For those outside of New Zealand, Brynley Stent is a famous comedian. It's so great to see VLDL continuing to pull in such great and well known talent.
EDIT: Brynley is an actor and comedian, well known by those familiar with TVNZ shows created in recent years. She won the 2021 Billy T Award for best breakthrough comedian for her show Soft Carnage.

Ellie stumbles upon a copy of the contract and shows it to the boys. They then devise a scheme to exploit several loopholes to their benefit... and the shame of the management. Then cut to Ben (a lawyer) siding with the employees, but then awarding Rowan recompense for the "inconvenience" and assists him in rewriting the contract pro bono.
How is it legal that they dont get a copy straight up at job start?
technically the Contract only says "pick up" the keys.... doesn't say anything about giving'm back.
Alan really is at fault for not reading his contract after the last incident. Really shows what a low socio-economic peasant he is. I just do not understand how Rowan manages to deal with him on a daily basis. He needs a pay raise.

I bave reason to believe rowan edits the contract without ever giving him the updated papers. Notice he had the stack of papers at the ready dispite that clearly being a in progress pallet of merchandise.

While i know what "terminate" usually means in this context, here it sounds ominous... (Alternatively, I guess they might be fired. Out of a cannon and into the Sun.)

Honestly please don’t ever stop this series. It literally is a bottomless pit of content and sketches. I love how you guess continue to explore new scenarios like every week.
That wasn't how I thought it would go.
I expected something along the lines of the new manager being really nice and bonding with the employees for a short time, only to have Rowan return unexpectedly (saying his trip got cancelled). Then cut to a clip of Rowan and Brinley in the office discussing everything she's discovered about the employees that Rowan can use against them.

Let's be fair here, according to the rules, Alan _does_ have to pick up the replacement manager's keys . . . but _nowhere_ does it say he has to *return* them.
Free keys for Alan! I'd call that a win.
Plus, I don't think that's a company-approved pen, which means he's gone out of his way to supply his _own personal pen_ for company use, thus saving the company money.
I think this calls for a pay *raise* as well as commendation for Alan going above and beyond the call of duty.
Now just to find out what he's won with that set of free keys . . .

I had the exact same thought. I would have 100% picked up the keys and then not given them back. "What's that? Oh these are your keys? Well that's odd. I don't see anywhere that it says that on them. And since I picked them up, and they are in MY hand, on their way to, yep, MY pocket, I'd say that the keys belong to me. But if you REALLY really want them, I suppose I could let you have them once I'm done with them. Ta."
They weren't worried about the pen, Alan destroyed the floor. And replacing a floor is costly...

When you realise that Rowan is actually following playtech manager training. I have a new found respect for Rowans professonalism.
This was really well acted. I especially liked how well Brynley and Rowan did their duo act - I can imagine Alan & co going like oh no another Rowan.
The angry part after the pen fell was not that well acted tbh, but it was decently enough.

I imagine Ellie seeing an email distribution list on Rowan's computer one day and just emailing everyone official notice that she's been promoted to CEO, and everyone just says oh did you get the email? Yeah Ellie was promoted. Yeah Fitzgibs has retired. He didn't even know til the email. How embarrassing for him.
The white shirt's are probably the people who are for multiple stores or regional director's and the person who wears the golden shirt is probably the CEO of Playtech

one lesson everyone lears from VLDL:
ALWAYS read any contract before you sign it, no matter how much they assure you, or tell you (it's impolite to read it all), or make you hurry up etc.... ALWAYS READ THE CONTRACT.
I haven't laughed this hard at a VLDL in a while. She absolutely nailed it. She needs to be a regular!

I am so happy to see Brynley on VLDL! After seeing her on Taskmaster I have nurtured a secret hope she would appear in one of your productions.
She's been here once before. Video is called "Assuming Someone's Pregnant".
It makes me smile. At the same time, it makes me feel frustrated. It kinda reminds me of my previous boss with the similar personality. Even after I quitted my job, it took me several months to recover from it. Made me feel bad, useless and lose my will to live.
I was really waiting for Alan to to just look at Ellie and Adam, and say, "But....that was my pen."
This show gave me enough motivation to quit my job in electronics store, because my manager was really a dickhead, also 2 more former colleagues quitet, so guess what, the manager must work triple more then before to make up the work until they find someone new and teach him everything 😂

Nah you’re easily replaceable and wouldn’t be surprised if they already had new hires on standby. This is the fucked up world we live in, if you’re not rich or lucky you’re just another cog in the machine.

They will replace you, yes, but as op stated they would have to be trained to reach the level of the departed employee and with 3 leaving, it would be the manager having to train them most likely. So yes, the manager would have to work more to train/help them until the new hires got up to speed.
Source: I see this same type of thing all the time at my jobs. On leaving my last job they tried hiring 3 different people to replace me who all quit in their first week (I had a friend still worked there so I heard all about it), the manager was having to work my former shifts for 3 weeks before they finally had another store send a transfer in. 3 weeks isn't a lot in the long run, but it's amusing nonetheless.

@@secoTheSonicFan I've never worked anywhere that did mass firings, thankfully. I can't say from other people leaving but I know the manager who was there when I quit was PISSED that I quit. My friend would text me about how upset he was and constantly complained about me leaving cause he had to "train these sorry ass motherfuckers". XD I quit, though, cause back when I got Covid in 2020, the people who you talked to online didn't clear me until several days after the usual 10 days or whatever it was, wasn't my call at all, but when I came back, the very day, he comes up to me while I'm working and goes "You know, I think some people just use that online thing to get out work... not that I'm saying that's what you did." And I said "That sure seems like what you're implying." And he walked off. He got my two weeks the next day.
