This is Aaliyah's production if she was till alive.
For me Kingdom from FadeToMind is way more reminiscent of that, but I get the comparison

Sick track and love that she brought that Juno-106 out!
Vocals and video are blowing my mind!! This is too good!
This is fkn dope. Playin with the speeds is fun, too. Someone give this chick more money for video production, though.
Very expensive vid production, lol. Seriously, love love this cut.

Was this shot in Hamilton? It looks like it was shot in Hamilton.
Stefan L She's from Hamilton, so I wouldn't be surprised if it is.
+Stefan L It's the Good Shepherd Venture Centre on Cannon St. E,
Does anybody recognize this Roland synth that she is playing?
Will Myers juno 106
Kinda hilarious to see people try and claim this is imitator music but they don't even know who it takes inspiration from or what its pedigree is
omg speed it up 1.25
!!
***** i think you'd like this, yes,no? maybe?
+Continuous Mixes get oot
Good song...but I got distracted by the unplugged keyboard.
Shhhhh she's not actually singing either, it's a video! And that's the legendary Juno-106
She vaguely reminds me of FKA twigs.
Is she saying "play naturally, play naturally boy"?
Maybe you've already figured it out but she sings the title "No you never show your love, no you never show your love, boy."
Thanks very much! Time for me to invest in some new speakers..
The inflatable dances better in Bother by Les Sins.
Empress Of inspiration?
zzzzz
But if only she'd known, that's the only way he ever knew how to show his love... For he was simply just a whacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man... nothing more
She sounds like appropriation. Crooning in ways she don't know nuthin about lol ... Good study though.
Flychicka100 How do you know she isn’t well-versed in music history?
I have heard her speak of James Marcel Stinson as an important influence on her sound...and very few people know who Stinson is anymore.
It's obvious she's well versed, most appropriators are well versed in what they steal and unfortunately water down. It doesn't take away from the fact that she is singing in a style that is unique to black people. This is nothing more than r&b over a trip beat.. Somehow white people have newly discovered vintage rhythm & blues (which already did the house, techno, electronic merge) and have tried to imitate it. Now artist like her are being credited with 'innovating' this sound. It's complete erasure..
+Flychicka100 if I'd like to listen to some of the artists she's taking style from where should I start?
It's just her vocal style she's well verse musician if you listen to her music
@@Flychicka100 I get the complaint but it's ignorant here. This is the Hyperdub sound, super processed ethereal vocals and post-modern dnb production. They did innovate this sound in many ways. It's American dance music cross-pollinated with UK electronic music. She's a musician not an appropriator. You're trying to gatekeep but you really don't know what you're talking about. Black people make this music too, see DJ Rashad, FadeToMind, Kelela etc.
weak
2022 still here
