Everyone’s favourite Guard, such a gentleman indeed. He could sense the young boy was nervous so he made a wonderful gesture & the mum was thankful for that.
I didn’t notice her saying thank you. I thought what the guard did was very kind, so I was disappointed when she just turned around and walked off without acknowledging him. So I’ll say thank you to all the guards for the incredible work they do ❤😊❤….

She was polite in keeping her and her sons distance. Her son did look a bit nervous of the guard and he responded to the little boy by moving nearer to him for a photo he will no doubt cherish. She thanked him which she was the only person in the video that did. Some people were rude, standing too close or pushing their kids by his side.
Those poor soldiers people have such little respect and basic manners.His gesture towards the small boy was truly heartwarming,courage with compassion.
I was saddened to hear that this young man, Peter Ellis was no longer a Kings Guard. He was truly an asset to his previous employer. He was well known for his kindness and patience with the public, especially children, those with disabilities and the beautiful horses. What a remarkable young man. Wishing him well in all his future endeavours.
This guard has also visited on a day while out of uniform and he absentmindedly petted a dog and also recognized and went over to chat with one of the people that video the guards most days. The guard seems to show kindness both in and out of uniform.

My Dad also - I too am an "Army BRAT".👍🏻😊 I'll forever be proud of Dad 🙏🏻 He served for 25+ years - initially with The Royal Horseguards, The Blues. As I'm sure you know, in 1969 they merged with The Royal Dragoons, known as The Royals, to become "The Blues & Royals". In those days they had min height requirements to join, with most of the men being very tall - Dad was 6'5". It is said that the Blues & Royals are the most handsome of the Household Cavalry - hence they wear their helmet straps below the chin to enable everyone to see their gorgeous faces! 😁...😉 (Of course I concur! 😊) It would appear that our fathers served at the same time - they may have even known each other. I'm sure you have many happy memories, as do I. 🥰💖

In a recent interview he said he got in trouble for the same gesture for another kid and was given 4 hours extra work duty......seems harsh to me. He is a great guy and loves kids and horses from what I've seen of these clips. Wish you all the best from Texas former Trooper Ellis.

As an American, I am very impressed by the King's Guard. The citizens of the UK should be very proud of the sacrifices these young men and women make serving King and Country.
This is my favourite guard. He is the very embodiment of the words "Courage, Discipline, Respect for Others, Integrity, Loyalty and Selfless Commitment, because these are much more than words on a page, they are what the British Army stands for, and what sets them apart from society." ....these words make the British Army the greatest in the world.
@aryastark1896, I watched my cousin return from Viet Nam and immediately applied and was accepted as a tomb guard. These young men and women and their British counterparts are the cream of the crop with a thankless job.
This was so sweet. He parents must be so proud. I know that I would be. It brought a few tears to my eyes. Thank you to all of the King’s Guards. Hopefully one day I can go to England.

49 year old Southern Yank here. These young soldiers are the epitome of professionalism, pride and honor. They represent and hold close and dear all those before them that have defended their nation. That cannot be understated. To be and do that…and also take just one small moment for the sake of a child, is another step of true honor . Except they don't realize that the Sentinels have loaded magazines in their weapon and they will use them if necessary. It's a place of honor by damn. Something really special about this man... I just find him really lovely. Thats not to say the other guards are not because they are incredibly tolerant under challenging circumstances but this guard just seems to get it.

At least she had the grace to thank him for his act of kindness. So many don't realize these soldiers are on duty and must be vigilant the entire time, to take time to acknowledge civilians is a big deal.

This guard's name is Pete, his commander introduced him to me. He is not more then 20 years of age, very humble and kind. For such a young man, he's a very old soul and an empathic, warm human being. An asset to the King's Guard and humanity overall, Well Done Pete ! xxx
He is the kindest of the kings guards, he kisses the horses, is very nice to the handicapped, likes kids who are respectful. He is wonderful to handicapped children. He is truly a credit to his regime and his country. Wish they told us his name. If only the public would at least have the manners to say Thank you to them.

At least she had the grace to thank him for his act of kindness. So many don't realize these soldiers are on duty and must be vigilant the entire time, to take time to acknowledge civilians is a big deal.

This guard's name is Pete, his commander introduced him to me. He is not more then 20 years of age, very humble and kind. For such a young man, he's a very old soul and an empathic, warm human being. An asset to the King's Guard and humanity overall, Well Done Pete ! xxx

This guard has always stood out for me. His manner is absolutely amazing as well as his compassion.

He is the kindest of the kings guards, he kisses the horses, is very nice to the handicapped, likes kids who are respectful. He is wonderful to handicapped children. He is truly a credit to his regime and his country. Wish they told us his name. If only the public would at least have the manners to say Thank you to them.

He's always so patient and nice. He walks slow enough for anyone to get out of his way. His parents did a good job. I'm sure they are very proud of their son.
