    This video is awesome! I find it hard sometimes when people expect you to read their minds or they say general things like 'I want programs removed from my computer'. I'm not a gypsy and I don't know the programs you use and don't use. Then when asked about what programs they want removed, I'm told 'You know the junk'. Can't please everyone, I'm just thankful for those I'm able to put a smile on their face. They're the once that make it worth while helping!

    I do IT part time and my other part time is food service. Last week I had this lady order on the phone and I gave her the order she asked for but she expected me to know that she actually wanted the plate with all the toppings on it which is extra and listed as a completely different plate. It's NAMED different. She called back yelling at me even though I was apologizing. And I was apologizing even though I know she was the one that made the mistake. The more I apologized the more she yelled to the point I had to hang up on her. I had customers waiting to be seated. Then I blocked her. I'm not gonna stand there and be disrespected. She's not better than me. So absolutely decline business when the customer is rude like that.

    I used to consult troubleshooting of large specialized industrial heating and ventilating equipment. Many times I had to travel to job sites after being unsuccessful troubleshooting over the phone. I have encountered many jerks on rooftops of large facilities. Before I could begin to work with the service tech we would be read the riot act of what would happen if we were not successful in solving the problem. I would simply pick up my tools and instruments and leave without saying a word. Felt good too

    I like it!!!! I had a good giggle. Maybe I should do a video on things never to say to a medical receptionist!!!! Honestly it's gobsmacking that some people have what I call a gross sense of entitlement.
    Whilst I'm on the medical subject and this has to do with IT I assure you. It would be great for people to have their medical history, medications and reports on a USB attached to their driver's keyring.
    There is an Aussie guy who developed the idea "In Case of Emergency" which is USB that can be attached to the keyring and also has a sticker to place on the car's dashboard. This will let emergency personnel know if they have to transport you to hospital and the medical staff know in case you are in an accident.
    I have gone one step further. I got tired of carrying around with me to various medical appointments all the paperwork of blood tests, scans and specialists reports etc. So I have an additional USB on my driver's keyring which contains this and in the Emergency USB I make reference to this. (I use free scan to pdf software (very safe to use) and scan the relevant paper documentation to my computer or directly to the USB. All that it costs is the actual cost for the USB - suggest 8 - 16GB USB will do the majority if people have several ongoing health issues, like I do Not to mention saves paper - sometimes.)
    It really came in handy when I was having a scan and the Dr doing the scan wanted to know some info and I handed over the USB and told the person where to find the previous scan results from a different provider, which the Dr greatly appreciated. Hence even not an emergency having the info on a USB attached to my keyring really came in handy.
    Even when not driving and a passenger in a car I always carry my car keyring with me - attached to my shoulder bag. Especially as I live in a rural area here in Aussie land and over 60 klms away from the nearest hospital.
    It's not something that people think to do however I believe regardless of how young or old a person is, if they're even taking 1 medication, it's important that emergency personnel have access to this information.
    Penny for your thoughts????

    • @AskYourComputerGuy
      @AskYourComputerGuy  11 месяцев назад

      Personally, I love the idea! Not sure how it is in Australia, but here in the states, the government (via HIIPA) takes medical records privacy extremely serious That would be my only concern about having all of this information freely available if you misplaced that USB drive. Other than that, I'd totally be all about it! :)

    • @desleycasey7412
      @desleycasey7412 11 месяцев назад

      @@AskYourComputerGuy Yes, we also have strict privacy laws. However, if the USB is attached securely to the keyring, it is hard to lose. I use a keyring attachment where one has to click down on the attachment to detach it from my keyring and/or shoulder bag.
      As to the privacy issue because there is a sticker pointing out in case of emergency, I am giving permission to the medical personnel to check the keyring and USB - thereby giving my consent, hence, no breach of privacy in the usual medical sense. Paramedics and Ambulance personnel regularly take verbal medical information, if possible, to pass along to hospital staff here in Aussie land. Therefore, the sticker and the key ring having "In Case of Emergency" acts as the verbal permission if I'm unable to consent or provide medical information verbally.

    I bought a used iPhone Xr back in April. I also purchased a dual sim reader from Amazon at the same time. I know how to open an iPhone but honestly, I was just too dang busy to gather the special screwdrivers and a heating pad. There is a phone repair shop here that I have heard bad things about. I attempted to use a repair shop that was Apple certified but they refused to swap out the sim reader for me. So I went to that repair shop and the young man opened my phone and replaced the sim reader. Then I handed him the replacement gasket he balked and said I did not need it, that the phone would not be waterproof anyway. To put the gasket on would require more work and while I was willing to pay the extra money the man refused to replace the gasket. I took my phone home opened it myself and replaced the gasket. Of course, I will never go back to that place.
    I was laughing a bit while watching this video because close to 75% of the time when I get called about a PC not working right I pull out my USB flash drive and install Malwarebytes and like ole Gomer used to say "Shazam" all a sudden it's working again! Malware, failing drives, and updates are the reason for maybe 99% of all PC repair calls.

    But at some point you have to tell the service person where exactly you live so that he can come to you to check your system on site, set it up again and solve the problem because you can't bring all your hardware to the service, for example, because sometimes it`s hard to say which device causes the problem, maybe desktop, printer, router, cable connections or whatever. And how are people who don't own a car, like me for example, supposed to get their computer to a more distant service, sometimes on the other side of town? In Germany, where I live, even that is not a problem, here it is called "on-site service", and if a repair on site is not possible and the service person has to take the computer to his workshop, then it is also part of the service that the customer can get a loan device for the duration of the repair, at least not to be completely without a computer, ok, of course not the latest high prized top model from the PC hit list, sometimes for free, sometimes for a small rental fee, everything is also a matter of negotiation.

He felt trapped doing what he was doing and didn't think he could do anything else. Well I paid him. And couldn't get a refund for something else which he didn't make clear. About a year later I drove by and his shop looked like it had been abandoned and nobody had been there in a while.

      From the perspective of someone who has worked with troubleshooting Apple products, wiping the drive and performing a fresh install is usually done to ensure the issue is not software-related. It's a quick and easy way to ensure a defective piece of hardware is the issue.
      In terms of your specific case, my guesses would either be incompetence or an issue that persisted after replacing defective hardware.

      Not sure about the UK, but here in the US, you do NOT need certifications of any kind. Compared to others in my field, I have very few. What I do have is 30 years of experience, which (as we say here) "beats paper" every time. My knowledge is from my experience. I started small. Local coffee house, making friends with the "regulars", handing out business cards. Because they were regulars, they were people who had lived here for many years and knew lots of people.
