  • If you've gone through a traumatic event there is no one right way to cope. It's important to know that trauma looks different for everybody. One of the best ways you can get support is by first acknowledging that something scary happened to you.
Hear from JED Expert Asha Alexander on different types of trauma and tips for coping with emotional trauma and generational trauma, and for recognizing and managing PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). Asha says opening up and finding a safe person or group that will support you and direct you to a professional can help you cope with your traumatic experience and lead you toward a healthy and happy life. Remember that whatever you are feeling is OK. It's important to use your support system - lean on friends and family if you can to talk about what has happened and how you feel.
