@Jon Reacts do Serenity Painted Death, that's my favorite opeth track but Ghost of Perdition is like their most known song so maybe try that one out too!!!!
@Jon Reacts Hey dude great reaction, opeth reactions are my favorite because they're my favorite band haha. Yo, if you wanna do more opeth PLEASE I implore you to check out the tracks coil + heir apparent together. They're from the watershed album and both flow into each other. If you wanna recommendation for another band, if you haven't checked out deafheaven yet, I'd recommend the song glint. Thx dude.
Hi @Jon Reacts, I would highly recommend the next five songs of the amazing Opeth: 1. Deliverence, 2. Heir Apperent 3. Ghost of Perdition 4. Bleak and 5. The Drapery Falls. I really hope you'll pick one of these, but on the other hand, almost every Opeth song is a great pick! Cheers!
You are correct! Tho, all I knew of Opeth before Jinjer was the Damnation album. I listened to a lot of that when Diablo III came out. Haven't listened to any Opeth since ~2014 tho and from what I've heard so far, the Damnation album was somewhat of a deviation from their usual style. The haunting essence of Damnation stayed with me tho which is what I was picking up in the Jinjer stuff.
@@JON.HOUSE24 Yeah, Damnation is a masterpiece. I was introduced to Deliverance/Damnation record around the time their Lamentations live came out and those are still one of my favorite albums, especially Damnation as it's really unique. But I'm a fan of the extreme opposites I suppose, Forest of October of their first record or Folklore from Heritage would be my recommendation. Or, better still, Hessian Peel - that's a work of art :) BTW, nice to see you a gamer:) Have you played Witcher?
@Jon Reacts like I said in the last Opeth video you gotta check out "Earthborn Evolution" by Beyond Creation. You won't be disappointed. Looking forward to more videos man.
The entire Blackwater Park cd is amazing, but the three song run of Bleak, Harvest, and The Drapery Falls is the best 3 song run I know of. It really is a journey, and it's the first three songs of Opeth I heard. I used to hate the growls...now I understand.
One of my favorites. Weird hot take this makes me wanna go watch ghosts caught on camera videos on yt lmao Edit: check out harvest by Opeth when you get the chance one of the most beautifully catching acoustic tracks of all time and perfectly fits the autumn theme we are in currently in.
@jon reacts yeah man you appreciate this I can see that. This track is one of my favourites the other being Baying of the Hounds from the same album, it’s incredible! Check it out you won’t be disappointed.
@ Jon reacts: Whatever choice you make, Opeth is the shit. You can't go wrong. There's black metal influenced work on the early albums aswell as death metal, but it's all with a progressive sauce. Nowadays they make progrock. For me also top notch work, but I have to be honest. For me their early work is their best. Try 'Hessian Peel' (arguably the most subtile and beautiful build-up of all their songs with a nice surprise halfway the song) or 'Heir Apparent' (only growls and musicly probably their most brutal).
I'd love for you to listen and react to both Ihsahn and Leprous. Maybe even Carach Angren, Septicflesh, dip your hand into a not well known and dead band called The Clockwork Deity
There’s a band called Dir en Grey, that you might like. They are Japanese, and are veryyyy good imo. I recommend a live version of ‘vinushka (live version on YT uploaded by ‘kaya’, the one from 2 years ago) Or the music video of Utafumi. Even if you don’t do a reaction here, I recommend checking them out!
Mikael Äkerfeldt for obvious reasons could be considered the gold standard for death metal growls. That he on top of that can produce those angelic clean vocals as well, is just straight up imbalanced! :>
The MOST underrated masterpiece in this album: 'The Baying of the Hounds'
Agreed 100%
The harmonics during the solo of that song are some of the best stuff I've heard
I feel like the most underrated is hours of wealth
This is my number one Opeth song
Opeth is a genre and they do whatever they want.
The switch up at 8:09 is one of my favorite moments of any opeth song
@Jon Reacts Masters Apprentice and Deliverance are FACE MELTING MASTERPIECES
That dual melodic lead in the middle could almost go on forever.
@Jon Reacts do Serenity Painted Death, that's my favorite opeth track but Ghost of Perdition is like their most known song so maybe try that one out too!!!!
@Jon Reacts Try "Deliverance" next by them :)

All great picks! (Like most from them really... 😊)
@Jon Reacts I was under the impression you knew these guys before Jinjer. Now I'm like "we will watch your career with great interest" lol.

Heard that song years ago forgot about how good it was when I reheard it again awhile back🤘🏻
Very cinematic track
i could listen to that end section for hours. it is too fucking catchy
Welcome to Opeth

Got to check out Opeth's live stuff! Another band that's better live than in studio!
Just a smorgasbord of songwriting genius in this song. I hear what you're saying about how Mikael's vocals fit with the instrumentals.
Haha! I love how Americans pronounce "smörgåsbord". Smoargus Board.Gold.
One of my favorites. Weird hot take this makes me wanna go watch ghosts caught on camera videos on yt lmao

@Jon Reacts You should check out "Disease, Injury, Madness" by Between the Buried and Me. My favorite prog band besides Opeth.
Exactly my favourite bands too. Will see Opeth live in 5 days. In March I will see Btbam. I've had lesser days...
@jon reacts yeah man you appreciate this I can see that. This track is one of my favourites the other being Baying of the Hounds from the same album, it’s incredible! Check it out you won’t be disappointed.
Good stuff! Enjoy the ride Jon!
No recommendations from me… just pick any track and it’s gonna be tasty !

Great reaction as per... Windowpane or isolation years by Opeth is must reaction
