Hi HelenThank you for the recipe. This looks great. Just wondering whether the result would be the same if I were to use a pressure cooker.

+Howard Nguyen Howard, I've used a pressure cooker for this before. I'm assuming you know how to use your pressure cooker: I would do a parboil of the bones (about 5-7 mins boil) so you get some of the scum out of the bones, and then you dump the first water, rinse the bones, make sure you clean any blood or protein scum on the meat off for a clearer broth. Then put it back into the PC and go on high pressure at least 15psi (count when the pressure cooker comes to pressure) for about 15 mins. Carefully quick release the pressure, drop in your carrots and potatoes (I recommend using a waxier potato for this so it doesn't fall apart - white or red instead of russet) and do another high pressure for another 10 mins. By that time your meat should be fall off the bone with pretty soft cartilage bones.
+Thanh Tran Thanks Thanh. I will give it a go. Hope it taste ok. I am into anything that saves you time as long as it taste just as good compared to not using the pressure cooker. If it works, I might trial using the same technique on the cooking pho ga. Cheers

To be frank, every vietnamese(actually everyone) should know how to make this. I make mine with pork chops. Salt has a hint of strangeness compared with fish sauce. Maybe it's just me.

Does the broth get a good flavor from the meat? Is the meat tender only cooking for 15 min?
+deermeat01 total cooking time for the ribs is 30 mins. You can cook longer if you want it to be softer :)

+Danisa Mishima I have made this soup where I let the meat simmer for about 40minutes so that the meat almost falls apart then add the carrots and cook another 20 mins, and then add the potatoes and cook until potatoes are soft. By then we can typically chew on the soft bones for extra nutrition.
