- With unprecedented access to both George and Andrew’s personal archive including never-before-seen footage, and previously unheard interviews, WHAM! charts in their own words the four year journey from teenage school friends to global superstars.
If you are of a certain age then you know how huge Wham really were. They were all over the charts in the 80's and have some of the most well known songs of that decade. This documentary was brilliantly made.
i’m 14 years old and i love the 80s and wham! so much. i wish i got to experience to 80s,, but i’m so glad that documentaries exist. it seemed so fun,, long love wham!
I'm 15 and I love the 80s too!!!! I wish I lived in 80s once in my life to experience this !!! Plus I love wham too!!! @@bonitabluess
Losing George was the saddest Christmas ever....Like a cherished member of the family...Love you brother...wherever you are !♥
This song last Christmas is now a different meaning 😔💔
Nowhere
@@TheMockatielheaven*
Every time I hear “LAST CHRISTMAS “ I bawl my eyes out…. It’s my fave Xmas song ever ( and do they know it’s Christmas ) of course … but last Christmas I listen to all year long… it’s a beautiful piece and wham shaped my childhood big time. 🤍
The way Andrew stepped back & allowed George to soar with his solo success. Thats what true friendship is all about. Never any bitterness or resentment. Kept his secret about being gay. He wanted his best mate to be the solo superstar his talent demanded. They were best friends until the day George died.
Are you kidding? I thought I’d have to subscribe to Netflix to see this doc. Thank you for uploading ❤
I still can't believe George Michael is gone. R.I.P
Me too.😢
Also me 😣
@@alfonsogreen2722 8 years later this Christmas 😔💔
miss him horribly. all the good songs he could have written about Trump and Tories.
He is not. Maybe physically but the legacy is forever. I'm shure he is in a good place.
The end made me cry. True true friendship! Andrew a class act ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
A fabulous british story from great friends growing up in London. Never to be repeated. The 80s
They both grew up in Bushey, hertsforshire and not North London cos l grew up in Bushey.Fact
@@Simon-up2ud Bushey or London not much difference in distance. I live in London and can get to Bushey Or Watford on the train quicker than I can get to most parts of London.
@@Simon-up2ud George's dad had a restaurant in Edgware. He was there quite a bit, so was his sister. I lived in Harrow during the 80s and the woman who ran one of Wham's fan club lived in the same house as me. She gave us all the tea.
George was my idol.A great Singer songwriter.Last ICON.With evergreen songs.Gone too soon.😢
This was an amazing look at the journey of two childhood friends. I never knew what happened when Andrew disappeared. Now, I do. May George rest in the peace he deserves. Thank you for posting this.
Getting this before it disappears. ❤
Dear George, may he rest in peace.
The clubs he was made to appear in the early days were mostly Gay Clubs. Something he did not want to state in this film because he was still in the closet then.
He came 3 times to the club I was working in Called Bolts Club the second most popular Gay Club in London.
I run the small restaurant in the club. I'm George too.
The first time he came with all the group Andrew, Pepsi, Shirley and their guitarist David Austin. Sung a few songs spent sometime with me chatting in the restaurant area. That first night they sang young guns go for it. Next time I saw him he came one night alone with his sister. He came to me and asked me if the boss would let him sing. So I fixed it for him and he sang an Elton John song called don't let the sun come down on me. That was 1982-83 not sure.
Last time I saw him was just after young guns got to no 3 and remember wham on top of the pops. So that night he came to Bolts Club because Divine was appearing that night. Other big stars who just hit the charts were there that night. Jimmy Somerville, Mark Almond, Limal from katzia koo koo Hazel Dean.
George told that night that he will not come to the club anymore because his management or recording studio thought that gay club appearances will spoil his image.
Early on in this film there is a clip of wham singing at Bolts I see my boss there Nicky Price and the dj Norman Scott rip.
Memories rip George from George who is still following you even after you have left us.
Thanks for adding such valuable details 🙏🏼 As children in the 80's when there was more stigma we would point at notorious Bolts on Green Lanes as we went by on the bus "That's a Gay NightClub". You have to look hard for such places beyond central London these days.
@@divinesarah your most welcome
Lovely. Thanks for sharing George. Love and Light to you ♥️
Not sure why you think he was made to appear in those clubs and then you say they made him stop because it might hurt his image so you said 2 different things I saw the performance at Bolts Club it was awesome the crowd was ridiculous thoiugh I mean its like they had no idea they were witnessing true genuis before their eyes! LOL George had a goal and he went for it even if he wasn't always confident in his singing he did become confident with it and he always knew he was a great songwriter and of course we know that nobody could or can ever do his songs like he can that said the Hall of Fame performers did him justice especially Carrie Underwood Adam Levine had me worried but he jept Faith to the original he did not try to turn it into sounding like Maroon 5 which I was afraid he would do LOL and the Miquel guy he did Careless Whisper and made it beautiful the part I heard I was so caught up in him finally being inducted that I may have been a tad distracted also nobody but Andrew could have inducted George so that was extra special .
This reinforced what a talent [and nice guy] GM was, but highlighted what a selfless and secure individual AR is...GM went through his own personal 'hell', but it must have been as difficult for AR to be cast by the media as 'The other [less 'talented'] man', and not feel the need to react...that showed real strength of character and a genuine friendship bond....AR, and amazing person!
That demo of careless whisper. wow what a treat to hear. Classics often have a very interesting journey to the top. 40 years on its one of the most known ballads in the world.
George.... Always in my Heart....
This is a friendship masterclass. Thanks to Andrew, George had the amazing single career that he had. Andrew is really enjoying the recognition that deserved.
I really still hoping for the official release of The Final concert at Wembley Stadium.
These guys had a huge influence on us teens in Germany. Great memories that are only possible through uploads like this. Thanks internet! Thanks WHAM!
This needs a DVD... It is good to see this here... Dropping Netflix as they are limited on other content... Andrew is the man who helped George get his career that many would love to have.... Too bad George did not see that he had the talent... He seemed so sad when Wham broke up...
Actually George did believe in his talent especially as a song writer and yes it was a difficult transition from Wham! to solo andFaith was bigger than he ever could imagine and it shocked him but he got through it he wasdestined to be a star and only he could sing his songs he could sing other people's songs too but Nobody could sing his songs like he could I just don't want to give you the impression that George was this unhappy person he wasn't he had times like we all do but he wasgenerally happu and he was happy before he passed Shirlie and David and Andrew all spent time with him and they said he was happy being them and working he loved his music and of course with his sisters and dad Fadi is dead to me but this Documentary is about Wham! which was a blast and I am 39 and I was a baby when they solit I got to exoerience Faith but I love Wham! too LOL
Thank you so much Uploading this . THIS IS SO GOOD.
I think that this film shows that PERHAPS George was the greater writer/artist... (In POP MUSIC that's not even half the battle...) ANDREW allowed George to become what he eventually became. Without Andrew, George whould never have existed. Andrew, (perhaps unburdened by complexities that George couldn't fully share with his friend?) gave George unconditional confidence and, indeed, love... (That's what allowed George to blossom...) Andrew, (initially 'The Pretty One') eventually acknowledged that his partner in the band had a talent he simply didn't have to the same degree. Instead of resenting that, Andrew fully supported his brother in music. Even to agreeing to taking something of a 'back seat'? (That was an incredibly loving thing to do...) To those that say that 'musically' WHAM weren't the best, I'd say listen to 'The Edge Of Heaven' a FUCKING PERFECT pop single. (But I say AGAIN, without Andrew Ridgely, there'd be no WHAM and without WHAM, we'd never have heard of Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou/George Michael...) xx SF
Kudos for achieved what WHAM did! I had no idea how hard it was at the begining. Those two super friends were born to share that amazing life giving us the gift of their songs and performances. Andrew such a great great friend, and what to say about George, super talented and super handsome. R.I.P. dear and thanks a lot Andrew. what an interesting documentary, made me fly back to my youth.
My kids always snicker at me when I get excited and bouncy when a Wham song on Pandora or on my playlist starts playing. I was, and still am, a huge music fan. And Wham was a big part of that in my early teen years. This film brought me back to all those happy memories. It also gave me greater insight into their story and furthered my appreciation for what they accomplished at their age as well as the impact it had all across the world. Wham has Immortalized that youthful exuberance of the 80s. Thank you Andrew and George for what you gave us.
Our beloved George... How touching that documentary was...
An emotionally mature and powerful friendship between the boys against all the odds , inspiring example of what we can all do when we watch each others backs . RESPECT ✊🏼
Thames coast, NZ, Everything she wants; still love the music at 57 yrs old.
God bless both of them lovely guys 😊
Their friendship changed many many lives.
That was super cool that they donated Last Christmas
I still have their first record on tape. Bad Boys will ALWAYS make wherever I am, dance club, a random parking lot, the middle of Target, me dance until I’m 86’d.
May we all inspire to be an Andrew R. ❤
Damn, watching George cry at 1:07:50 really hit me. He was too much sensitive, definitely.

Thanks to my older sister i was introduced to Wham and George Michael
Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I love wham sm, omg 😭😭❤️ this documentary is beautifully made and it makes my heart warm everytime i see it
I ❤ this documentary! I am glad to see it is on RUclips. How wonderful Andrew's mom made the scapbook and documented thier history. Thier loyal friendship is wonderful.
Unfortunately Deon was never mentioned also the press at that time was disgusting towards Andrew a great dude.
I love wham
Thank God Last christmas finally got its justice & reached #1 in the UK a few years ago. It really must be the biggest selling single ever given its been a huge hit every year for the past 40 years. Globally also. Its cemented their name in history cause generation after generation will know who they are.
Fantastic! They really made it big❤❤❤
I cried at the end
Awwww😢

Well 😊What a Treat 🤩😎👌 But why the 'grime' type music at the outro credits?😲
Énorme artiste Georges Michael 🎉
Wow. Thanks for this! ❤

Did anyone notice that George removed his beauty spots/moles…i only notice it, cos I had some removed from my face
They were still there, just covered with make up.
@@betagombar9022 I think he removed them like Enrique Iglesias did

Looking back now think george had the hots for andrew
great documentary. i never thought i'd watch one on george micheal or wham!, even though I appreciated both, but to a point. truth is there's great songwriting in there, great orchestration, and great singing. but the video was actually captivating for the story. and i think it paints a balanced image without going too much into detail.
thx so much 🎉
id love to see a doc made about billy squier on how he was a huge rock star and his career destroyed by one video literally over night.
After that first appearance on top of the pops we were trying to dance the same way……after one viewing. That’s how it happened back then
Thank you very much for this amazing movie video, you can put from the movie Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody, if you want to put it if not I don't mind it's not mandatory???
congratulations for the work done, I really appreciate it...
😘🤗❤️
George Michael was one of a kind in terms of how talented and gifted he was as a musician, pop culture icon, LGBTQIA icon and overall as a human being. I got to see him in 2008 in Houston when he did his first US tours in over a decade and a half and he was wonderful and mesmerizing. He was 45 at the time and he still had that Joie De Vivre. With Wham! he had seven US top ten singles and three number one singles and his solo career he had eight US number one hits and 17 US top 40 hits.
Many people say Andrew was a phantom 👻
Seals & Crofts, Seals and Coley, Loggins and Messina were the most listened to duos in the US, but in the UK people have never heard of a new wave duo in the 80s like George and Andrew. 😊
So sad that thier friendship ended . Wise stars keep thier close friends close for the rest of thier lives. It didn't have to end like Oprah and Gail. Maybe GM would still be alive today. AR knew how to love unconditional.
Don’t think it did…
It NEVER ended. Andrew paid an amazing and loving tribute to George after he passed. Their friendship lasted right up till George's passing and beyond.
Love this, thank you for posting
Great upload, but what happened during the credits? Someone recorded some shit rap music over the Wham! track “I’m your Man”. WTF?
Just recently I've started reading Andrew's book. So the film is a nice addition to his story.
Same thing happened to Queen, they went to Top of the Pop because Bowie had dropped out and with Seven Seas of Rhye they became famous
Оба молодцы но , один из них пошел вперед семимильными шагами ! Д.М.

R I P George Michael t y for the Awesome Music
A Great insight into the what really went on !
George it seems was a unhappy man inside towards the end in Particular
He needed Andrew to become the person he became !!
I emigrated with my parents from the UK to the US in 1983. Wham had moderate success in the UK. I forgot about them, then Wake Me Up came out of nowhere to be a mega US hit. Kind of took me by surprise.
They did not have moderate success they were big in the UK.
@Raider577 album Fantastic overall sales 1.7 million. Next album, Make it Big sold close to 10 million. Proves my point 😆
@@robbflynn4325 You said moderate success in the UK. Fantastic sold 900,000 in the UK that is more than moderate success.
@Raider577 I was 15/16 in 1983. Their success in the uk in 1983 was moderate. They were touring during that summer during the time Fantastic was released. Touring dates included Whitley Bay ice rink 😆 The sales of Fantastic would have been boosted by their later success. Say what you want, but I lived through it. Back then I read Smash Hits, and was really into my music. They were not considered a major act until 1984 and their album Make it Big. End of.
@@robbflynn4325 I was teenager at the time in London and they were more than moderately successful. Groups like Haircut 100 were moderately successful not Wham.
Super 👍. Merci pour ces souvenirs inoubliables de mon enfance 😢
Just Beautiful ♥️♥️♥️
Loved George Andrew was the one who never wrote and could not play guitar when they use to go into the studio Andrew would just play all the arcade games while George did it all when whsm broke up Goerge give him the song last Christmas
I was a tween when wham hit it big across the pond in the States - my best friend crushed on george and my crush was andrew 😍❤️❤️
Yog LOVED watching this! MWAH! I LOVED watching it with My London Boy;)
観られてよかったです!
What the Hell was that at the end?! Watching two German girls watching anima in picture in picture mode then re-watching Wham documentary then back to watching anima?! 🤣 Did I have a stroke or did that really happen?! 😂
Andrew benefited a lot from his friendship with George Michael.. It is a matter of interests between them, not friendship.. Andrew knows very well that George Michael is more handsome than him, and his beauty attracts fans to him, and George's voice is better than Andrew's voice, so it is natural that Andrew is attached to George and does not let him go or abandon him because he is a gain for him and the band.
BRITISH MODERN TALKING IS ( WHAM! ) BUT THEM FROM TROPICANA CLUB THAT CALL WHAM! . FOR ME WHAM! IS A MORE BEST THAN CULTURE CLUB. BOY GEORGE. I LIKE GEORGE MICHAEL STYLE HIS A WAY TO SINGING THAT WAY IN MY MEMORY'S. THE FINAL ALBUM FROM WHAM!. THANK YOU FRIEND FOREVER.
wham! and George Michael FOREVER...!!!!!
I mean Wham was George Michael. Did Andrew ever sing lead? I’ve never been aware of his voice on a record.
You are wrong and you don't understand Wham!
SOMEBODY TEEEELL MEEEE...❤️
It was wondefull
zo cool
❤ Begging 😢 at the end
Обожаю WHAM
it still baffles me that Wham! Rap wasn't a huge hit when first released nor was Young Guns but it was sucessful enough that they rereleased Wham! Rap then it was a hit and they got on top of the Pops both those records in my opinion should have been huge right out of the gate number one hits and I have to disagree with them Bad Boys I love that song LOL I love Young Guns too and Wham! Rap! but like George my favorite is Everything She Wants and I am fond of Club Tropicana really Wham! never had a bad song nor did George in his solo career
What's the song I the background at 19:00?

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory,
forever and ever.
Amen.
