I picked one of these up a couple weeks ago. a long time dream amp. first impressions were "wow loud" if you want heavier overdrive. very full and rich tone. I ended up getting a Tone King attenuator (fits right inside), and now I can get those amazing over driven tones at more manageable volumes...I just LOVE the over drive tones. the amp is a little dark even with my tele and strat. so I run my Wampler Ecstasy overdrive pedal out front, just very slight overdrive but crank the treble on it....makes this amp sound so much better with that nice bite......amazing amp....
Dream amp. The older I get the more Fender Guy I become. I love all my weird stuff, I love my Peaveys, I love my Sunn Beta Lead, but nothing sounds like a Fender but a Fender.
I got one of these this winter, and....I'm still trying to understand how it works and completely love it. Everything you do with the ridiculously few knobs shockingly changes things and gives you something new...with each guitar you plug into it. Truly odd and wonderful.
My dream amp.. Got it last year and it completely killed my GAS for any other amps. Fantastic cleans if you mix the volumes without jumping the channels.
I have been lurking this channel for years. I Am impressed with the sound quality. Your reviews helped me choose my new amp and I like that you are talented and friendly. This was a perfect example video. I can tell how that amp sounds. I appreciate you.
I have the same amp but built by Victoria Amps. It’s incredible and probably my most used amp. Turn it up and then control it all from the guitar. It’s a great way to play
Shane, you totally need to try using both volume controls at once with this amp. The channels are interactive (both jumpered and unjumpered). That’s where the magic is with the 5e3 Tweed Deluxe 🙂
Had one of these but sold it and got the tweed deluxe " the edge " model . It has a celestion blue in it plus a few tweeks the edge wanted. The things a monster. Only thing is, the thing is so loud but sweet .
I have one of these, albeit an older version reissue with the Jensen speaker. It is a great sounding amp and works amazingly with an Origin Effects Revivaldrive at low home volume. However, for me it's too loud to get the driven sound at home volumes without an attenuator and too quiet to use in a band without going through a PA. For those reasons, I would not buy one for £2400 GBP. However, I picked mine up at a local auction for £930 and it's definitely worth that.
They’ve choosen a pretty mellow speaker, which is nice. I’ve heard tweed deluxes that were to harsh and fizzy to my taste due to an overly bright Jensen speakers. This one sounds awesome. Maybe they should release a vintage-modified version with an added spring reverb.
Great demo Shane. I have wanted one of these for ages. I ended up with a Suhr Hombre for the extra volume well happy with it. I recently got a used 57pro clone with 15 inch speaker made by Flynn Amps in Glasgow. That's fantastic I just don't see the need for the fender now.
I got a Lucas Miles, Made in Mentone, Melbourne, Fndr Dlx Twd, which is a vintage correct repro. The one you demo has a standby switch, which is handy, originals are even simpler! Fender did one for U2's the Edge which has a different speaker to make it more Pommy. It's the only amp on the planet that makes your guitar sound like it is supposed to sound.
Great amp, I have the EC Tremolux version that hasn’t missed a beat in 10 years ownership. Super loud for 12ish watts and can do sparkling cleans used on full power.
Supposedly, this is the amp that 'wouldn't behave.' Legend has it that Leo Fender intended the Tweed Deluxe to be able to produce clean tones, even when cranked. _nyuk, nyuk, nyuk!_
I think you’re better off with the Princeton. I found this amp too be TOO loud too quick. With humbuckers it would never stay clean. The Princetons on the other hand, the 64 handwired and the 62 Chris Stapleton were amazing and imo more versatile than this 57 deluxe
I have the 65 Princeton Reverb Reissue and the tweed 57 deluxe. Both great amps that are very different. The Princeton is definitely a go to for recording/practice and my favorite pedal platform. The tweed is its own thing with its own mojo that is a great rock sound.
ITS VERY SIMILAR TO THE DELUXE REVERB 12 “ SPEAKER AS WELL , THE PRINCETON REVERB HAD A 10 “ WITH A VOLUME BOOSTER SWITCH , THE TWEED AMPS ARE A BLAST FROM THE PAST 50 ‘S ROCK - N - ROLL !!!
I know you avoid everything to do with slide guitar, but here's a hot tip for that amp: Push the amp a bit and use a Catalinbread Topanga pedal + a Moore Ana Delay = Pretty effing cool shortcut to Ry Cooder's elusive tone.
I would love to see if you can get similar sounds on the Blues Deluxe and compare them. I'm under no illusions that they will sound the same, I'm just interested in hearing the comparison.
If it's true to the 5e3 circuit it's one of Leo's best! A super cool amp to build and mod. I've built a bunch. My favorite next to the 1974x 18 watt Marshall. Solid rock tone with out the sound guy wanting to kill you ;0)
I have that amp. It’s very frustrating - too loud for home, too quiet for a band unless you want compressed break up all the time or mic it up through a PA. The circuit is not the same as original deluxe tweeds where the vol is progressive and sounds way better than the RI. I recently tried a hand-wired ‘64 Princeton Reverb…spectacular amp. I have an original ‘66 and it was indistinguishable. The ‘57 Deluxe Tweed is not there, I tried different speakers, tubes and had an amp tech see if he could alter the circuit to how an original would be which turned out not to be possible.
Thats a surprise.I have a 5e3 I built in a 3 day course in Jan this year and it has an amazing clean in low volume bright channel and so quiet I did find only days ago a blues driver of all things into bright #1 jumped to normal channel a really good loud clean and push it with the guitar and bd-2 volumes to get some dirt really mind blowing I have the weber 12A125 in it its got really good bass. I get what your saying about compressed break up.Maybe try the bd-2.Sounds like the circuit in the ri is questionable might try one out of interest good luck cheers
As always sounds amazing But this time you missed the big deal, the whole point of the amplifier is that with the help of the volume of the second channel, you change the nature of the sound and the amount of gain so that you can achieve many different and amazing tones with it. In addition, you can jump the two channels and get more types of tones. Also, the tone knob is not only a tone but also adds gain which gives more versatility. In short, this amazing amplifier deserves one more demo in my opinion ;)
You really don’t need an effects loop unless you’re using heavier preamp distortion. Fenders at the edge of breakup don’t need a loop at all. People need to stop repeating the wrong info they learned on social media.
@@darrenfoxwell7831 yes you may, but you would be in error. I would more accurately call a Twin's breakup as 'rumble' rather than 'gain'. Were I to run a sine of its clipping point, that's what I'd call it. YMMV. But what do I know? I've only been playing for 50+ years and have owned dozens of amps. Like I said, it's a great little amp, there's a lot to like, but its price-point has me squirming. For that money, I'd want more flexibility, those things that are missing as noted.
Always found these a bit dark & flubby! Adding the pedal cleaned up a lot of the low end flub! The fact that this was louder than the Princeton probably comes down TO speaker efficiency! It has a LOUDER speaker than the Princeton! Good demo dude! \m/
@Rinky Actually Fender does use cheap parts and cheap construction techniques in many of their amps which is part of the reason this amp costs a bunch more money. An original Tweed Deluxe will cost you about $10,000 so this reissue at a quarter of the price could be seen as bargain in comparison or like many people you can simply ride the angry train not understanding why amps that are built with old school methods in the USA cost what they do.
I have to say, the sound where bass strings modulate high strings with absolutely awful sounding distortion, is not at all to my liking. I’ve heard lots of lesser amps with this exact lack of ‘grace’. Honestly terrible breakup.

You do I don't 😂 I like to switch amps I'm using on the fly, I have 19 pedals on my board all active and 9 different amps.

Is it possible to bridge channels with patch cable, like old Marshals, and use both volumes at the same time ?
This is what I was wondering, too.
Yes. In fact Marshall copied this Fender design.. Bassman more precisely
