if you’re good enough, you can make just about any QB look good. Cane is limited by his skill level and does what he does in order to generate content and storylines. Are they always great choices or storylines? Not at all. But he’s literally the only Madden player left that puts in any kind of effort to create a narrative.
@@PurpleLightning6was9 and that's fine, but you also have to think about developing the llayers as well. If your goal is to get to the playoffs for this one season, then cool. But understand you're mortgaging a player's future in the series by choosing not to invest into him. My thing is, if you've used EVERY SINGLE OPTION available to help him succeed, then I get the benching, but we're talking about a kid who's never had a stable offensive line and has also had key drops from his better receivers on crucial plays. His accuracy I can't defend, but when the guy you bring in as the "solution" does the same thing with better accuracy ratings, you gotta hit the reset button and go back to Westbrook.
I understood the "We want to win now and Blake's not doing it" rationale at the time, but after so many games worth of Mac crashing down to Earth after the initial honeymoon period… yeah, this. In hindsight, I'm left with a sneaking suspicion we would've been no worse off just riding it out with Westbrook and hoping he got some development throughout the year. My Jurgenson-Kilmer platooning suggestion from last episode still stands! :P (Mind you, I'm also of the belief that the Mayweather cult should kindly shut the hell up already, so what do I know.)
Never forget that Cane drafted Westbrook over Hunter Boone. (Whispers.) Never forget... Actually, their rookie stats were far more similar than you might think. Yes, I am such a Cane nerd I actually wrote them down. *Boone:* 335 completions, 538 attempts, 62% completion percentage, 7.8 yards per attempt, 3904 yards, 30 TDs, 19 INTs, 91.9 passer rating. *Westbrook:* 292 completions, 514 attempts, 56% completion percentage, 7.5 yards per attempt, 3839 yards, 30 TDs, 14 INTs, 84.5 passer rating. The main differences were Boone being more accurate even as a rookie and getting better while Westbrook...did not.
Interior OL is definitely a need, it’s hard to get the running game going and it doesn’t make it any easier when Mac is being pressured on like 80% of plays
Cane is money in the playoffs, so he's going to win next time and maybe the next time after that. I've seen it so many times before. There's something about the postseason that makes him play so much smarter and better all of a sudden when you think his team has no chance.
For me personally, the complaining is in good fun..I treat it like talking about my favorite NFL team with the boys on Monday mornings. It's all on good fun and I Cane no matter what
It's hard to argue that Jones didn't perform better than Westbrook overall for this season, but most of the time it just doesn't feel like it. Hopefully the ground hasn't can do something in the playoffs to help out.
It's ben so long since Cane was in the playoffs I can't blame people for forgetting how money he is in postseason play. You'll be seeing a much different team.
If no body gets injured in the postseason, letting Blake Grupe be the G.O.A.T., get the run game going,Mac Jones does not keep throwing int's,and find a way for Andean Priestley to get fill in Olave's spot and be game six Klay Thompson.
I think this team is in "Go get a Tom Brady for 2 seasons" era. The defense is just getting better, and this offense needs its line improved. Trade off/let go of mac Jones and Westbrook to gain picks and room and just pay the beat veteran.
Anyone asking for Westbrook clearly has forgotten how bad he is. A lot of Jones’ issues come from the user, Westbrook simply cannot throw the ball with any kind of accuracy or consistency.
Not the best season but definitely an improvement. Please please please don’t complicate the pass game and just pass to open wide receivers. We know the run game will be the difference in this playoff return but Kevin Blackwell and Garret Wilson are the ones who can win you this game(I’ll even throw Jacoby Pierman in there) As for on defense im not so sure. Boone looked good against us in our only matchup and their group of WRs and Kenny Walker is terrifying so the fact that this Nick brooks guy led the team in receiving is astonishing. Might have to score 30 in this one to win
You really think there's going to be an election? How cute. Also, better clean all your old masks. You'll be needing them again when the next plandemic breaks out in 2-3 months.
Mac Jones finished the season with a passer rating *14 points higher* than Westbrook's. (Whispers.) 14 points...And it's not a sample size issue either, Jones had more pass attempts. There's no way this team wins more than the usual 6 games with Worstbrook spraying passes all over the field but apparently his fanbois love that sort of thing.
Very biased comment bc Pistol is my favorite offense: I've thought this for a while but i think Cane should change his offense to a more Pistol style similar to his Minnesota dynasty bc you can still have 2 tight ends and power run w/ play action off of it but it'll also give you more time so your QBs don't have to take 7 step drops with a bad O-line and QBs with slow releases
Does Cane just not realize that short routes exist? I have never seen him throw a pass shorter than 10 yards. His entire game plan seems to be a handful of runs and then long passes every other down followed by shock that he got sacked/threw another interception. Not everything has to be a home run. Focus on high percentage plays to keep the chains moving and take the big plays when they're there. You don't actually want to race down the field every time you have the ball. The longer you're on the field the less time the other offense is on the field and the fewer points they can score. Controlling the ball and the clock is key to limiting your opponent's offense. If the opponent is bringing constant pressure stop calling long developing plays and switch to runs/short passes that let you get the ball out fast to punish the extra heat. Going 3-out constantly or throwing multiple picks per game because you kept forcing deep throws under pressure is why you keep getting blown out.
Day 40 of asking cane to finish the madden 18 bears franchise and get them a Super Bowl…. Honestly I planned to stop last time but some guy tried to make me stop like he owned me or sum so I’m just dropping this just because most likely last one tho. 🙏
A rather "meh" end for another "meh" season. Maybe a deep run happens with a weak conference, but feels like there's nothing to look forward to once the season ends again. 😐
Honestly I felt like you wasted a year of Westbrook's development bringing on jones just to barely scrape by into the playoffs. Pick an offensive identity and stick with it. Whichever direction you go on offense, improve the o-line.
There’s more than one way to win games. Is forcing your team to be a passing team worth 12 points (Bucs game)? I imagine if you run the ball 40 times and throw it 10 you can still come up with the same point totals you’re getting without giving up turnovers and field position. I’m always entertained by your series, but stop making every team a passing team (in particular when it’s not working).
Half of this year madden is before the snap. Running drags and slants against zone coverage doesn’t work. Your success rate on that has gotta be so low this year.
