I suppose it's meant to be poetic, the newest and least experienced of the Royal Knights surpassing the Order's founder, but I just feel cheated by this fight since I need a Jesmon or Craniumon to clear it.
I cheesed it by knocking out his illusion doubles, then going around putting Safety Guard on every single one of my digimon before taking him down to Omni-blade phase. I got a couple turns in here and there with my faster Digimon, switching out my battle party so I would only have one Digimon dying on any given turn. Surprisingly, GranKuwagamon actually survived Omniblade with 200 hp (I had used Character Reversal earlier, so his Virus typing was actually strong to Vaccine). Combined with the Safety Guard he used up 3 Omniblades by himself. Beautiful, tanky bastard. Only lost 3 Digimon total.
Yeah that's one way to do it. I personally showed up with party full of lv.99 data digimon. Thought that sword attack was insta kill but turns our just very high damage output. So when i did it he didn't manage to kill all my digimon, some actually survived the attack.
I couldn't find how to start Challenge 8, did not know you had to talk to him at that point in the game in order to go back and get the case...I just beat the game not completing the only sidequest I cared about DX I WILL HAVE MY PALADIN EVENTUALLY!
Lloyd991P Hm doubtful, considering everyone else recovered fully from it(including all the randoms) it is safe to presume he also got his body back. Alphamon has immense amount of power and was messing with the main character during said cut scene. It seems VERY unlikely he didn't get his main body back, everything points to they did.

if I've completed digimon story cyber sleuth when I go on to new game Plus will I have to great challenge again? cos I've done the this game but I've missed out great challenge 8
No from what I read if you do new game + after beating all the great challenges you don't need to do them again. You only need to redo them if you do just a new game not new game +.
They can unlock earlier than that. Before you head into the final dungeon to face the final boss, if you double back to the Detective Agency you'll activate the quest line before the end of the game. Though the bosses in the Great Challenge missions are far more difficult than the final boss is.
Note that you will have to do the challenges in chronological order as each completion of mission/case unlocks the next and there are 8 in total. Just to give u a heads up

Many of your Digimon will fall, but if you cast safety guard, they'll all in all survive long enough to beat him, at least if you have like 8-11 Digimon. Hope this helps.

+Pablo Gonzalez not of my knowledge no and it is pretty easy to get hackmon and at that stage of the game getting abi up shouldn't really be a pronblem

The best and easiest way is to use either Jesmon and/or Craniamon since they both have damage nullifying skills. The main difference is that Jesmon's skill also counters attacks whilst negating them while Craniamon's only negates but at the same time the skill costs less SP

+Gorail nope the AI is really bad sometimes, in some boss fights one just keep spanning support abilites even when the other bosses are dead, others just keep spanning support abilites for 6 or 7 turns and then use one attack and start again the spanning, the AI really is bad in some moments.

I used Gankoomon, Jesmon, you can do Craniamon too.
I personally used Craniamon and just prayed to the digigods with his Breath of the Gods skill since that nullifies all damage until his next turn.

i havnt used jesmon i used wargreymon lv99 metalgarurumon lv94 and mastemon lv89 and i used move safety guard. very easy

after you beat the game you will unlock great challenge 8

wow terrible AI. The only thing that doesn't look terrible in this game, are the digimon and their attack animations.
obviously someone mustve sucked at final fantasy games cause the Ai is fine
