Her hair looks amazing .. healthier than before the coloring. How lucky to have you do her hair! I would love to have my own hair done by you. That is some of the most amazing hair results I’ve ever seen. Thanks for the video.
I enjoyed this video so much. I am naturally level 3 & 4 brunette and love to alternate between copper reds & burgundy. I never thought about that the cooler color come out darker. Now I get it. I would dye a red copper level 5 copper red over my dark hair with no result. My hair was too dark. Now i sometimes do a shampoo cap the day before. Thanks again for sharing such wealth of knowledge 😊
Hey, after scrolling through various videos of figuring out how to tone my hair yours have been the most helpful. I am naturally between a level 1 to 2. I lightened it to an orange yellowish level 6 or 7 I believe and I need a blue and violet toner to neutralize the orange and yellow according to the color wheel. What level toner do you recommend for me? And thank you again for creating these videos to inform us thank youuu !!!
Hi Wendy, thanks for watching, I’m so thrilled you found them helpful. As mentioned in a few of my videos, if you want the most “neutralisation” of warmth, you need your formula to be on the level you’ve lifted to.
Interesting video. I do everything to get those red orange tines out of my hair lol I have a question though that I've always wondered, why is it two people can both have a level 4 hair and some have a lovely natural ashy brown and I get that orange glow around my head like the ready brek man in the sun, and they don't, why is that? lol Also can you tell me the underlying tone of a level 6 is if wanting to be an ashy colour in the end is it gold or orange? Thanks so much, have s great evening x
Hi Ed, thanks for watching, glad you found the video interesting. Well, that’s our incredible DNA making us all unique… This video will help with underlying pigment/tone - ruclips.net/video/gkbAjNsCx1o/видео.htmlsi=NoKcycvbtDZOszz_ You can also find many charts online - remembering that each person can differ in tone slightly.
Thank you. Question if I may. What I'm not sure about is for myself I've used semi permanent dyes once in while in a nutural brown just to adjust tone. I havent lightened my hair in 10 years or more. If Im at like a level 4 and want to do a red at like a level 7 do I bleach till I get to 7 and then use permanent dye or demi at 10 vol or do I just do a slight bleach wash to get rid of semi dye and do a permanent dye with 30 vol? I can't figure if its better to bleach and then demi or tone to color (am aware of how important bot going to light would with red) or do with permanent dye lift and color together to get there with higher volume. Thank you. ❤
You’re welcome, thanks for watching. If you want a red with a similar tone/reflect to the shade in the video and you have colour in your hair already you most likely have to bleach to get the same result. That is a huge generalised answer as it’s impossible for me to be exact remotely…factors like how many times you’ve done your colour, if it’s overlapped at all, you may even be a little deeper than a level 3.
Hello Craig! Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I have medium brown hair died 5N because I have about 50percent grays at the top of my head. I want to dye it an intense red, not copper, not too bright, but not too dark. I tried 2 types of box dye and it did not take anywhere besides the roots on my test strands. So I did yesterday a bleach bath with 20 vol and Igora bleach and it turned out amazing. I think I am now at a level 6, caramel very slight orange light brown. I want to put de red dye, a 5.62 red violet now, but i am afraid to not go too dark on my ends now. My plan is to apply to roots for 10 min, then the mids for another 10 and the ends for another 10 min. The box dye has also 20 vol developer. Does this plan sound good to you?
Hi there! I’m glad the bleach cleanse did the trick…and GO YOU with a strand test! It’s really hard for me to say without seeing your hair, so many factors and canvases going on. I would suggest doing a strand test with your application idea/times and see. My gut is telling me it might be an idea to have a red demi/or semi to apply over the top of everything (one processed, rinsed, dried) to pull everything together and make sure it’s an even result….thats generally what I would do.
Hi Craig! Love your videos and was wondering if you could give me some advice please.- sorry in advance for the long comment :) I got my hair permanently dyed for the first time 2 months ago but it came out around 2 levels darker than I was hoping for. I wanted a light copper blonde (level 8-9) and got an intense, dark-ish orange (level 6-7). My natural hair is level 6-7 ashy blonde/ light brown. How would you recommend lightening it? I was thinking of either getting it bleached or using a color remover and then trying a lighter perm dye? And should I wait several more months before doing anything to try to minimize damage? Thank you so much in advance!
Hi Caroline, thanks for watching and for your kind words. You could have it bleached all over but how about some highlights (just a few) around the front hairline and any parting to add some brighter pieces and lift it a little? That way you minimise any damage from bleaching it all…it would need to be bleach as it was a permanent colour. If you end up lighter you can tone it all with a demi/semi, you don’t need the “energy” of permanent colour - there’s a video that goes into more detail here on my channel.
When choosing color how do I know which are cool vs warm? Sorry if this is a silly question. I’m trying to learn to color myself as financial situation has changed
Hi Nanette, thanks for watching, no question is every silly on my channel. It’s really a case of trusting what you see - cool colours are generally (and this is very general!) made up of either blue/violet/green and or neutral tones or any mix of those - warm colours are generally orange/yellow/red. This video might be helpful - ruclips.net/video/gkbAjNsCx1o/видео.htmlsi=QRTH_vTygUOelmQ6 And although it is perhaps geared towards hair pro’s a little, the playlist here on my channel “hair colour theory” could be helpful and it isn’t super technical - I always try to think of every one’s level of knowledge when planning out any content.
Hey lovely!🥰 i know this isn't a bleach video, but i just bought schwarzkopf blondme bleach and their 20vol peroxide, and someone said its pretty powerful... I've never used this bleach before, so now im nervous! What ratio should i use for fine hair? I want the bleach to process slowly... Would a 1:3 ratio be best? Next time i will get the 7vol🤣 im also going to use your tips from other bleach videos! i hope you're having a great day!💝
Hi Becky. It’s a hard question to answer without seeing your hair, what level it is, knowing what result you want, etc etc. I would perhaps go lower if you don’t know how powerful a bleach is… Good luck with it. 👨🏻🙏🏻🤍
@@theworldofcraig I think my natural hair is a level 8 or 9, I did just do a strand test and the red and orange came out my hair in less than a minute and is now a peachy colour, so I think 20 volume is way to powerful🙃 thank you so much for replying back to me!🥰 Edit: I want to bleach my roots and get orange and red out my hair, I've just ordered 7vol because I don't want to risk melting my hair off🤣

So if someone has a level 6 cooler red like a 6RV that’s been colored that shade and they want it to be more warm but still a level 6. If they used a 6C would you be able to see it since it’s the same level? Or no because the cooler shade appears darker? I hope this makes sense?

Sorry to hear you’ve not got the result you were after. So that’s a BIG question and one that’s impossible for me to answer remotely…? A lot depends on how red/copper/orange it is, where it is, what result you want and what’s been used…there is just so much too it.
