I have 36 Craft and Lore wallets, including all of the Jupiter leather wallets/models, all 4 of the Pueblo leather Port Wallets, and ALMOST every Ghost wallet offering, and they're all phenomenal wallets. Especially those Badalassi Carlo Pueblo leathers, which look AND smell wonderful and are no doubt very rugged and durable, but my Horween and Wickett and Craig wallets get the most use. I usually just use my ghost and other limited edition releases a few times and then shelf them, for a rare chance of use in the future, so im mainly carrying my Horween and W&C stuff the most, since they're the most beautiful and rugged and can be replaced easier if lost/stolen, not to mention them being tanned in the USA for 100+ years.
So my advice about the shell cordovan is:
Save up until you can afford it and thank me later. If you need a wallet ASAP, get something else that's cheaper from C&L, but if you want to own and experience the best leather on planet earth (IMO 😎👍), save up for the shell cordovan! It'll be worth the wait and extra money!

Why is the “Genuine Shell Cordovan” stamp on the port at 3:15 look so small? The ones shown earlier in the video (including the shells themselves) look bigger?

Horween has a couple different sized stamps. Small stamps go on their chips.

Answer: a gimmick to demand more currency for purposes of trading and selling.

Yeah I am not really sure of the hype either. Natural veg tan develops a patina over time as well, and you can achieve near the same density in selecting the correct bull hide. Then for the sheen, just coat with wax or acrylic finish. Horse leathers are typically less porous than cow leather, which I'd guess gives it that marbled look in the dying process which you either like or don't like. I'd like to get my hands on some to see for myself but I won't be buying any for awhile so that might never happen.
