Chiefs have the top minds in football with Big Red and Spags. And they are player coaches both on and off the field. Just incredible. This interview was really great. Fun questions and so much energy.

As a High school freshman in 2010, Mahomes was called up from freshman team to play at safety on varsity for the playoffs. He snatched an interception. Also played baseball and basketball.
If Mahomes can keep up his pace, with this defense, I don’t know how they are going to lose and it’s terrifying

No surprise there he's that good. Kept me interested in just an interview for 25 minutes. So that locker room sure as hell isn't dialing him out when he talks. Helps he sounds incredibly likable as a person. Makes you want to do right by him. Should definitely be on the show more often loved this!
Really appreciate the way the coach talks about Purdy and how complementary he is.
Drue Tranquill is one of the best defensive acquisitions and i hope DT23 stays a Chief somehow

In Spags we trust. I’ve loved him the 2nd he arrived in KC. He turned that defense around from the garbage fire that Bob Sutton ran prior to him.
It took a while to get rid of the Sutton mess. Both the culture and a few players.

I'd bet everything that Spags is going to be promoted to Head Coach from within the organization when Andy Reids retires in a few years. They're committed to building a legacy, and the Chiefs organization will want to minimize the impact of his departure and keep that institutional knowledge from leaving with him.
Spags surely has his eye on a dynasty HC position with Mahomes at his prime... 👀 I'm certain that played into his contract renewal.

I hope so, but Spags is only a year younger than Andy Reid. I don't see him staying much longer after Reid leaves. I hope they're developing some younger coaches right now that they can start plugging in at OC and other key positions so they can move up as these older legends retire. It would be tragic if the second half of Mahomes's career were plagued with poor coaching.

Steve Spanuolo is the best DC of all time, it is sho shocking that he don't have Head Coach in the NFL. Give Steve Spagnuolo his flowers because he deserve it!!!!
Some guys aren't meant for it . People need to start realizing that . How many coordinators go to head coach and fail. Instead he embraces his role and is coming back to keep on winning. People don't realize how much more responsibility comes when you become head coach
I think Bill Bellichick has a good run at that title during his DC days. But Steve is definitely up there.

Any number of coordinators have tried HC and failed, only because it takes a different type of person to be a HC.

That's kind of his game plan in every game. He uses the run game to open up the defense so the QB can pass but we see what happens, the defense sticks it out and then he doesn't know what to do with it 😅
