    This dudes a bit of a genius. He’s able to make pretty complex Melody’s resolve with no knowledge of theory. Good on ya man.

      I love it. Art doesn't need an understanding of the "rules". It's much more impressive to just be able to create without set boundaries and still reach the audience.

    You did great man. Ya broke off a huge chunk a bread here and threw it off the table. Don’t doubt this, and don’t doubt sharing. This is how music was learned forever, it’s how America was made- let the teachers on RUclips do it how they do, they don’t write songs. This is how you learn from a song writer, someone who doesn’t know how they got the song from a lightning rod. I always thought...teachers build engines, song writers race cars. It’s just in this case, you are the engine, so that metaphor is beautifully contradictory and fucked flat on its face. I imagine if Bill burr taught comedy he’d say, “I don’t know, just do it, grab your balls and try to stay honest.” I learned so much from this, more than I ever could from theory in a box. We need to se blues diatonically connected to diminished, diabolically connected to melody. Passing chords and chromatics along the way. The Beatles used to drive two towns away cause they heard someone knew one chord they didn’t know. If you could keep putting shit out like this, honestly, it’s poetry for guitarists. It’s how we used to learn. Thanks CW. Whatever friend suggested you do this, you should listen to them. And if people can’t keep up, they can’t keep up. At least you won’t now have a toilet paper roll’s worth of wrong tabs about your songs. I don’t know what devil you shook hands with, but you tell him for me...it was worth it.

    I used to be a guitar teacher and identify primarily as a musician but I haven't been able to play much music due to an accident I was in a few years ago and it's been absolutely killing me but your music has really been helping me to get back into it ( even if only in a limited capacity ) and I appreciate this lesson tremendously. Seeing that it seems to be actually you answering these comments I felt I needed to reach out and express my gratitude and encouragement to you for making such lovely, heartfelt music and even going out of your way to help us learn it, I couldn't thank you enough, you've got a life-long fan in me.

      I lay across a matress and rest my eyes outside and notice everythings turned a sad shade of grey. I want to hide my sadness and I smile through the pains. An old song creeps up inside of me and my heart grows more weak and I stifle up a cry out as I pray for a night with my man alone in the cold dark ground

    Some of the missing names may be:
    312XXX = E dim, but is really does look like a Gm chord but it's not, it's in fact Em - that's how it's played in the intro.
    X213XX = F dim, but can be played as Fm
    X5656XX = Dm7b5
    XXX233E = C9/E

    • @wannesrombouts2306
      @wannesrombouts2306 6 лет назад +1

      just stumbled on this. 312xxx is actually "just" a C7. that's the only way it makes sense in the context. x213xx I'd say is a Bdim. nevermind, sheer brilliance this song no matter how you name the chords.

    dear CW, i've been seriously considering buying a jazzmaster. practically everyone I know, inc my brother,, has told me stay away, get a tele. Any thoughts on the ins and outs of jazz v tele for example. Cheers for the tutorial .

    • @cwstoneking
      @cwstoneking  6 лет назад +4

      Hi, the Jazzmaster is good and a real solid guitar if you take the time to really set it up well, a telecaster is awesome too, if you don’t need a whammy bar then the Tele is super solid & no fuss, you could put a bigsby on a Tele, (but then youre’re back to having to set it up right). I’ve put them on Gibson’s and rickenbackers also have a couple Gretsch with bigsby and they’re all solid good playing guitars, I always use heavyish strings 13-54 or something like that, that makes a big difference for tuning stability too, Jazzmaster do well with heavy strings to as the beak angle at the bridge can be quite shallow. If you look on the offset guitars forum online they have all the tips for setting up a Jazzmaster well. C.W.
