What's that, again? Hard for any player to win a point against him? Really? Isn't it a bit odd, then, that Federer beat him in 6 of the last 7 matches they played, with Nadal's only win coming on his beloved clay at Roland Garros?
People like to say Nadal was only great for his athleticism and “fighting spirit,” but he’s every bit as capable of magic as Federer. Look at this point: Federer kept the ball on Nadal’s backhand side repeatedly with cross court forehands. Nadal buried the backhand deep and cross court to push Federer back, then hit a very good drop shot. Federer got there and hit a great lob, but Nadal managed to hit a backhand smash that probably no other player in tennis could hit as well as he did here. He won this point with his skills and brains, not power or athleticism.
This was in 2013 Cincinnati. Roger has been a 7 times champion in Cincinnati.. meanwhile Rafa won the entire US Open series in 2013. 4000 out of 4000 points. The first player to do so since Roddick (2003). Roger & Novak claimed to be better hard court specialists never won the Rogers Cup, Cincinnati & US Open in the same year. A clay court specialist did that. Speaks volumes. I don't care about stats. I know who my GOAT is.
when fed met nad, he’d almost always lose (in grand slam), but it was losing against joko after having 2 championship points SERVING!!! on a favourite grass on wimbledon (winbleedon) that broke the fed’s back
One thing I love about nadal is his precision on the backhand to cover up lack of power. This way he can still make his opponent uncomfortable anywhere on the court without a ton of pace he can’t control.
He has a pretty powerful backhand, he just chooses to spin it with precision often to set up forehands. But in recent years, or in the past when he felt really confident at times, Nadal would unload huge cross court backhands pretty often or go down the line. He could flatten it out and get triple digits mph off that wing
Oh Nadal 🙆👌 would never forget the first time seeing Nadal beat Federer.. there were mixed reactions.. sadness of seeing our classy sweetheart lose and accepting a mighty rise of another breed.!

I really do miss watching these two legends of tennis playing anymore. There are some incredible players today (Djokovic, Alcaraz to name two) but the shotmaking skills of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal sets them apart from most tennis players in, arguably, any era.

@@dzonibravo7867 It's a matter of opinion regarding shotmaking skills and I did, if you had read the comment carefully, say arguably (meaning it's a matter of opinion).
