    As for the doorman … I put the meter on when he talks to me .. if the punters are right there all good. If they are coming out I’ll reset so they see me turning it on at the window … I ain’t sitting there waiting for them with the meter off !!!

    The Doorman issue is all down to a cabbies sense of fair play.You can either put the meter on once hailed or wait until you see the whites of the customers eyes,which was my way.Personnal choice innit.

    • @ALondonCabbie
      @ALondonCabbie  3 месяца назад

      Thanks for another kind comment. I always waited for customer to be seated before starting the meter but had it at the Kimpton Fitzroy a while back. Doorman hailed me, left me sitting there for well over 10 minutes waiting (while 3 separate customers asked if I was available) I then got cc legalled on a Euston. Since that day, if the doorman wants a cab, the meter goes on when spoken to. For me that’s the point of hire. Any other time, customer can chat at the window or ask “my ….. is coming now” I’ll wait without starting the meter

    Good video mate , just on the point of dropping off on the side door , the driver that was having a scream up ,was within his rights too , he see you drop off on a rank , which technically you’re not meant to do so the next job is his , his mindset might have been that that job was a roader ,you did the right thing mate , the front rank gets abused all the time with drivers dropping on the rank , hanging around, whilst other drivers can’t put on for fear of getting a ticket, therefore drive past , whilst the monkey bastard is now on the rank , I know people will argue that there were no cabs there , but that doesn’t make it right , what you could of done is let him take the first job , then you the next one , you did the right thing and karma payed you back with a job straight away , some of us like to play the game straight with the unwritten gentlemen rules of the trade and there’s plenty who don’t , keep up the good content and be lucky 👍

    • @ALondonCabbie
      @ALondonCabbie  5 месяцев назад +3

      Thanks Jason. Yeah you’re not wrong mate. Customer wanted side door, so I did make a point of not pulling onto the rank to drop off. I couldn’t go past the rank as there was a vehicle blocking me. It was more, that there was definitely 2 jobs, maybe more. Also being Harrods it’s more than likely a Selfridges but yeah, next job 100% was the drivers behind, I would have jumped out the cab and passed the job back either way but I know that there are plenty of chancers in our trade and there was no way the driver behind was to know what I would do. I turned my light off, drove forward, checked no lights were on behind me before putting mine back on and going on the next rank. Thanks for your comment and support. It’s really appreciated 👍

      I do believe he had issues from previous videos but I don’t think it was due to not having their permission. I’m hoping that I shouldn’t need to 🤞 no customers are filmed entering/exiting the taxi, no voices are recorded other than mine. In a public place, you can record anyone, no permission is needed. Once they are on private property or in a Taxi which has been hired then the law is different. Just because I’ve blurred a face, doesn’t mean they were my actual customer 😉
