They left out how it drives autonomously 😂 the owner even said don’t worry about it. Seems they have nothing except a car filled with LiDAR sensor. Sensors Tesla says don’t work. This is nothing except the high level concepts of a Robotaxi support system.
Stop saying why does it look like a car, that's becuase it is a car, the fact it drives itself has nothing to do with it, car is defined as a 4 wheeled vehicle for transporting passengers, that's what this is.
Its a nice car but no one have a full autonomus car. Just needed this to say, that means autonomy level 5 and no one had that at this point, so why do you say its fully autonomu?s
Not making larger ones seems like a mistake. having to pay 2 or 3 taxis when you could go with one will get expensive fast. They don't have make a lot of them, just a few per fleet is enough.
This is what I'm waiting for. I don't like dealing with other drivers. No more insurance, maintenance, etc. That would save thousands of dollars each year. I like looking for new ways to cut my expenses down.
The Chinese has autonomous self driving cars on the road. Hope this company release the product as soon as possible before the Chinese copy their designs
Again very limited areas in a few cities and also using expensive LIDAR and have to map the city streets and constantly renew mapping. Tesla will have to make some adjustments for driving in China but once implemented the Tesla FSD cars will be able to drive anywhere on main roads. The same for setting up in Europe. China and Rimac will only be limited to major cities and large freeways connecting them. They won´t work in towns or villages.
I love this design. But the hard part is actually getting a car to drive itself, which, no one has achieved yet. Tesla is nearly there, but that took 6m vehicles worth of driving data , mutli billions and 10 years.
The Teslae are reasonable at it, but having tried full self drive a few times in a friends Model 3 last month, it's not ready for prime time. As a take-over for a long trip on the freeway or interstate - likely. Navigating a busy downtown or dealing with roundabouts, terrifying.
Achieving it is not the only issue. In the US public transportation is only so popular and there are plenty of options already. I just don't see more people using public transportation just because there is no driver. It's still shared with others and it's not waiting for you to make a quick get away when needed. Our use of cars is not just pre planned trips from one location to another. Sometimes we just "go for a drive", we see what's new and stop anytime we see something interesting. There have been many estimates about how much the market is worth and I don't think any of them are close to reality and might even be based on getting 100% of the market with no competition. There is no way to make back the money spent on these things.
@frankcoffey Robotaxis will be on par with public transport costs, but you now also have your own space, no need to wait in long queues for trains/busses etc. You can relax, stretch out, watch a movie/do work etc. That's a huge value add for the consumer
@@louisdude1 I still don't think that's new customers. It's just a slice of the pie of people that will consider public transportation at all. We shall see what that's worth but I think it's going to be a tiny fraction of what has been estimated.
This is the biggest thing since the horse gave way to the car. I'm a Tesla shareholder and I find this super exciting [yes, I know this will be a rival]. Tesla will have to go some with its Robotaxi to be this good. This has been properly thought out. I'm assuming the automotive driving technology will succeed, because given enough time, realistic goals usually are, and FSD isn't pie-in-the-sky, despite what people with little imagination and knowledge might say. Yes, I'll hail one of these around about the time I either buy my next BEV or I keep the cash.
The factory for it is built, the showcase city and the country are fully in it. Its not the car, its not legal restrictions, those things won't run high speed on high ways its the business case behind it. Rimac, will again use this as a show case and make money with the tech behind it.
Bugatti has just as much experience with building cars at large scale as the next startup. Even with big investors backing (Lucid/Nio/etc) them up almost none of them end up mass producing cars.
Any manufacturer that is REALLY SERIOUS😳about manufacturing autonomous vehicles must incorporate ultrasonic sensors🤔(lidar), radar😮and cameras😇. You will NEVER😱ACHIEVE 'Level 5' autonomy with "cameras only"🤯..!
One thing that seems very strange to me is that Tesla (and other small start-ups) were working on "Robo-taxi" - independent unmanned vehicle that would serve as taxi as a form of transportation. Yes, excitement is there, innovation and all that... but stop and think for a moment: WHY? WHY are they going that route, investing ton of money to get that concept into reality... They must know something we do not know - and that is, discontinuance of a today's car/transportation vehicles and into gazillion robo-taxis that would serve you to offer transportation where you want to go... That is where Bugatti apparently knows something as well aligning to the Tesla and other small start-ups... how will their investment pay off? They get this manufactured, and cities subscribe and order thousands of these for their metrolpolitan and suburb residential areas? Bottom line - I like the innovation, but I do not like that progressive modernization that is very coy and very manipulative of "nothing wrong to see here"... You tell me, if I am wrong, I am wrong, but there is no other logical reason they would throw millions into this...
It really is the elephant in the room and quite disappointing that they didn't press the issue. That said, what they are doing here really seems to be asking for Waymo to license their software stack, which might in fact not be a bad bet given how Google (Android, etc) have operated in the past. Conversely, they might be trying to sell the physical cars to Waymo itself, which has seemingly given up on developing its own car in favor of partnerships (Jaguar i-Pace being the current test bed of choice). Rimac really made its name as a supplier to others so the fact that there could be a lot more to this iceberg than we can see makes a lot of sense, especially if they are deep in talks.
The autonomous driving is done by Mobileye. Rimac Technology does, as far as I know, all of their infotainments, applications and software on the Controller Area Network (CAN) level themselves, so it will likely be the case with Verne as well.
@@YourD3estinY Good catch. Another big OEM provider, although I wonder how their full autonomy software will stack up to Waymo. There is a big difference between driver assistance and full autonomy and they seem pretty untested on the latter.
Doesn't sound ready to take on Tesla. Tesla Robotaxi is designed to be significantly cheaper. I wish Rimac all the luck, and I think this will do well in limited markets/volume. But it won't touch Tesla on cost/price, or global scale.
As someone who works in the autonomous car industry. I've been in a total of 3 different driverless cars on public roads. It takes a lot of engineers to write code for these cars.
@@OneManOnFire Not to mention capital, which Rimac being a tiny company doesn't have. Seems like a desperate attempt to get some funding because the company is going under.
@@OneManOnFire Tesla has more and better engineers than Rimac, Tesla has the best AI and autonomous engineers period. The best engineers want to work at Tesla and SpaceX. Rimac has essentially nothing in these fields and you can see that where they have offloaded the whole autonomous part of the project to MobileEye. MobelEye is going to fail at autonomous, they are using the wrong approach. So Rimac has nothing here but a concept on how a RoboTaxi system may work. That is the easy part, trivial even.
Concept of robotaxi is interesting and could have potential in the future, but problem are people who will ride the taxi, they are the one who will deteriorate cars faster and car could got nasty. Therefore i think this type of taxi should be very expensive, because there is less chance that person who can afford it will be some average drunk joe that will puke all over the car and give it some scratches. And starting this in Zagreb is good starting point to prove if I am right or wrong.
If only Rimac had agi software so the car could drive itself ... hmmm, I wonder if there's a company that's spent a decade developing just that and a fleet of millions that provides the data to train it. Long game thinking required.
The car is good but the need for very expensive hardware (Lidar) makes it not scalable and I'm assuming they will need to map the roads for it to drive on so it is ringfenced like Waymo.
i agree. it’s weird rimac would come out with smth like this when elon has been trying to make Teslas drive themselves for a gazillion years and still can’t.

In order to catch up you'll need to build more factories than Tesla and at bare minimum be equally efficient in each factory at producing vehicles and on top of that you'll need the capital and expertise for those factories. After this you'll need approximately $250B in order to build those vehicles and lots of human workers & automation.
After this you'll need to find +6m people willing to buy those vehicles and hope you can sell them at a profit.

I assume you have not seen 100s of crash videos there, what they have is very primitive and limited self driving tehnology.
what about their actuall autonomous tech? that is the key technology here
Ey that interviewer is not the brightest dude under the sun to do this with rimarc smart guys
I love this design.
But the hard part is actually getting a car to drive itself, which, no one has achieved yet. Tesla is nearly there, but that took 6m vehicles worth of driving data , mutli billions and 10 years.
Tesla isn't even close. Waymo is MUCH closer, they seem to still fall victim to occasional edge-cases. FSD is a con, full-stop.
Let’s see the production hell. Prototypes are easy!
The factory for it is built, the showcase city and the country are fully in it. Its not the car, its not legal restrictions, those things won't run high speed on high ways its the business case behind it. Rimac, will again use this as a show case and make money with the tech behind it.

@@JohnSmith-pn2vlinclude tesla in the clown section (like a joke, but not funny)
