Good one Gavin ! I’ve worked out most things…after getting frustrated at the keyboard, but this tutorial is the most comprehensive I’ve seen :) I need to double check my configuration, many thanks !
Thank you, Gavin. I agree that the Hardware Settings is absolutely horrendous. 2020 was a lot easier to configure each Axis by moving each lever. 2024 wants us to identify each Axis, then blindly configure them. Not all of us know the effects of setting the Neutral, Dead Zone and Extremity (??) Dead Zone.
a little unrelated but im having trouble with the reverse thrust not working on any of the aircraft. even in the EFB throttle settings on the ini airbus doest work, even when i set reverse thrust on same axis
The REVERSE Thrust. When you move throttle levers to the reverse thrust region, the buttons 12 (left) and 16 (right) are activated. Therefore you must bind them to "HOLD THROTTLE REVERSE THRUST". Reversers do activate (the levers on-screen move into reverse-thrust position). However, it starts with the max reverse thrust and decreases when you turn the lever to 0. This part of the axis should be inverted. UPDATE: You must set THROTTLE 1 DECREASE to LAXISX+ and to correspondingly LAXISY+ for the second engine. The reversers DO work. However, there is another issue - 80% thrust is set at the first detend and does not go up farther when moving the lever up (tests on the ground). And minimal thrust is 20% aka idle. I don't know if this is normal or how this corresponds to the actual planes.
For those of us without a physical FCU, the mouse interaction with the push-pull knobs was all a bit random - RMB for 'push' (managed SPD etc), no button for 'pull' (Open SPD etc). This can be corrected in settings/controls/mouse/cockpit/cockpit interactions/secondaryAction and PrimaryAction. Fiddly but do-able.
Oof, i bought this version for Xbox by accident, or not really though! I forgot that it said Xbox edition on the box, so i asked the man at the pay desk which one was compatible with the Xbox Series X! And he gave me this one! Now im going to return it and i have ordered the Airbus TCA X edition! And it’s even better though! I get flaps, speedbrakes, gear, Parkingbrakes etc!
Gavin, another awesome video; thanks. Without a doubt - the key bindings in 2024 are the worst of any sim. I installed 2024 last Sunday and I'm still binding keyboard, mouse and controller bindings. It's horrible but hey - the sim has not crashed on me yet so that's a positive.
I have a Xbox X and I am lost with this particular setup concerning the Thrustmaster Sidestick in FS2024. First, there seem to be different names: What you call “Joystick Laxis X“ for ailerons, mine says „Joystick Axis 1“ and this is where trouble begins. When I want to assign a button manually, I dont know where, for example, „Button 1“ on the Xbox edition of the Sidestick is located. The PDF on the Thrustmaster homepage is quite confusing and doesnt help…😢
Thank you SO much. I thought I was the only one that noticed the labelling of buttons (which MSFS 2020 DID have). However, my reverse thrust is not set up by default.
I use the 0 to 100% and it works on the inBuild and Fly-By-Wire airbus. Even the thrust reverse works without using the virtual buttons on the TCA. The problem I'm having is it doesn't work right on all the other aircraft no matter if I use the 0 -100 or just the "Throttle Axis" setting.
Maybe worth to add that if you are calibrating thrusts you should start from one edge side to another, if you start calibrating from "neutral" position, reverse trusts will not work even if it is looking good on table calibration screen...
What are your assigned Joystick Buttons for gear up and down? I have used the FS2020 mapping manually assigned in FS2024 (Down -> Button 31), but it doesnt work 🤪
dear sir, thanks foor your clear explanation. everything seams to work as it used to, but! the reverse thrust won't work in the "easysimpilot" profile. can you please help. I installed the software for the thrustmaster captain's pack. when start joy.cpl it all seems to work well. on the iPad in the cockpit it looks like it's working well too, but on the pedestal the reverse thrust does not work. so what to do???
Great video thank you so much, however I am struggling to configurate my throttle with the other planes that have reverse too like the pilatus or the TBM does anyone have an idea how to do it ? Thanks in advance 😁
Wondering if you can help. Following the instructions for the throttle settings and running into a few issues. 1) I need to invert the settings to have them go in the correct direction. Curious why this is different? the 2nd is around the reverse thrusters. Those aren't working for either engine. I updated the drivers to the latest and same results. A strange thing, for both Throttle 1 and 2, if I assign them by moving the lever, it shows a button not an axis like you see. If I go delete it, then click on the tabe to have the check mark, it assigns it to Joystick LAXIS X and Y. Ideas?
Great video. I'm wodering, when you say in comments the default sensivity settings is fine, which one do you mean, the default Fenix recommendation that they have in their blog for msfs 2020 or do you mean the MSFS 2024 defaults (which is all zero if i'm not mistaking)?
I have a question i got the tca captain pack and when i work the flaps it goes from 0 to full no matter what position it is in all upto date and programed to sim
I have trouble moving inside the cockpit using the right mouse button. Everytime I want to focus on an area, as soon I release the button the view of the camera goes back to default. Please help. thanks
actually, you can bind axes by "search for input" and moving the relevant axis, but you need to have turned off "show virtual buttons" in windows->control panel->HID TCA Throttle Quadrant->Properties->Settings, otherwise most of the axes return a not particularly helpful button number instead.
This is pretty straightforward, download the driver from the website and then install. There is a video on the channel too for the setup and installation 👍
I'm having issues with the thrust reversals on the captains pack. I switched the throttle axis but it doesn't go into reverse even with changing the toggle/hold reverse thrust. An tips of fixes for this issue?
i had the same issue and here's how I fixed it (you just have to calibrate your throttle): 1. go to the iPad on your left and press options and find the throttle settings 2. set the "reverse on axis" to "No", then back to "Yes" 3. calibrate your throttle and the reverse thrust should work, hope it helps! 🙂
In your Windows search option, search for "Set up USB Game Controllers" Highlight TCA Q-Eng 1&2, then properties, uncheck "Enable virtual buttons", then the control settings recognise the Axis when searching by input to save you having to keeping "turning them on"
Great setup video and setup was perfect. A question I have is about setting up the A320 Pilot controller for brakes on a taildragger, I have the brakes setup on a switch and when stopping my plane it nose dives soon as I hit the button at any speed. Is there a way to set the sensitivity on that button? or another setup to stop a Taildragger thanks for any help
@@Easyjetsimpilot Yes, it is animated, but you have to correct it like this (this example is for the A330): - Find the installation path of your simulator - Steam: %APPDATA%\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\WASM\MSFS2024\microsoft-aircraft-a330\work -MS Store: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\WASM\MSFS2024\microsoft-aircraft-a330\work - Open the "ThrottleData" file with the text editor (notepad) - In the [Throttle] section Edit the line: reverse_on_axis = false -----> delete "false" and put "true" The line would look like this: [Throttle] reverse_on_axis = true - Save changes. If you are in the simulator, close it and restart it. The next time you start the A330, you will see the reverse levers moving when you activate it in your Throttle TCA. This works for all other Airbus in the simulator, you just have to change that parameter in each corresponding aircraft.
I don’t know if anyone else is having the same issue but my landing gear doesn’t seem to work well. Done search by input and have “gear up” and “gear down” for ‘button 21’ just like Gavin has in the video. However, once I flip the landing gear lever up, it starts flipping out…? Does anyone have an idea of what I can try next? I haven’t got airborne yet, just testing on ground but I really doubt it should be flipping out like it currently is. Thanks in advance!
Thank you very much for this video. It did clarify a great deal for me. The only thing I am struggling with now, is that when the FBW A380 was released, I bought a second throttle quadrant, to have 4 independent throttle levers. I have switched it to engine 3 and 4. But neither the FS2020, nor the 2024 does recognize the quadrant?? The picture that usually shows the hardware that’s connected, is greyed out, with a question mark on it. I guess I have to contact Thrustmaster support, and ask them. If not anyone in here has had the same problem, and solved it?? 😊
They made it so complex that I already regret to have bought it! 2020 works 100% and there is no reason to jump to 2024 and waste time and effort on something that isn't ready yet! Maybe in one year when they manage to solve all the bullshit they created. The simplest solution would be to give us a chance to insert our 2020 settings directly into 2024! It can't be so difficult!
I did show all my axis for thrust, eng 1, eng 2, flaps, spoilers, aileron, elevator, rudder, brakes, nose wheel steering etc. All buttons are default other than those I changed, which I showed.
When I wish to map the 3rd 4th engine on the A400 i get joystick button 11 / 14 respectively i have no ability to add LAXIS X / Y and ideas would be great...
Thank you Gavin, that was so, so useful. I have just returned to MSFS after many years away and I have found setting the controls to be a nightmare. Can you recommend a good option for elevator trim? I have tried using the throttle slider on the joystick but it is so sensitive and fine adjustment is impossible. I am a retired glider pilot with over 500 hours flying gliders and fully understand the importance of trimming a aircraft.
Hello dear flight simulator users! Maybe someone can help me, I'm getting desperate with the Thrustmaster Quadrant. 1. The spoilers work (also in the cockpit and on the ground), but in the air they do not extend. 2. I have set the thrust exactly as described, but it always jumps from Idle directly to TOGA, even if I only give 50% thrust. The reverse thrust also only provides half the power. It worked with the MSFS 2020. Thank you very much!
Hi Gavin, thanks so much for this video, i have been struggling with this setup for the TCA sidestick and Throttle quadrant for some time.. i hope i can get this sorted now. but if i need and additional help, i hope you can help. Thanks again, Regards. Roy.
I find the views confusing having to keep hold of the button to maintain the view. Although I've just discovered different views with either hold or toggle, I have buttons to change instrument views, but, I gave to keep hold of the button whilst programming MCDU. can you explain how to keep a view without having to keep a button depressed?
Yes, if you find the view binding you're wanting to change, then press the cog wheel adjacent to it, it brings up the menu (where you can also delete the keybinding) and you can select 'on press, toggle, when pressed etc' to chose how the key binding works with your button chosen.
Now in 2020 I managed to set up airbus pilot joy stick hat switch to look around internally and externally exactly the same as the Xbox controller which was fantastic. However I can seem to get the same result moving smoothly around ,up down left and right with no jerky movements exactly like the Xbox controller can you help me,many thanks for your channel.
My throttle quadrant doesn’t show up as it’s own piece of hardware in the settings. Is this fine? It seems to work with the sim but I only get it appearing as “TCA side stick X co pilot” in my settings - it’s the captains pack
Thank you for this video, this is most helpful. do you have to copy the default profile first before setting up a new profile ? I noticed in yours it reads (my new general profile)
Yes, you can click the cog wheel next to the default and press duplicate or when you delete or assign a new binding when you name your new setup it will create a new profile anyway
Thank you Gavin for all your well explaining Videos. They help. One Question, cause I find it interesting adding views to the Throttle. How do you save the View. On Keyboard its mostly Strg Alt plus Number, but on the Joystick? Thank you for helping out.
That’s so annoying! I just got it and wanted to fly but my idle is 50% and to go idle I go into reverse do you have any sort of idea how long it’ll be to fix?
Thanks for the video Gav, very helpful. I have a question about the mode selector on the throttle quadrant. I have sucessfully mapped CRANK and IGN/Start but I can't get the mapping correct to return the switch to the NORM position, any help would be gratefully appreciated.

@@Easyjetsimpilot Yes, it is animated, but you have to correct it like this (this example is for the A330):

-MS Store: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\WASM\MSFS2024\microsoft-aircraft-a330\work
- Open the "ThrottleData" file with the text editor (notepad)
- In the [Throttle] section
Edit the line: reverse_on_axis = false -----> delete "false" and put "true"
The line would look like this:
[Throttle]
reverse_on_axis = true
- Save changes.
If you are in the simulator, close it and restart it.
The next time you start the A330, you will see the reverse levers moving when you activate it in your Throttle TCA.

Can the Airbus Thrustmaster TCA be used to fly helicopters as well in 2024? Where should I buy MSFS 24? Steam or direct?
Hi on 2020 I right click my mouse and can pan around the cockpit but on 2024 I do the same and it’s uncontrollable? Any advice please . Thanks
That is a bug from MSFS 2020... which has sadly carried over 🙄
Why couldn't MS allow us to import our profiles over from MSFS 2020!!
Can you do one for Boeing
Now in 2020 I managed to set up airbus pilot joy stick hat switch to look around internally and externally exactly the same as the Xbox controller which was fantastic. However I can seem to get the same result moving smoothly around ,up down left and right with no jerky movements exactly like the Xbox controller can you help me,many thanks for your channel.
thanks! can u do also the honecomb's? bravo specially
You just bind what key you want to recall your custom view
@@Easyjetsimpilot Thank You Gavin, but first I have to save the custom View right? At least at MSFS 2020 we had to do that.
@@Easyjetsimpilot got its, thanks
What a Airport is in this video and do you have a scenery ?
Geneva 👍
On XBox it is completely broken and cannot be used at the moment.
That’s so annoying! I just got it and wanted to fly but my idle is 50% and to go idle I go into reverse do you have any sort of idea how long it’ll be to fix?
Is there a recommendation for the inibuilds a330 300 joystick sensitivity?
Any suggestions for Fenix Sidestick sensitivity settings, or is it just the same as MSFS2020 defaults?
Default 👍
Thanks for the video Gav, very helpful. I have a question about the mode selector on the throttle quadrant. I have sucessfully mapped CRANK and IGN/Start but I can't get the mapping correct to return the switch to the NORM position, any help would be gratefully appreciated.
I can't recall what the setting in the sim is. For me this was mapped by default.
There is some info about setting this correctly on the Thrsutmaster website
How do you do it on Xbox
I kept my ly sensitivity for the throttle axis to -0,62 / 0.84 / 0.5 / 0.06 / 0, do you consider that good, it was the one that came by default
Certainly for the Fenix default is good 👍
@Easyjetsimpilot I personally use it for all planes, it works great for me and it's the best for taxiing without overdoing it
A tuto for tca sidestick only? There are many conflicts in the allocation of functions. I'm disappointed
Every time I start my 2024 I have to go through the same torture of figuring the settings and controls and then aircraft not moving afterwards 🤬
...will it be a complete nonsense to set this up, but for a PMDG Boeings instead?
