Nene at Higashiyama Zoo is not feeling well. I will share new information on my channel. At the same time, I am worried about what will happen to Genki in 10 years, since he will be 48 years old. Kintaro couldn't play with Gentaro, but instead he got to play with his keepers.

Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAKK.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

I am so worried about Nene! Now I am worried for Genki as well. It's so hard to think of losing anymore after the loss of dear Winston and Tamidol. It breaks my heart they have to live confined behind bars and with hard cement floors. But being left to the poachers sounds way worse. Bless our gorillas! ❤️🕊❤️

Keeping Genki in good health now will help her in the geriatric years. Continuing to climb will help her muscle strength. And cutting such foods as eggplant and other nightshades will keep her belly happy. Kyoto does an excellent job in feeding the Momotaro family. And I trust the keepers and veterinarians will create a geriatric health plan for Genki when the time comes. It would be wonderful if all of Japan's gorilla keepers convened to share their health care and feeding programs with one another. Knowledge is powerful.
I agree with you. I believe Kyoto will take excellent care of Genki - they came so close to losing her after her Ueno stay. Genki is their treasure!

I've been following Nene's situation with concern. Glad she can be at peace during meals and is getting special food. It's hard being elderly in gorilla society, or human society for that matter.

I already worry about Genki because of her missing digits . Hopefully as she ages they will adjust her feedings and put her food low for her. And of course keep the other gorillas away so she can eat in peace and not lose out on food. I know that the zookeepers are very aware of this situation so hopefully they will plan ahead for her sake I love Genki since I discovered the Momotaro family.
We will know for sure when Kintaro is no longer a child when he finally puts his sweet little ball down! Sad!!! Love to watch him play with zookeeper!

The Kyoto zoo keepers are lovely. They are very kind to Genki and seem to keep a good eye on her. They will give her extra food and treats from the room where the scale is. A little while ago a keeper was giving Genki some food and I think peanuts. It was so cute because Genki picked up something off the ground (some leaves I think) and passed it to the keeper in the hopes of trading it for more peanuts 😂 I just love how kind and thoughtful the Kyoto zookeeper’s are ❤
Thank you very much for the updates on Nene's situation🙏, yesterday I saw how her eye is and it broke my heart. I'm more relieved that she is now in quarantine eating fruit, she wasn't eating properly and you could see that she looked thirsty.

Instead, he comes closer to us and bangs the glasses to get attention. it is his new play.
I love Nene… Shabani is keeping Annie in line.
Hopefully they can set up a geriatric section to keep the older members safe. It hurts me to see Genki get picked on. She's such a quiet, gentle soul. Even Kintaro is rough with her now. Poor Genki.

i really appreciate the information provided on Nene as well as what is happening in the Momotaro family. I wish other families provided more information on the genealogy and possible future plans for their gorilla families. I'm watching many and currently wondering if Tayari and Iriki might be pregnant. If Annie from Shabani family is not a candidate for Gentaro as a mate, who might be the choice? I don't know of many females out there.
If for some reason mating with Gentaro and Annie is not possible, unfortunately there is no other option within Japan. The two girls from the Haoko troupe are related to Momotaro by blood. Their mother Momoko is also Momotaro's mother. So no chance - even if Komomo (the older girl) would fit very well with Gentaro. She is motherly, loving (you saw that when her little sister Sumomo joined the force) and a sweet "girl". Iriki or Tayari could be an option, but they live with their kids with D'jeeco as a family that no one would share. Well, unfortunately we all have to wait and see what the zoo decides about Gentaro. Not the Kyoter Zoo, where Gentaro lives and grew up, but the zoo in Chiba, which is the legal owner of Gentaro and who ultimately decides - but when? Gentaro is my favorite and he's not doing well. He is an adult and has to go his own way. The longer a decision takes, the worse the whole living situation becomes, especially with his dad Momotaro.

I was hopeful there might be a possible movement from another country, but not many post videos for the public. I'm in the U.S. and understand we are likely too far away. But I'm highly interested and hopeful to see more families develop.
@@kelleakat2 Yes, it's a bit complicated with the blood relationship, which is ultimately a shame for Gentaro. He can't stay with his family forever and has to be able to start his own. I don't see him in a bachelor group.

Thanks for the update on Nene. I had to stop watching the videos of the Shabani troop. Looked like Nene suffered an eye injury because around her eye is swollen. I’m glad to hear that she is eating again and getting separated from the troop. I almost wish they would remove her and place her in a separate enclosure for her safety. Based on the videos I did see, she looked like she just wanted to be left alone. Fatou in Germany who is in her 60’s was removed from the troop and now lives in her own enclosure because of her advanced age. I believe she turned 67 this year and she is living her best life quietly alone in her own enclosure.
As for Genki, yes I worry about her well being as she ages. I wonder if they would make adjustments to the enclosures so she doesn’t risk any injuries from falls
And off topic, how about Momotaros health? There was a recent video that he was chasing Gentaro, but he was so winded. I know gorillas are pretty docile but they are also at high risk of cardiovascular disease. So just wondering how much exercise Momo gets. I know he’s a climber but their enclosure is pretty small so not much room to move around.

Thank you for the information about Nene. I am so concerned about her. She has a lot of injuries and I think her children are bullying her. I have seen videos of Annie being relentless in picking on her while she has those injuries and I wonder if this is just part of what the aging females endure in Gorilla Troops?🥺❤️
Probably a lot different than in captivity.
Annie and Nene have a very rocky past. When Annie was reintroduced to the troop as a baby, Nene attacked her.. there's been animosity ever since. Shabani did a good job protecting Annie as a baby, but bad feelings persisted.
They will need to modify the climbing structure to accommodate Genki as she ages. I’m very concerned about Nene as well. I hope nothing happens to her. It would be heartbreaking for Shabani and Kiuomasa especially. But it would be a great loss to the family. I’m sure they are doing everything they can for her.

Nene’s zoo has closed the gorilla viewing for now.
I saw Nene fall on a recent video from a higher place than was good for her onto the concrete below. She didn't seem to be injured, but she sure could have been though. Poor girl is weaker now it seems and can't hold on as easily as she used to be able to do.
Unfortunately following this she did have a significant injury on her face and eye, very glad she is being given separate space as falls and other trips result of fending off Annie

かなり前から日本のゴリラはこのままでは減る一方だと言われています。若いゴリラ達を群れで生活させる為に、海外へ譲るというのなら良いです。しかし、国内のゴリラは研究対象でもあるので、たぶん、そう簡単に海外へ譲ることはまずないでしょう。
モモタロウにしても、ゲンキが繁殖できないとなると、彼は移動させられる可能性も出てきます。モモタロウはまだ若いし、繁殖をいくらでも出来るのでね。
また、ゴリラ舎を作り出す計画はいくつかの動物園でありますが、肝心のゴリラを譲り受ける話は1つもまだ出てきません。
モモちゃんまだまだ若いですもんね。モモちゃんも移動の可能性ありますよね。その前にゲンタロウやキヨマサ 、コモモやモモカ、年頃の子たちのお相手誰一人決まってないんですね😔簡単な話じゃない事はわかりますが、皆んな幸せになってほしいです✨

I saw a few videos and felt very bad for Nene. As we know she’s old (50 I think) she’s also the smallest gorilla in the troop.
Sometimes she will sit away from everyone for hours. Not moving or going to eat. Yesterday she did finally come out of the basement. Shabani came out after her and shoved her so hard out of the way that she fell (also she had a recent bad fall before this). She stayed lying down for a while before limping out of the way. There’s something wrong with her right leg and she was having trouble walking. Later she got picked on by Annie. It reminds me of what poor Genki went through when she was at the other zoo. It’s very sad to see and I worry this is not going to end well for Nene 😢😢

Seems like Kintaro is ignored by his father. Also I sometimes watch the Shabani family and they spin a lot on the ropes fast and they don’t seem to get dizzy.

Genti ist meine Lieblings Gorilla Dame weil Sie auch sehr schlimmer Zeit erlebt aber zu ihren Jungs war Sie immer eine gute Mutter. Momotaro dafür das er nie seinen Vater kennen gelernt hat ist er ein guter Vater und Anführer geworden Gentaro und Kintaro sind meine Lieblings Gorilla Brüder. Man muss immer bedenken Sie leben in Gefangenschaft nicht in Freiheit und uns steht nicht zu über Sie zu urteilen.

東山動物園が何も公表しないのが一番の問題です。
京都市動物園や上野動物園では、何かしら公表されますが、東山動物園はまだ何も公表されていません。
ネネさんに万が一のことがあると、海外のゴリラファンは日本のゴリラから完全に離れるでしょう。
海外、例えばアメリカでは医療チームが人間並みです。ですから、ネネさんがアメリカにいれば安全な治療を受けれます。
それもありアメリカからは相当、批判が届いています。
東山動物園だけの問題ではなく、日本の動物園全体の問題になります。そうなると、海外からゴリラ譲渡は２００％不可能になります。
キヨマサ、リキ、キンタロウ、モモカ、コモモ、スモモのパートナー探しは２００％不可能になります。

Shabani has not been keeping Annie away from Nene,he has done nothing to reprimand Annies attacks or stalking,lets tell the truth shall we.As for poor Genki she still has to put up with a lot yet from 3 males and they will keep picking at her till she is worn down to nothing.
Meus dois amores Kintaro e Genki, eu sempre comentei e fui julgada, mas essa estrutura de ferro é muito arcaica e não tem nada a ver com o habitat dos gorilas, quando chove eu fico preocupada com Genki e Kintaro, porque fica escorregadio, os parafusos ainda não foram tirados, e é um serviço simples e rápido, tem que pensar sim, melhor, planejar o que vai ser feito a partir de agora para mudar e melhorar a vida dos gorilas do Japão, a Europa não quer saber dos gorilas do Japão e a America do Norte também não, então é necessario um bom planejamento, os administradores dos Zoos se reunirem e conversar sobre o que pode ser mudado e melhorado, unir forças, todos estão no mesmo barco precisando de melhorias para os gorilas. Daqui a dez anos eu espero que ainda tenha Gorilas, Orangotangos, Bonobos e Chimpanzés, mas o ser humano com certeza vai estar na terra para o bem ou para o mal. Fico muito triste em ver gorilas doentes, mas não é culpa da Annie Nenê estar doente, isso já era esperado, na sociedade dos leões os mais velhos são expulsos e morrem sozinhos, até na nossa sociedade os costumes, cultura, linguas mudam de um País para outro, sabemos muito pouco sobre a sociedade dos gorilas, estamos aprendendo e temos que aprender a respeitar esses magníficos e muito inteligentes animais. Eu espero que Genki tenha uma vida longa, mas com saúde, sem dor. Meu Kintaro dormiu com um rostinho relaxado e muito lindo, meu sol. Amo muito meu lindo príncipe Kintaro e a linda e doce Genki ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

This is my personal opinion but Genki is 38 years old with missing digits. In advance, the zoo should take into consideration. The budget is limited and it is too late to resolve a problem on her after she gets hurt and moves less.

Shabani troop seems to be all against Nene. Her n Annie scrap and I think Annie never forgot how she treated her when she was small. Gorilla society is amazing
She didn’t attack Annie😅 big misconception, she was was simply protecting her child Kiyomasa from what she thought was an intruder. Nothing more.❤️🙏🏻
NeNe真的很可憐、遇到沙八里這隻神經質銀背、生了兒子還一直被沙八里欺負、然後Annie長大記仇也會欺負NeNe！保育員又不把他們隔離！我真的覺得日本動物園在管理金剛猩猩真的有非常大的問題！

@@Gorilla-Life 我是台灣觀眾、觀看所有日本金剛家族好幾年了！一直覺得日本管理金剛家族真的有很大的問題！上野動物園的雌性年輕金剛也不快點找適合的銀背配對、或是與國外交換配對！台北動物園的Tayari-Iriki都九歲就當媽媽了！日本所有年輕雌性金剛都十幾歲了還找不到對象、真的覺得很奇怪！
