Glad I've got my tickets to see them in Manchester next march, also awaiting the new album, unfortunately delayed by 6 weeks, but wait will be worth it.
All eras of opeth float my boat.
I love Opeth in any form they are at the time... innovative just shear fn awesomeness
Everything they do is awesome and some may not like some of their softer stuff but it's Opeth who cares and just like it....
I'd agree about this being the old sound. The growling is cool, but it's also the music that's back to a style I prefer.
I do get the idea that some bands have, that "if you want our old sound, listen to our old stuff", but it's still nice to hear it back
EXACTLY!! It was never completely about the lack of harsh vocals for me personally. The song structures, guitar tone, and overall feel of the music changed.
Super-proggy song with plenty of off-meter rhythms. I love it. The new drummer is excellent (as expected from Opeth)
Opeth has always had great drummers
§ The growling may be the last thing that ever attracted me to Opeth. It was always the heaviness and complexity combined. This was wonderfully Opeth in the most classic sense.
§ Was there more synth than was typical for classic Opeth? it certainly didn't distract from the excellence.
§ For what it's worth, in American legal documentation at least, § is Section and ¶ is paragraph. I spend far too much time reading state and federal regulations.
I concider myself too weak. I promised myself not to listen to releases from songs from the new album anymore. I failed. Because I wanted to listen to the concept album in its entirety. I freaking failed. I'm disappointed in myself for it. At the same time... it's so cool. Getting a bit schyzo of it 😅
The § discussion is confused; it's widely recognized in (most of?) Europe and it is called paragraf (varies), but, that's NOT = eng. paragraph. It is mostly indicating sections of a law, similar to "article". It may also symbolize law in general. 😊
@@mellertid 😁
