    Keeping the wheels going where you're steering them is definitely top on the list! Awesome to see the level of professionalism you are putting into your builds and will be looking forward to things to come!

    Nice work guys, just love the E28. On a point of safety, noticed you have imperial 15 inch tyres fitted to metric alloy wheels. These originally came from factory with run flats and they do look nice. Had a friend who had the same set up, 15 inch imperial tyres on these metric alloys and the tyre blew at speed on the freeway. I believe the metrics have a different ribbed internal edge to accommodate the steel reinforced run flats so people over inflate them to keep them seated but then they overheat at speed, but hey I could be wrong! Stay safe dude! 😎👍

      Hab thank you so much for the comment! I wonder if they made the style 7 wheel in metric then? We aren't aware of these wheels not being a standard size since I believe we pulled them off of an E34 honestly can't remember but regardless thank you for the insight 🙏

    Another great video, my E28 has also developed the front suspension shake. Upgrade on the list. I guess I should also be ready for other worn parts to make their appearance.

      Thank you very much! And yes it definitely is a balancing act of "while you're in there parts" but we found the biggest culprit to be the steering components. Best of luck on the project! Let us know if we can help at all 🙏

    Great video, just stumbled upon your channel. I've owned my 84 528e for 20 years and one aspect which is often overlooked is the strut housing upper bearings. I've never heard about the synthetic oil being detrimental in Getrag manual boxes as my 84 came filled with Mobil sch630, but I've been using redline synthetic gearbox lubricant for years and find it incredible. The car is approaching 250 thousand miles and still going strong! Love you guys and your enthusiasm, thanks for the great information!

    • @superbimmerbros
      @superbimmerbros  2 года назад

      Greg thank you for joining us and watching! Definitely an overlooked part I agree, we luckily swapped to an adjustable suspension set up or else we would have done that too!
      You know what's crazy is that I've heard both sides regarding the oil but what I think it came down to is the rating of the oil being gl-4 or else it will cause problems. It was the first and only time I used any sort.of synthetic and it ate up the synchro gears 😅 I went in with Valvoline 80/90 and now it's good as new! Thanks again and happy driving! 👍

    Great video man! Good to see some e28 content. I needa refresh my front suspension after installing coilovers too. What part numbers did you get from FCP euro? I cant seem to find any upper control arms on the their site.

      @superbimmerbros  2 года назад +1

      Hey Brian! Thank you for the comment and the support! For whatever reason they are no longer available on FCP 😭 but the part number that I managed to find is 31121132354 (found on bimmerworld) they arent aluminum but it seems to be the only ones that could potentially available. 😬 We could help with pressing new bushings and ball joints for you if you find them! 🤘

    How's the new poly mounts feeling? Do you feel a difference in terms of stiffness or increased vibrations?

    • @superbimmerbros
      @superbimmerbros  2 года назад +1

      To be completely honest the added vibration is MINIMAL. I definitely expected it to be very noisy but it feels slightly stiffer than OEM. Definitely recommend! 👍

    Did you need to use new bolts for the oil pan when replacing the gasket?

    • @superbimmerbros
      @superbimmerbros  Год назад +1

      Hey thanks for the comment! We always use new bolts for pans with a fresh wave lock washer. We have reused bolts in the past though and have had zero issues however we always like the fresh look of yellow zinc and the reassurance that there are healthy bolts holding those leaks in as long as possible 😁

    • @thrty8street
      @thrty8street Год назад +1

      @@superbimmerbros thanks for the explanation! I’ve read there’s different gaskets for m30 pans. Some are paper while others are cork. Which did you use?

    • @superbimmerbros
      @superbimmerbros  Год назад +1

      @@thrty8street so this particular E28 was the m20b27 variant but we rebuilt a couple m30s and used cork gaskets on those. We're a huge fan of using the aviation gasket sealant on them too to help prevent those slow leaks 👍

    What is the purpose of that red engine brace tool you used under the hood at the begining?

    • @e28forever30
      @e28forever30 2 года назад +2

      Like you said, it braces the engine.
      When the front subframe comes out, there is no more support for the engine.

      Hey there! The brace hooks on to the bracket right behind the distributor cap. Once hooked you can raise the engine to be able to remove the subframe 😊

    • @superbimmerbros
      @superbimmerbros  2 года назад +1

      This getrag was out of an early E30 with the same engine platform. The swap is straight forward with the exception that there is a threaded hole next to the shift shaft. You have to plug it with a bolt or else it will leak! 😊
